Shaoxing Road — Taikang Road Tianzifang Walking Tour

This tour is nice, especially if you have kids with you, as there's a park stop on Shaoxing Road and plenty of gelato on Taikang Road (in the alleys between Taikang Road and Jian Guo Road called Tianzifang or 田子坊) to help them along. Shaoxing Road is one of my favorites in the former French Concession and Taikang Road is full of alleys to wander through..

Beijing Road is a street in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, China, which integrates culture, entertainment and commerce. It is the most prosperous commercial center in Guangzhou's history, with an average daily flow of about 350,000 people. Beijing Road starts from Guangwei Road in the north and ends at Yanjiang Middle Road in the south, with a total length of more than 1,500 meters.
In the old days, Beijing Road was a main north-south street inside and outside the Great South Gate of Guangzhou (now the intersection of Beijing Road and Great South Road). After the Song Dynasty destroyed the Southern Han Dynasty, the southern city wall was demolished, and the southern city was extended to the riverside to build double gates. In 1156, Guangzhou expanded to the south. In 1244, a double gate tower was built. From then on, the middle section of Beijing Road was called Shuangmendi, and gradually became a commercial district. In the Qing Dynasty, the current Beijing Road was Chengxuanzhi Street, Shuangmendi, Xiongzhenzhi Street, and Yongqing Street from north to south, and was famous for selling books, antiques, and flowers. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, a long pot drip was placed in Shuangmen, and the surrounding people arranged sacrificial activities through it. During the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty, the Pearl River where Beijing Road and Yanjiang Road meet was the location of Tianzi Wharf, which was specially built for welcoming and seeing off officials in the Qing Dynasty. The reception pavilion nearby was the place where officials were welcomed at that time.
In the ninth year of the Republic of China (1920), Guangzhou demolished the city wall to open the road, and renamed this road Yonghan Road (the National Government used the Cantonese English name Wing Hon Road), which means that the Qing Dynasty had been destroyed and the name of the South Street Yongqing was changed to Yonghan. In 1936, after Hu Hanmin, who was the first president of the Legislative Yuan of the National Government, passed away, and Hu himself was a Guangzhou native, in order to commemorate him, Yonghan Road was renamed Hanmin Road.
Beijing Road has had bookstores such as Biyutang and Jiugutang since the Qing Dynasty, as well as Zeng Zongzhou Zhumodian and Liu Zhongshan Pen Store. There are also a large number of book engraving workshops in this area.

Top 10 Experiences in Shanghai according to Rough Guides

Top 10 Experiences in Shanghai according to Rough Guides

10. Taikang Lu Art Street
Taikang Lu is an arts and crafts enclave that has developed from a renovated residential area in the French Concession area of Shanghai. Taikang Lu is known for small craft stores, coffee shops, trendy art studios and narrow alleys. It has become a popular tourist destination in Shanghai, and an example of preservation of local Shikumen architecture.

9. Fake market
You know it's wrong but you can't resist. Stock up on name-brand knock-offs at bargain prices. A steal in more ways than one.

8. Xintiandi
Xintiandi is an affluent car-free shopping, eating and entertainment district of Shanghai. The district is composed of an area of reconstituted traditional mid-19th century shikumen houses on narrow alleys, some adjoining houses which now serve as book stores, cafes and restaurants, and shopping malls.

7. Renmin Park
Renmin People's Park is a public park in Huangpu District of central Shanghai. It is located south of Nanjing Road, a major shopping street, and north of People's Square. Originally the northern part of the Shanghai Race Club, the park's central location makes it the main spot for rallies and demonstrations in Shanghai.

6. Moganshan Art District
50 Moganshan Road or M50 is a contemporary art district in Shanghai, that houses a thriving community of more than a hundred artists whose studios are open to the public. It is often compared with New York's SoHo and Beijing's 798 Art Zone. The art quarter has become a popular cultural attraction for local and international visitors alike.

5. The Bund
The Bund is Shanghai's stately street of old colonial-era buildings and the first port of call for many visitors. The Bund was the financial center of the Far East until the 1930s. It has been referred to as a museum of buildings, as many different styles of European buildings can be found here.

4. Yufo Temple
The Jade Buddha Temple is a Buddhist temple in Shanghai. As with many modern Chinese Buddhist temples, the current temple draws from both the Pure Land and Chan traditions of Mahayana Buddhism. It was founded in 1882 with two jade Buddha statues imported to Shanghai from Burma by sea.

3. Tailoring
Tailored clothes to any design you can think of, all for a tiny fraction of the price you'd pay at home -- Shanghai's ultimate bargain.

2. Yu Garden
Yu Garden is an extensive Chinese garden located beside the City God Temple in the northeast of the Old City of Shanghai. A centerpiece is the Currow ancient stone, a porous 3.3-m, 5-ton boulder. Rumours about its origin include the story that it was meant for the imperial palace in Beijing, but was salvaged after the boat sank off Shanghai.

