One of the most beautiful cities in Europe with great history, culture & architecture. European backyard city where I enjoy returning time & time again.
Walk the Charles Bridge from the 14th Century (started in 1357 & finished 1402), it's the bridge that connects the Old Town (Staré Mesto) to the Lesser Town (Malá Strana). Explore the other bridges to cross from east to west, too. It literally takes less than 2 minutes to cross, unless you still think you are in a dreamland, but that's ok, you're in Prague!
Go visit the Prague Castle before tourists flock there, best time to arrive is 6:00AM-9:00AM or after 5:00PM (17:00), Prague Castle is from the 9th Century, which seated Bohemian kings, Roman Emperors, presidents of Czechoslovakia & presidents of Czech Republic. *Vaclav Havel was the last Czechoslovakian president & the first Czech Republic president* Prague Castle is the largest lived-in ancient castle in the world according to the Guinness Record. Both Prague Castle & Charles Bridge are on the UNESCO World Heritage sites.
*A small tip, Golden Lane will be free after 5PM* Golden Lane built in 16th Century to house the guards but in 17th Century, it housed Goldsmiths. Charming street within the castle wall.
Go to Old Town, figure out how the Astronomical Clock (Prague Orloj) works & what each characters represent. Orloj is from the 1410, third oldest clock in the world & oldest surviving clock in the world. Take a picture with Tyn Church in the background. Have a seat near Jan Hus (John Huss) & his followers statue. A theologian and a philosopher who along with his followers were burnt alive because he was a church reformer. He is considered pre-Protestant & was known 100 years before Martin Luther. Visit the St. Nicholas church in the Old Town, Orthodox church. *There is another St. Nicholas in Lesser Town and is Gothic Parish* One was built by a father & the other was by his son of Dientzenhofer family. Both are Baroque in style. BTW...there are 3 St. Nichiolas.
If you are overwhelmed by the mass tourists have a drink, a dessert & people/boat/geese watch at the Vltava River waterfront (Náplavka). There are boat floating restaurants, street cafes & pub stands along the waterfront.
On each visits, I began to explore further outwards from the comfort zones of Old Town, New Town, Castle District. Don't get me wrong, those are some great historical & beautiful areas but one can not help being curious of other neighborhoods. So, join in & explore the local neighborhoods of Vyšehrad, Vinohrady, Smichov/Anděl.
On 1st visit in '13 , I stayed in Smichov/Andel (southwest of Old Town, across the Vltava River). Back then it was slightly sketchy/grey area. In '19 visit this neighborhood boomed with high level real estate, very upper-middle class area. Visit the local theaters, enjoy the relax of Petrin Park (Petřínské sady), ride a tram, ride a funicular (Angled tram, 3 stops of Újezd, Nebozízek and Petřín).
Another local area called Anděl, felt like local working class neighborhood. So many restaurants, pubs, cafes & a huge mall. Many trams stop along the Nádražní Street.
One 2nd visit, I decided to stay in another local neighborhood called Vinohrady (southeast of Old Town). In the 14h Century this neighborhood was covered with vineyards. During the visit, this area was an upcoming trendy neighborhood with full local pubs, restaurants and cafes popping out near the Peace Square (Náměstí Míru). There is a Subway/Metro stop, literally next to the church & there are plenty of tram lines that stop at the Square. Easter, this is where the locals gather to sell & buy treats, drinks, food & souvenirs for wandering tourists.

4K Czech Republic walk: Prague at Sunset, Vinohrady, Rieger Gardens, Main railway station 🇨🇿HDR ASMR
Today, on our walk, we will visit the Rieger Gardens, located in the Vinohrady district of Prague. From there you have a fantastic view of the city, and many people love to come here at sunset! At the end of the walk, I will show you the Prague Main railway station from an interesting angle.

