Togo Vlog l Experiencing The Sacred Tree in the Northern part of Togo 🇹🇬 in Africa. Tamberma

Today’s video highlights my experience on the road in Togo. In this video, let’s tour this beautiful village and learn.Enjoy the vlog #villagevlog #ghanavlog #vlog

The Koutamakou in northern Togo is undoubtedly one of the best destinations in Togo. Koutammakou is a region of Togo listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Koutammakou covers approximately 50,000 hectares and borders the Benin border for 15 km. The Batammariba who live there are defined by the art of building fortresses like no other and with refined architecture, the takyientà, which have become one of the symbols of Togo. Moreover, their name of Batammariba means: those who knead the fine skin of the earth to shape a container that matches the content.

Koutammakou in Kara, Togo

Koutammakou, the Land of the Batammariba is a cultural landscape designated in 2004 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in northern Togo.
The area features traditional mud tower-houses which remain the preferred style of living.
The traditional mud houses are known as a national symbol of Togo.
Many of the mud houses have two floors and some of them have a flat roof.
The Koutammakou in northern Togo is a cultural landscape that is inhabited by the Batammariba people, also known as Tammari or Taberma people.
The Tabermas are known for their two-story clay huts or ‘Tatas’ which are built out of earth as a fortress for defense against invaders.
Dancing with the Taberma women in their gazelle horn headdress and climbing a sacred baobab tree are unique experiences not to be missed.
In 2008, to complete the inscription of the site to World Heritage, the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO, headed by Rieks Smeets, set up the « Safeguarding of the Cultural Intangible Heritage of Batammariba », from the 2003 Convention.
The goal was to promote sustainability in Intergenerational transmission and preservation of skills and knowledge in all the essential areas of their culture, such as : manufacture of everyday and ceremonial objects, traditional healing and useful plants, takyentas construction, dance, music, archery, oral traditions, promotion of tourism respecting local traditions, mapping sacred areas, accumulation of data on the intangible cultural heritage and creation of access to it, recordings, films and photos….
Overall, teaching the ditammari, language of Batammariba in primary schools and education of youth in the intangible cultural heritage (distribution of texbooks).
This program was coordinated by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Primary Education of Togo and by Dominique Sewane, whose groundwork was her research and publications on the Batammaribas’ ceremonial life.

TOGOFILM

This summer, I traveled to Togo, West Africa. The video above is one that I worked on for the medical director of a local missionary hospital, as a way to show supporters a snippet of the people and ministry they are supporting in Togo. Words cannot describe the lessons learned from this trip, and I am forever grateful for the ABWE team in Mango and Tsiko, Togo. The memory from each one of these clips is still so real in my mind and I pray that this video pulls at you. The kids laughing at the beginning of this video... I have no words other than to attempt to explain that everywhere we went, we heard those giggles. More stories and images to come, but for now, enjoy this quasi-recap video. Visit hospitalofhopemango.org for more information.

Part 1 | Togo is not just about Lome | Quick Tour of Atakpame, the city of 7 hills | The market

Atakpamé is the fifth largest city in Togo by population (84,979 inhabitants in 2006), located in the Plateaux Region of Togo. It is an industrial centre and lies on the main north-south highway, 161 km north of the capital Lomé. It is also a regional commercial centre for produce and cloth.
Atakpamé dates from the 19th century and was first settled by Ewe and Yoruba peoples. It developed as both a commercial centre on a major north-south caravan route and as a haven for refugees fleeing from Dahomean attacks. As a consequence, Atakpamé experienced numerous destructive assaults by the kingdom of Dahomey. It is the centre of an important cotton-growing area and trades in both cocoa and coffee.

Exploring Ghana 🇬🇭 and Togo 🇹🇬 in a week #ghana #togo #westafrica

Visiting Yikpa, Togo, in 2009

In 2009, Laura and Jurgen traveled with Jacob and Julia to Yikpa, Togo, to introduce the kids to the village where they had met in 1992.The village greeted our family with great exuberance and circumstance. The village elders called an assembly, the ancestors were invoked, our hosts prepared a feast and there was even a parade! It was a memorable occasion and we really enjoyed the week we spent in the village.

Yikpa is a small village situated in the foothills of the Plateau de Danyi, in southern Togo, right at the Ghana border. There are several waterfalls in the area, including the famous Wli waterfalls just across the border in Ghana. The nearest city in Togo is Kpalime (60KM/38 miles); the nearest city in Ghana is Hohoe (20KM/12 miles).

Tribal Dance in Agbang, Togo

ATUSA : 50 ANS DU TOGO PART 1

CELEBARTIONS DU 50EME ANNIVERSAIRE DU TOGO.

Togo 2021
