4. Tel Shiloh is at an archaeological park called Ancient Shiloh, located at the entrance to modern-day Shiloh.
5. Shiloh was in the hill country of Samaria within the tribal allotment of Ephraim.
6. It was likely chosen as Israel's capital and military base due to its central location within the country.

Shiloh In the Bible
1. During the conquest of the Promised Land (7-year period), the Tabernacle resided principally at Gilgal (Josh. 4:19–24).
2. After the conquest of the land was basically complete, the Tabernacle was set up in Shiloh, where it would reside for 369 years (Joshua 18:1).
3. At Shiloh, lots were cast to divide the land among the 7 tribes who had not yet received their inheritance on the west side of the Jordan River (Joshua 18:2–3).
4. From Shiloh, Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh departed for their homes east of the Jordan River (Joshua 22:9).
5. After departing from Shiloh to return home, the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh built an altar at the Jordan River. The rest of the tribes misunderstood their purpose for the altar and met at Shiloh to go and fight against them.
Joshua 22:12: And when the people of Israel heard of it, the whole assembly of the people of Israel gathered at Shiloh to make war against them.
6. During a dark time in the book of Judges, the Benjamite tribe was almost wiped out by the other tribes of Israel because of their severe disobedience to God. To revive the population of Benjamin, wives were provided for them at Shiloh (Judges 21:19–21).
7. At Shiloh, Hannah prayed for a son. God heard her prayers and blessed her with Samuel (1 Samuel 1:3–5).
8. The sanctuary in Shiloh was called a temple, as noted in 1 Samuel 1:9, 3:3. It had doorposts and doors, as seen in 1 Samuel 1:9, 3:15. It was, therefore, a more durable structure than the old Tent of Meeting (tabernacle).
9. Eli and his wicked sons presided over the Tabernacle at Shiloh. Then, through the prophet Samuel, the doom of their house was announced (1 Samuel 3:11–13).
10. In a battle with the Philistines, the ark was captured. As a result, the fall of Hophni and Phinehas and the death of Eli happened near Shiloh (1 Samuel 4:16–18).
11. The Ark of the Covenant was returned to Beth Shemesh by the Philistines and ended up staying at Abinadab's house for 20 years (1 Sam. 7:1).
12. Eventually, King David would take the ark to the City of David (1 Chron. 13, 15), and then it would be moved to the temple Solomon built (2 Chron. 5:2).
13. After the Kingdom of Israel was divided, Jeroboam, King of the Northern Tribes, erected golden calf altars in Bethel and Dan for the worship of false gods. Over time, Shiloh fell into ruins and came under judgment from God (Psalm 78:59–61; Jeremiah 7:12).

6 Best Places To Visit In Meghalaya | Dawki |Whistling Village And More

Today I'm taking you to Meghalaya which means abode of clouds
This one has my ❤️
India is a land full of rivers.
1.Dawki river is actually one of the cleanest in the world.
The water is green and crystal clear.
The river seperates India and Bangladesh.
It has a 90 year old suspension bridge where I’m standing :))
Don't you feel the boats appear to be floating on an invisible glass surface?
A boat ride is a must when you visit Dawki!
Meghalaya is full of beautiful waterfalls. And this one for sure caught all my attention.
2.Phi Phi falls is located in the west Jantia hills.Isn't it gorgeous? Which ia the most beautiful waterfall you've seen?
Next we go to:
3. The living root bridges! These are suspension bridges made by shaping the roots of trees. Created by the people of the Khasi tribe, these roots grow from the ancient rubber trees, seen only in the northeast region. These roots are trained by the Khasis to grow in such a manner as be in the form of bridges on the top of a river. The most popular tourist attraction of Cherrapunjee, these double decker living root bridges are 2 bridges that are stacked one on the other, made because of the entanglement of roots. Climbing down 3200 steps was worth it!
Next is:
4. The Wei Sawdong Waterfall. The route to the bottom of the waterfalls is mostly bamboo bridges, stairs, and mud. It is extremely dangerous so be sure to wear proper trekking shoes. When wet, the bamboo is slippery so a hiking stick may help. I was super scared but the view was breathtaking. I'm in love with all the waterfalls here.
Next I'm taking you to the most unique village ever.
5. Kongthing village also called as the whistling village here the residents have three names: a regular name, a distinct melody and a shorter tune that is akin to a nickname. Each villager here has a distinct tune as his/her name that came stright out of their mothers heart a she held them in her arms. What melody would you name your best friend as?
Another unique gem Meghalaya hold is:
6. The Sacred forestWhat is a sacred or holy or blessed place for you??
The people of Meghalaya hold their forests as sacred and holy. You cannot take or leave behind anything in the forest. Leave only footprints and take back only memories they say. They worship their trees and forests. What if we, like them worshipped all of nature?? Wouldn't the world be a more beautiful place?!!!