Vinohrady (Royal Vineyards) is a cadastral district in Prague. It is so named because it was once covered in vineyards dating from the 14th century. Vinohrady lies in the municipal and administrative districts of Prague 2 (west part), Prague 3 (north-east part) and Prague 10 (south-east part), minor parts also of Prague 1 (Prague State Opera and Federal Assembly of Czechoslovakia), and Prague 4 (near Nusle).
Between 1788–1867 it was called Viničné Hory (Vineyard Mountains). From 1867 to 1968, it was called Královské Vinohrady (Royal Vineyards). In 1875, Královské Vinohrady was divided into two parts, Královské Vinohrady I and Královské Vinohrady II, the part I was renamed to Žižkov and the part II to Královské Vinohrady in 1877. In 1922 Královské Vinohrady was made part of Prague as district XII. In 1949, the west part was conjoined with Prague 2, and the east part remained a separate district, Prague 12. In 1960, when the Prague division was reduced from 16 to 10 administrative districts, the north part of Prague 12 was conjoined with Žižkov into Prague 3, and the south part was joined to Prague 10. Local patriots say that the real reason was that Královské Vinohrady was known as a bourgeois district and thus politically unreliable for the then-ruling Communist Party of Czechoslovakia.
Rieger Gardens (Riegrovy sady) is a park, over a century old shelters intimate nooks and places with wooded areas, open grassy areas, and impressive city vistas. Vineyards used to be located here. Today, all that remains are parts of the original buildings: the Classicist lookout from the 1920s, renovated into a restaurant, and a three-sided sandstone obelisk from around 1840.

The largest passenger railway station in the Czech Republic and Prague's most crucial railway station. The historic building and the hall above the railway yard are among the most significant Art Nouveau monuments in the Czech Republic. Many shops and food establishments will make waiting for your connection more pleasant. Occasional-themed exhibitions are held in the check-in hall. It opened in 1871 as Franz Josef Station, after Franz Joseph I of Austria. During the First Republic and from 1945 to 1948, the station was called Wilson Station (Czech: Wilsonovo nádraží), after the former President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson.
In 2014, the station served 224,505 trains (610 daily) and more than 53,000,000 passengers.

Today in our Czech Republic Prague 4K walk, we will visit Lesser Town (Malá Strana), a part of the city filled with the spirit of the Middle Ages and magic!
Malá Strana (Lesser Town) is a district of Prague, Czech Republic, and one of its most historic neighborhoods. In the Middle Ages, it was a dominant center of the ethnic German (and since the 16th century also Italian) citizens of Prague. It also housed many noble palaces, while the right-bank towns were comparatively more bourgeois and Bohemian Czech.
The name Malá Strana means Little Side, though it is frequently referred to as Lesser Town, Lesser Quarter, or Lesser Side. It is on the left (west) bank of the river Vltava, on the slopes just below Prague Castle. The name distinguishes it from the more prominent districts of Prague on the right bank, with which the Charles Bridge links it. Initially, when it was founded in 1257, the district was called the New Town beneath Prague Castle (Czech: Nové Město pod Pražským hradem). When Charles IV founded the New Town of Prague in 1348, Malá Strana was renamed the Lesser Town of Prague (Czech: Menší Město pražské). In the 17th century, the unofficial name Little Quarter (Malá Strana) was used.
06:20 The Lesser Town Square (Malostranské náměstí) lies at the heart of the Lesser Town (Malá Strana) and has been the hub of this side of the river in Prague since the 10th century.
The magnificent St. Nicholas Church is the center of the square, the Lesser Town's primary landmark. A mixture of restaurants, quaint old pubs, small shops, and a host of international embassies housed in the beautiful old Baroque buildings are all around.
14:00 Kampa (also Na Kampě) is an island in the Vltava river in central Prague on the side of Malá Strana. Charles Bridge crosses its northern tip and is connected to the island by the street Na Kampě. It is separated from Malá Strana by a narrow artificial channel to the west called the Devil's Stream (Čertovka), a waterway dug to power water mills (no longer existent). It is supposedly named after a sharp-tongued woman who lived in a local home called the Seven Devils.

