Weekend trip to Idrija with our yellow Labrador Bina. A small, remote village, listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List - Idrija, is well known for second largest mercury mine in Europe and Idrija lace. It was one of the hottest weekend this summer and descending into the mine was a nice cool off. Another idea to cool off is Idrijca river. It might me too cold, but just walking barefoot around the water can be effective. Also, go for a shadow stroll following Rake – the mine’s water channel.

It's filled with with beautiful green glacier water, and hopefully you are there for nice weather, not like us.
Make sure that you also head over to the Savica waterfall, it's on the western side of the lake. it's about a 45 min climb to the top, it's definitely a unique water fall, being an A shape of 2 waterfalls coming out of the underground cave.
And stop by the Planinski Dom Savica after ,for a bite to eat....and yes...it does say bad and breakfast on their menu =)

My day started with a leisurely walk over to Tivoli Park where I stopped by the botanical gardens, small lakes and flower displays. It was quiet so I took the opportunity to fly my drone whilst I was there. From a couple of hundred feet I got some fabulous views of the entire park as well as the numerous walking trails spread all across Roznik Hill.
After stopping off at the pink church I headed over the river and up towards Ljubljana Castle which is located on top of a hill overlooking the city centre.The castle dates back to the 11th century and was a formidable fortress during the Middle Ages. The views across the city are worth the hike up but the views from atop the castle‘s main tower are totally worth paying the entrance fee for.
An entrance ticket will allow you to walk around the castle freely and read up on its history using one of the many information boards. There’s stories and legends to learn about too! My exploration took me from the dungeons all the way up to the tower where those aforementioned 360° views await.
I’d recommend visiting both Ljubljana Castle and Tivoli Park if time allows. I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere at the park and couldn’t get enough of those views from the very top of the castle.

I spend one full day in Julian Alps in Slovenia and followed Rick Steves’ guidebook called Croatia and Slovenia. His guide book is fantastic he gives great recommendation for these two countries. I highly recommend reading his book before traveling to Slovania and Croatia.

Villa Friuli Karst in Sezana Ljubljana Slovenia

You can rent a boat to spend the day taking sailing in Trieste or Piran Bay or sail farther to Italy or Croatia; with or without navigator.
If you want to try a ham or Teran, you can speak to a manager on the village, takes you to a local wine cellar in neighboring village or organize wine tasting in the surrounding winemakers or pršutarjih. In half an hour you can drive vVipavsko valley or Brda, where also you can enjoy good food and drink as well as many cultural and natural attractions. A culinary trip you can enrich with a visit to one of the caves in the vicinity.