Shiloh National Military Park - Tour Stops

To view the complete tour of Shiloh National Military Park visit...

Shiloh National Military Park preserves the American Civil War Shiloh and Corinth battlefields. The main section of the park is in the unincorporated town of Shiloh, about nine miles (14 km) south of Savannah, Tennessee, with an additional area located in the city of Corinth, Mississippi, 23 miles (37 km) southwest of Shiloh. The Battle of Shiloh (April 6–7, 1862) began a six-month struggle for the key railroad junction at Corinth. Afterward, Union forces marched from Pittsburg Landing to take Corinth in a May siege, then withstood an October Confederate counter-attack.

The visitor center provides exhibitions, films and a self-guided auto-tour.

The Battle of Shiloh was one of the first major battles in the Western Theater of the American Civil War. The two-day battle, April 6–7, 1862, involved about 65,000 Union troops under Ulysses S. Grant and Don Carlos Buell and 44,000 Confederates under Albert Sidney Johnston (killed in the battle) and P.G.T. Beauregard. The battle resulted in nearly 24,000 killed, wounded, and missing. The two days of fighting did not end in a decisive tactical victory for either side—the Union held the battlefield but failed to pursue the withdrawing Confederate forces. However, it was a decisive strategic defeat for the Confederate forces that had massed to oppose Grant's and Buell's invasion through Tennessee. After the Battle of Shiloh, the Union forces proceeded to capture Corinth and the critical railroad junction there.

The battlefield is named after Shiloh Methodist Church, a small log church near Pittsburg Landing, Tennessee. Pittsburg Landing is the point on the Tennessee River where the Union forces landed for the battle; they referred to the battle as The Battle of Pittsburg Landing.

Shiloh National Cemetery Tour

Shiloh National Cemetery Tour
In commemoration of the 160th Anniversary of the Battle of Shiloh, the National Park Service Rangers hosted Ranger Talks in April of 2022 at Shiloh National Military Park. Kay and her mom joined one of those talks for a tour of Shiloh National Cemetery. Please subscribe to our channel if you enjoy exploring our parks and public lands.
The Battle of Shiloh took place on April 6-7, 1862. In 1866 the War Department established a cemetery on 10 acres on the battlefield. It was first known as “Pittsburg Landing National Cemetery.” It was changed to Shiloh National Cemetery in 1889. In this video, Ranger Laura Lee McKellips presents fun facts and history of the National Cemetery including the grave of a woman who died during the Civil War; the flag bearers that were the first to fall in the battle, and many other facts about how the cemetery is set up.

At Happy Trails Hiking, we encourage you to live the life you love and seek solace and adventure in America’s Parks and Public Lands. We strive to motivate and inspire people through travel.
Kay and Matt have been planning park travel and traveling to parks across the country for 20+ years. Kay has planned trips to National Parks for High School groups as well as couples over the last 5 years. Their personal tips and trail guides can be found on their various social media platforms as well as on their website.
Our Park Travel videos come out on Mondays and Thursdays.