Today we will start our Czechia 4k Prague walking tour on Na příkopě street, then visit Wenceslas Square, Národní street, and finally see the best view of Prague Castle from Vltava river.
00:00 Na prikope (Na Příkopě) is a street in the center of Prague, Czech Republic, connecting Wenceslas Square with Republic Square.
It separates the Old Town from the New Town. It is a place of representative buildings, including the headquarters of the Czech National Bank, old palaces, and luxurious shops.
Na Příkopě street leads on the site of former 10-meter-wide and 8-meter-deep moat from 1234, which led along the medieval walls of the Old Town. Water flowed directly from the Vltava river, and when the moat was filled, the Old Town formed a closed island. The moat was covered in 1760. After wrapping, chestnut trees were planted here, and the street was named Ve starých alejích (In old alleys). In 1845-70 the street was named Kolowratská třída and since 1871 bears the name Na Příkopě.
Because it was one of the few vast streets in Prague, it soon became a traffic artery. Since 1875, the first line of the Prague horse-drawn tram has been lead here, electrified since 1899. In 1919, Můstek became the first intersection in Prague controlled by a traffic policeman. In 1927, then the second intersection with the light signaling.
On the street appeared many new stores, and it became an important business center of Prague's promenade.
07:00 Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí)
This Square is the commercial and administrative center of the city as well as the site of important social and historical events. Here you'll find cinemas, theatres, banks, hotels, restaurants, dozens of small and large shops, and administrative centers. The Square was created during the founding of the New Town by Charles IV in 1348. Today it is dominated by the National Museum (1885 – 1891) and Josef Václav Myslbek's statue of the national patron St Wenceslas from 1912.
08:30 Národní, formerly Národní třída, is one of the critical avenues in Prague, Czech Republic. It is placed on the boundary of New Town and Old Town, in the southwest direction from the city's center. This avenue connects Legion Bridge bridge with Jungmannovo náměstí. In medieval times, there were fortification walls. On Friday, 17 November 1989, riot police violently suppressed a peaceful student demonstration, which is thought of as the initiation of the Velvet Revolution. Národní třída continued to be an eventful locale during the rest of the revolution.

Budějovické náměstí je někdejší název prostranství v Praze 4 na křižovatce ulic Olbrachtova, Vyskočilova a Budějovická, u severozápadního východu dnešní stanice metra Budějovická. Oficiálně tento název platil v letech 1941–1983. V průběhu osmdesátých let 20. století byl prostor zastavěn a ztratil charakter náměstí.
Díky dobré dopravní obslužnosti a velké občanské vybavenosti (poliklinika či obchodní dům DBK) se z Budějovického náměstí stalo přirozené centrum s širokým akčním radiem.
Historie
V roce 1922 byly dosavadní samosprávné obce Nusle (jako bezmála šedesátitisícové město), Michle a Krč jako katastrální celky připojeny k Praze jako součást Praha XIV. Tehdy zanikl i Nuselský okres, zahrnující toto území. V tomto období vzrůstala privátní i družstevní bytová výstavba, zakládaly se průmyslové podniky (Jawa Janeček-Wanderer aj.) a byla zavedena městská hromadná doprava. Počet obyvatel se výrazně zvýšil.
Za protektorátu oblast stagnovala. Poválečné období s sebou přineslo řadu změn, po roce 1945 vznikla na místě náměstí Hasičská zbrojnice s vysokou dřevěnou věží. Po roce 1948 došlo k řadě reorganizací správního uspořádání s obvodem Praha XIV-Nusle. Zákonem č. 65 z roku 1960 vznikl obvod Praha 4, do něhož byla oblast zahrnuta (část Nuslí, domy přiléhající z východu k bastionům Vyšehradu a Nuselské údolí, připadla Praze 2).
V letech 1957–1964 v okolí vzniklo první panelové sídliště Herálecká, Antala Staška, následovala sídliště Pankrác I., II., III., sídliště Michelská a sídliště v Horní Krči.
Dům bytové kultury (DBK) je stále obchodní dům v Praze 4, nad stanicí metra Budějovická, na Budějovickém náměstí.
Jde o relativně rozlehlou stavbu se čtvercovým půdorysem. Má osm pater, zvenku však vypadá mnohem nižší. Uvnitř totiž jednotlivá patra nejsou nad sebou – v jedné polovině jsou nad sebou umístěna patra lichá, ve druhé pak patra sudá a vůči sobě navzájem nejsou ve stejné úrovni. Fakticky tedy budova má jen čtyři plnohodnotná nadzemní patra. Uprostřed budovy se nachází velký otevřený prostor a po jeho stranách jsou umístěny eskalátory. Tento prostor se však velmi náročně klimatizuje.
Výstavba budovy trvala deset let (1971–1981); po otevření byla označena za dům 21. století.
Dekorace v nosném betonu, v interiéru stavby (Slavoj Nejdl)
Veřejným prostorám v interiéru již od projektu dominuje tmavočerveně mořené dřevo na obkladech stěn, na zábradlí a jako dekorativní prvek zpestřující různá zákoutí. V protikladu je zde použito tmavozeleně mořené dřevo, zejména jako nízké přepážky mezi prodejními odděleními; ve velké míře je užito v technickém a administrativním zázemí budovy (podhledy stropů na schodišti, dřevěné zábradlí).

