Mauritania
Country in Africa
Mauritania, officially the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, is a sovereign state in Northwest Africa. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, Western Sahara to the north and northwest, Algeria to the northeast, Mali to the east and southeast, and Senegal to the southwest. Wikipedia
Nouakchott
Capital of Mauritania
Nouakchott is the capital and largest city of Mauritania. It is one of the largest cities in the Sahel. The city also serves as the administrative and economic center of Mauritania. Nouakchott was a mid-sized village of little importance until 1958 when it was chosen as the capital of the nascent nation of Mauritania.
Most attractive Places in Mauritania||Mew Play
Mauritania is located in Africa and is not so famous. It is rather infamous for the terrorism and fear prone areas. The land is mainly of villages and their inhabitants. Mostly mud houses and agriculture abounds in Mauritania. It has passed a law long back in 1981 to end slavery.
Nouadhibhou
One of the densely populated cities of Mauritania. Fishing is the main industry of the city. It has numerous shipwrecks, largest one at the peninsula’s tip. You can take a look around the city in just 20 to 30 minutes. La Guerra is one of the tourism spots here.
Tidjikja
It is one of the quietest towns of Mauritania. Hop in for a peaceful ride. It as a caravan town, most of the travelers are nomadic. The ride we just spoke about is a caravan. It is a thrilling experience.
Adrar
You may need to take a guide along to the region of sand dunes, Adrar. You might also need to check with the local government if you can travel and pass through these regions. Though the temperature is as hot as the sun, there are oasis and trees which can give some relief to a heat sick traveller or the animals.
Nouakchott
It is the capital of Mauritania. And one of the little urban places in Mauritania. As Mauritania is mostly a desert, though Nouakchott is developed, you will still find nomad tents in public places. It is quite a sight.
Chinguetti
As discussed earlier it is not one the most modern cities of Africa. You will find old and traditional architecture. A really good place for an avid photographer. It is a UNESCO world heritage site.

Mauritania - A Three Week Itinerary
Chinguetti is the seventh holiest city of Islam and exudes a similar attraction like Timbuktu. Together with Oualata, Ouadane and Tichit it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Enough reasons to visit these cities on a private tour, since public transport is erractic in Mauritania. After a couple of days in the capital Nouakchott to acclimatize we head with our crew (Abdou, Khalifa, Mounir) in Eastern direction to Nema. From there it is all offroad to Oualata and Tichit and further on to Tidjikja, where we hit the tarmac again. On the way we get to explore the neolithic settlement Akreijit. After spending the night at the ancient trading post of Ksar El Barka we try to get a glimpse of the crocodiles at the Guelta de Matmata, but we are not lucky. Driving to Rachid and then to Terjit we pass by the impressive Chatou sand dunes and the Tifoujar Pass. We get to see Fort Saganne where Gerard Depardieu acted as an officer of the Foreign Legion. Finally we reach fabled Chinguetti and get to see one of the many libraries that survived from the town's heyday. After a trip to the Eye of the Sahara, that is even visible from outer space we are in Ouadane in time for the celebrations of the Mauritanian independence day. Then we head in Western direction and travel along the tracks of the legendary iron ore train that plies between Zouerat and Nouadhibou. Spending the night at the monolith Ben Amira is an experience of its own. After a short stop in the port of Nouadhibou we travel to Tafarit in the nature reserve of Banc d'Arguin. Eating fresh fish and sailing on a fishing boat makes for a nice change on our road trip. After returning to Nouakchott we spend time in the markets looking for African style fabrics that we can take back home.

The majority of journalists around the world have chosen to develop their subject on controversial and sensational themes: violence, war, crime. But all these facts represent only 1% of our world and its inhabitants, forgetting the remaining 99% of which we never speak.
I chose to visit every country on the planet and film them to present them in High Definition format but in a raw way, without music, without comment. Simply, reality in all its truth. Thus, you will be able to make your own idea of the world in which you live.
Currently, I have already visited nearly 170 countries and my world tour continues thanks to you who follow me.

Visiting Ben Amera and Aishe Monoliths of Mauritania
I visited both monoliths in 2019 and plan to go back.
Ben Amera is Africa's largest monolith rising 633m (2027ft) above the desert floor. It's the world's second largest (or third deending on interpretation) monolith only behind Uluru, in Australia. Locals will tell you that geologists think it might be larger than Uluru if the rock that lies beneath the Saharan sands were included in the measure of its size. Ben Amera is located in Mauritania, near the border with Western Sahara. It lies 4km north of the train track where the famous Iron Ore Train travels between Nouâdibhou and Choûm.

#sahara .
