Banjul officially the City of Banjul, is the capital and fourth largest city of The Gambia. It is the centre of the eponymous administrative division, which is home to an estimated 400,000 residents, making it The Gambia's largest and most densely populated metropolitan area. Banjul is on St Mary's Island (Banjul Island), where the Gambia River enters the Atlantic Ocean. The population of the city proper is 31,301, with the Greater Banjul Area, which includes the City of Banjul and the Kanifing Municipal Council, at a population of 413,397 (2013 census). The island is connected to the mainland to the west and the rest of Greater Banjul Area via bridges. There are also ferries linking Banjul to the mainland at the other side of the river. From 19th Century to 1973, the city was known as Bathurst.

Monkey Park Bijilo Ecotourism Forest Park and Nature Trails: with THE DEE'S
This park lays within a fenced in area that covers 126 acres/51 hectares. After we paid our D150 (per person) entrance fee and began our walk through a small path, I thought that we had wasted our time and money, THEN we saw the monkeys!!!!!! Watch me as I try over and over and over to (mostly unsuccessfully) feed the green (also known as the sabaeus) monkeys shelled peanuts. I did not know that they preferred apples more. 😂 Mrs. Dee and everyone else brought apples, they had a more interactive time feeding the green monkeys. And they sure had ALOT of fun. The monkeys were very delicate and their hands felt like pillows, you sometimes wondered if they were really touching you. We didn’t get a chance to see the Temminck's red colobus monkeys, and the Campbell's mona monkey were shy, but you should expect to see them, various birds, goats (yes and they’re cuties), giant termite mounds, cows, monitor lizards mongooses, bushbabys, snakes😁 and many more! We wish we had more time in this sanctuary, we had a blast and you will too! Btw way everyone call this park Monkey Park 😂

The Gambia Travel Vlog - I visit the largest market in Gambia, Serrekunda and a craft market!
Gambia Travel Vlog Episode 6: Senegambia Craft Market and Serrekunda Market
I was in need of some new clothes for myself and everyone recommended Serrekunda market. Here you'll find more western style clothes and less of the bright printed dresses targeted at tourists. Not that I have anything against them, I just prefer plain clothes.
I also show you all the best places to visit in the Senegambia Craft market as this could probably be a little overwhelming for a first-timer.

AFRICA DAY 14 Gambia 🇬🇲 West Coast Gunjur to East Side Soma 🏍 Moto Vlog
Day started amazing in Karamaluu garden lodge in Gambia, Gunjur.
Freshly made breakfast, with coffee and good vibes. Good atmosphere. Bajo was an amazing host, and we really got lucky by finding this place in the late night before after disaster Sunflower Lodge.
We continued our adventure towards east in Gambia with extremely getting hotter up to 38 degrees and reaching Soma where we had struggles finding a decent place where to stay over night.
Couple times we dropped the bike in the dark muddy places , broke the mirror.
Completely exhausted in the night and just wanted to sleep to continue east tomorrow

Gambia Stone Circle in Wassu - MOTO ADVENTURE AROUND AFRICA DAY 15
Day 15 started in Small town called Soma. Already with bad mood as we dropped our Motorcycle twice yesterday evening/ night. We drove to local workshop. We found out That our engine oil was low and our coolat was empty!!!
Afterwards we went to Stone circle to cheer up the mood after all the fill ups. On the way we got stopped by Police check point. They invited us to take a pause in the exteme heat wave of 41 degrees Celsius So we chilled with them and drank Baobab tree Ice packets. it was truly amazing and unforgettable life experience .
After spending amazing time with them we went to stone circle where Daniel accidentally dropped motorcycle on my leg...
Day ended in one of the local hotels that we saw as best option. there were 3 dogs that we befriended . it was lovey way to end the evening.
I enjoyed to learn history of African Stone Henge - Stone circle and the mysteries that are held up on it today1

Gambia, the smiling coast of Africa !
Gambia is the smallest country on the African continent. Completely surrounded by Senegal, it has a beautiful coastline of about 80 kilometers with countless beautiful beaches ! Gambia is blessed with beautiful little sleepy villages and an incredibly beautiful flora and fauna. There are also beautiful historical remnants of the English colonial past. But the most beautiful asset is the population itself. Every Gambian has a more than warm and friendly heart for its visitors !

AFRICA DAY 12 🏍 Friendly Customs and police officers. From Gambia Border to Banjul
Hello in day 12 of our journey trough Africa!
Day started amazing with some traditional green tea and nice chat with Custom officers that allowed us to stay in their post, as we missed last ferry to Gambia. It was indeed nice and extraordinary experience for us.
We got on the the ferry in middle of the day. It was unbearably hot and no shade to hide while we waited. As we got on the ferry we felt a lot better, until I started to feel sea sick. I hated it, but luckily the trip wasn’t too long, it was about 30-40 min boat trip.
As soon as we got off, we were in search for hotel where to stay. Found a nice place - One world village! It was truly amazing.
We were planning to go to Crocodile pool after our meal, but it got dark really fast and we decided to go the next day. Met nice people that now we are calling our friends. they helped us to settle in and feel like home.
Thank You very much.🦋 God Bless

My trip to The Gambia, part 2; Visiting Sotokoi, The Gambia
The village Sotokoi is situated in Niamina East, one of the ten districts of the Central River Division of The Gambia.
The inhabitants are all farmers. They cultivate groundnut, rice, beans and corn.
The rain season is the period to cultivate. It goes from June until Octobre. The period is to short to sustain food for the whole year.
At the age of 13 to 14 the children have to walk 5 kilometres to get to school. Some families can not afford it to send their children to school.
The hospital is 5 kilometres away from the village. When people are sick, they are brought to the hospital on a donkey-cart (also women in labour).
If you are interested in supporting the village (you can do so by donating money or goods), please write me an email: contact@marjaani.nl.
Thank you very much!