00:00 Republic Square (Náměstí Republiky) is a city square in Prague, Czech Republic, lying at the Old Town and New Town boundary. These significant buildings are on the square or near the vicinity: Kotva Department Store, Municipal House, Powder Tower, Czech National Bank, and Palladium shopping mall. From the square leads Na příkopě street, the most expensive street among all states of the V4, connecting it with the Wenceslas Square.

10:00 Wenceslas Square (Václavské náměstí or colloquially Václavák) is one of the main city squares and the center of the business and cultural communities in the New Town of Prague, Czech Republic. Many historical events occurred there, and it is a traditional setting for demonstrations, celebrations, and other public gatherings. It is also the place with the heaviest pedestrian traffic in the whole country. The square is named after Saint Wenceslas, the patron saint of Bohemia. It is part of the historical center of Prague, a World Heritage Site.

00:00 The Žižkov TV Tower (Žižkovský vysílač) is a unique transmitter tower built in Prague between 1985 and 1992. Designed by the architect Václav Aulický and the structural engineer Jiří Kozák, it stands high above the city's traditional skyline from its position on top of a hill in the district of Žižkov, from which it takes its name. The tower is an example of high-tech architecture.
03:20 Jiřího z Poděbrad Square (George of Poděbrady Square, Náměstí Jiřího z Poděbrad) is located in Vinohrady district in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. There is also a stone fountain included. Metro and tram stops of the same are located on the court. 11:40 Rieger Gardens (Riegrovy sady) is a park with an area of 11 ha, located among the streets Polská, Chopinova, U Rajské zahrady, and Italská at an altitude that differs from 127 to 170 meters. The gardens originated in 1902 by linking the former park called Kanálka and the gardens of several homesteads: Saracinky, Švihanky, Pštrosky, and Kuchynky. Mostly they were former vineyards, e.g., the Andělka vineyard, named after the famous medieval pharmacist Angelo from Florence, where in 1783 Count Josef Emanuel Canal built a farm for noble animals breeding, and an experimental plant station with an orangery, aviaries, a small zoo, fountains, little lakes and pavilions, which was abolished and parcelled out between the years 1901 and 1903. The park was established between 1904 and 1908 by Leopold Batěk, a garden director at Vinohrady, after purchasing all properties from the Municipality of Vinohrady. Planting a natural English-style park in a sloping terrain was rather tricky.

Brno is NOT a day-trip kind of city. Yes, it is smaller than Prague but one should consider 2 nights minimum as there is so much to see and to experience. Brno is located 115 miles (186 km) SouthEast of Prague (Praha, Prag, Praga). Average round trip train tickets (Prague to Brno and back) can start from $15 (€13), depending on the season, class and which days. It is about 3 hour train ride so sit back pop on your headphones, have your camera or cell phone ready to record and enjoy the ride :-) You can NOT reserve tickets more than 60 days in advance. And UNLIKE Prague there is no scam places you need to worry about!!! My advice is to change your money in this city along the Masarykova Street, the main street (Before leaving to Prague exchange again :-) Plenty of cafes, restaurants, snack, bars and fast food places on that street as well before heading up towards the Liberty Square or to check in at your hotel. No need to take taxi or public transportation because from Brno Main Station (Brno hlavní nádraží or Brno hl. n.) to Liberty Square (Náměstí Svobody) is a very short walk of 8-10 minutes along Masarykova Street with a rolling luggage and backpack combined. In my opinion, this city should be visited during Easter (And you must try their green StaroBrno beer!!!) or Christmas looks to be fun but I've never been here during any other holidays then Easter time. Do NOT hesitate to wander outside of the main area of Brno Center because locals are very friendly and helpful, most of them are very curious of the visitors!!!
Everyone has heard of Prague but not many people know about this fun city called Brno (Brünn). Welcome to the second largest city in Czech Republic and the capital of Moravian region. Brno has the second largest university in Czech. Brno has the second largest population in the country. Google up on history of Brno from Spilberk Castle, Villa Tugendhat, Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, Liberty Square and Cabbage Market. Best of all, there are hardly any tourists!!! And no money exchange scam!!! This city has more local vibe, which I really enjoy. There are events happening all the time, so please check the calendar. Celebration of Easter and Christmas are very big in this city from folk music, dance, art and beautiful architectures.I highly recommend this city on your list if you are every in Czech Republic.