1. Jinmao Tower observation deck
The Jin Mao Tower is an 88-storey landmark skyscraper in the Lujiazui area of the Pudong district of Shanghai. It contains offices and the Grand Hyatt Shanghai hotel. Until 2007 it was the tallest building in the PRC, the fifth tallest in the world by roof height and the seventh tallest by pinnacle height.

Why No One Knows Here?! 🇨🇳 || China Travel Vlog

A big thanks♥︎ to the China Tourism Board and Trip.com♥︎
#NihaoChina #NihaoShanghai #tripcom #Travelwithtripcom

The Trip was not arranged by China Tourism, but by ME ! 😄
It was really great to pick where to go, and what to explore all by myself!
And I am (kind of) proud to share with you my One-Day-Trip Plan! 😂 (yay-!)
You can see all aspects of Shanghai, city-side and country-side.
I hope this helps you to organize your personal trip!
Ah-! One more impressive thing! The subway was SUPER NEAT!

★•º˚˚º•★•º˚˚º•★•º˚˚º•★•º˚˚º•★

📍PLACEs I've been in this video.
★ To be honest, I've been to so many places, and I went everywhere so randomly.😂
So I can't find the exact location or address to share it with you!
But this is what you call 'Explore', right? :)

1) Breakfast Place: Somewhere in Tianzifang
📮 Address: X
Tianzifang Address: Taikang Road Lane 210, Huangpu District, Shanghai, China
➔ It was like a cafeteria, where lots of other shops share open tables. Sadly, I can't find it in the apple map.🥲

2) Coffee Shop: Peet's Coffee
📮 Address: X
I can only find an address of 'Starbucks', which was right next to the peet's coffee on google map.
This is the starbucks address : China, Shanghai, Huangpu, Xujiahui Rd, 618号日月光中心1层1F-A08单元 邮政编码: 200023
➔ To be honest, the Coffee was really good. I had flat white.

3) Nice streets which look like Europe.
📮 Address: X
But it's around this area.
➔ Jianguo Middle Road No.20-22 (Dapuqiao Subway Station Entrance & Exit 1 Pedestrian 410 Meters), Huangpu, Shanghai China

4) Subway station, where line No.10 and No.13 is, Xintiandi Subway station.
➔ I can't find it on apple map. I doubt myself saying Apple map works in China. 😂

5) Zhujiajiao, Water town.
➔ It takes almost 2 hours by subway, and on the way back to my hotel, it took nearly 1 hour. It is really great for a day tour!

The Xiaozhai Tiankeng is 626 metres long, 537 metres wide, and between 511 and 662 metres deep, with vertical walls. Its volume is 119,349,000 m³ and the area of its opening is 274,000 m². This material has been dissolved and carried away by the river. The sinkhole is a doubly nested structure—the upper bowl is 320 metres deep, the lower bowl is 342 metres deep, and the two bowls are on average 257 to 268 m across. Between both these steps is a sloping ledge, formed due to soil trapped in the limestone. In the rainy season, a waterfallcan be seen at the mouth of the sinkhole.

Sinan Road
Sinan Road is one of the best old streets in Shanghai to escape from the bustling city, with western style villas, small delicate shops and restaurants, in the shade of tall plane trees. It joins Huaihai Road to Taikang Road in the Former French Concession. Sinan Road was built in 1914 and named ‘Rue Massenet’ by the French Concession authorities to commemorate the famous French musician who died on August 13, 1912.

One of the Best Old Streets in Shanghai
Exquisite houses and tall plane trees edge both sides of the road. In addition to the common road features in the Former French Concession, Sinan Road has more than 20 various old Shanghai style garden houses which makes it a unique attraction. Besides, Sinan Road does not have buses nor neon signboards. The street lights are old-fashioned. All of these make Sinan Road one of the best and most beautiful old streets in Shanghai.

A Great Deal of Former Residences of Celebrities
Those garden houses used to be residences for celebrities. Former Chinese premier Zhou Enlai has lived at No. 73 Sinan Road, which is a Spanish-style garden house. Moreover, Chinese Peking opera artist Mei Langfang and Chinese modern democratic revolutionaries Sun Yat-sen and his wife Soong Ching-ling also have lived in Sinan Road. These residences are still well preserved and can be visited.

Sinan Mansions - A Nice Leisure and Entertainment Place
Sinan Mansions are not one building, but buildings of 51 historic garden houses. They also bring together a variety of architectural styles. There are boutique hotels, apartment hotels and enterprise mansions. Moreover, there are a variety of restaurants, bars, coffee houses, tea houses, as well as a large number of clubs, convention centers, showrooms, cultural salons, designer shops and recreational parks. Whether you are going shopping, enjoying deicious food, staying overnight or appreciating European style architecture, Sinan Mansions can cater to your needs.