The largest railway station in the Czech Republic and the most important railway transport hub in Prague. The historic building and the hall under the railway tracks are among the largest monuments of Art Nouveau architecture in the Czech Republic. Opportunities to shop and eat before the road provide many shops and food outlets. Thematic exhibitions are periodically shown in the registration hall.
The station is located in the city center, near Wenceslas Square, at the intersection of three city districts (Nove Mesto, Vinohrady, Zizkov), and is connected to the metro line C - Main Station (Hlavní nádraží), trams No. 5, 9, 15, 26.
The Airport Express buses provide a direct connection to Václav Havel Prague Airport. Buses are equipped with an additional place for carrying luggage; stop directly in front of the station building. Travel time is 30 minutes.

Prague 4K walk: New Town, I.P. Pavlova, Ječná street, Dancing House - Czech Republic HDR ASMR
Today in our 4K Prague walk, we will move from Peace Square, through I.P. Pavlova, along Ječná street, and finish at the Dancing House. All our journey will take place in the New Town district.
The New Town (Czech: Nové Město) is a quarter in the city of Prague in the Czech Republic. New Town is the youngest and most prominent of the five independent (from the Middle Ages until 1784) towns that today comprise the historic center of modern Prague. New Town was founded in 1348 by Charles IV just outside the city walls to the east and south of the Old Town and encompassed an area of 7.5 km², about three times the size of the Old Town. The population of Prague in 1378 was well over 40,000, perhaps as much as twice that, making it the 4th most populated city north of the Alps and, by area, the 3rd largest city in Europe. Although New Town can trace its current layout to its construction in the 14th century, only a few churches and administrative buildings from this time survive. There are many secular and educational buildings in New Town and especially magnificent gothic and baroque churches. These nevertheless are not the main drawing points for tourists. New Town's most famous landmark is Wenceslas Square, originally built as a horse market and now functions as a center of commerce and tourism. In the 15th century, the Novoměstská radnice, or New Town Hall, was the site of the first of the three defenestrations of Prague.
No doubt, in connection with his coronation as king under the Holy Roman Empire in 1346, Charles IV decided to found a new city in Prague. After he had achieved the city's independence within the church with the creation of the Archbishopric of Prague in 1344, the foundation of the New Town was intended further to enhance the status of the city, which was the new residence of the king. In addition, the housing problem within the city walls of Prague that had already been apparent under Charles IV's father, John of Luxembourg, was crying out for a solution. Many people, mostly poorer Czechs, had settled in the suburbs situated at the base of the city walls, and the banks of the Vltava were almost continuously built over.
What was original about Charles IV's action was that instead of creating an administratively dependent suburb, or an extension of the old town, as was the usual practice, to make an independent royal city with its own legal in the New Town framework. Nevertheless, Charles planned a physical and legal union with the old part of town and decreed a joint administration in 1367; however, primarily due to the opposition of the two town councils, this failed and had to be abandoned as little as ten years later. After many rights and liberties had been granted to the inhabitants of the new city, the inhabitants of the old part of town, which was now enclosed by the New Town on all sides, likewise had their existing rights and liberties confirmed in writing. They were given the assurance of free access through both the northern gates of the New Town.
Together with the establishment of the New Town, the king made further efforts to increase the town's significance. It was not only to be the new residence of the king and a center for scholarship - on 7 April 1348, Charles University was founded as the first university in central Europe - and for the arts, but it was intended to become an important economic center in Central Europe. To that end, a shift of Central European traffic routes and the creation of new courses was planned and made the Vltava navigable; and the plans had been carried out to some extent. The construction of the New Town was probably essentially complete as early as 1367, at the time of the short-lived union with the Old Town.
The Dancing House (Tančící dům), or Fred and Ginger, is the nickname given to the building on the Rašínovo nábřeží (Rašín Embankment) in Prague, Czech Republic. House was designed by the Croatian-Czech architect Vlado Milunić in cooperation with Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry on a vacant riverfront plot. The construction was completed in 1996.
