Palazzo Ducale di Sassuolo - A beautiful Baroque Palace near Modena Italy - (October 2020)

Palazzo Ducale di Sassuolo - Sassuolo is located 16 km south of Modena, and it can be easily reached by car or by train. The city of Sassuolo used to be the summer residence of the Dukes of Modena. The Estensi Family, Dukes of Modena, built many beautiful palaces around Italy. The Palazzo Ducale di Sassuolo was by Duke Francis the First. The architect that designed the Palazzo was Bartolomeo Avanzini. Inside the Palazzo is fresco by the French painter Jean Boulanger. The Palazzo is built and decorated in the baroque style, and it is meant to impress and amuse the guests. There are many peculiar paints inside, like the parrot escaping from its cage or the little angles playing with the fake tapestry. Just outside the Palazzo Ducale di Sassuolo, you can admire the vast park and the fountain called Peschiera Ducale.
The Palazzo is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 6 pm.

About us:
In March 2017, Rick and Andrea (confessed Travel Addicts) started a Facebook Group called Travel Addicts as a way to share their travel photos and videos not just with their own respective friend's lists – but with the world. Part of the reason was for bragging rights (I mean, that’s kind of the point of sharing photos, right?), but also to help answer questions to others about the destinations they have visited.

After inviting some of our friends and family, it grew and grew – and as of June 2019, the group has grown to over 200,000 members! One reason for our success, we believe, is that we have done our best to ensure only high-quality photos and videos get shared, all while limiting the use of commercial content.

2 Days Exploring Italy: TOP Tourist Highlights & Hidden Gems 🇮🇹

If you only have time for Italy travel in 2 days, make sure to see these spots.

Welcome back to this weeks YouTube video! We are Michael and acacia and this is our self converted van Yeti. We are currently parked up in the Berg River resort campsite just outside of Paarl, western cape. We are packing our bags preparing to leave the van for the next 2 weeks ! We will be flying out of the Cape Town international airport , embarking on a 30 hour journey as we fly to a new country. Our first time in Europe together, acacia first time ever out of the African continent. We are meeting up with 10 people to travel Italy , Switzerland and France.

We had 2 days in Italy. We landed in Milan and had 1 day to explore. Finding our hotel was quite tricky having no cell service. We staying in Milano Verticale Hotel, a nice central accommodation. We caught the train to do some sight seeing. We arrived at Piazza Del Square , with loads of architectural eye candy, ancient buildings, shops and restaurants. Duomo Cathedral is stunning to see , there is so much details throughout the building. You can walk around the exterior for free. Entering the cathedral has a price but is so worth it , you can wonder the underground and first floor. This is italys 3rd tallest church reaching 152meters high. You may even witness an ongoing ceremony inside the church. We then went into the oldest shopping mall , the details in the architecture is incredible to see. Here you can find any and every designer brand. Along with some restaurants. As you walk through you find the Leonardo de Vinci interactive museum. Here you’ll find many sculptures, ancient hand written diagrams etc.

We caught a train from Milan to Lake Como, Italy. We stayed in the Sheraton lake como hotel. A good central hotel , close to shops, restaurants and a boat terminal. We took a 1 hour ferry to the well known Italian village , Bellagio , perched along the banks of Lake Como. This little village is well know for it positioning on the lake , proving the best views as well as the little cobble stoned alleys with iconic Italian buildings and colours. Loads of little shops , restaurants and alleys to explore. We even found a private little beach. We then caught the ferry back to Lake Como where it was time to catch a few trains for a long day of train rides as we make our way to SWITZERLAND!

Join us next week as we explore Switzerland, mesmerising country ! #travelitaly #italytourism

Places to see in ( Modena - Italy ) Palazzo Ducale

Places to see in ( Modena - Italy ) Palazzo Ducale

The Ducal Palace of Modena is a Baroque palace in Modena, Italy. It was the residence of the Este Dukes of Modena between 1452 and 1859. It currently houses a portion of the Italian Military Academy. The palace occupies the site of the former Este Castle, once at the periphery of the city. Although generally credited to Bartolomeo Avanzini, it has been suggested that advice and guidance in the design process had been sought from Pietro da Cortona, Gian Lorenzo Bernini and Francesco Borromini.

The Palace has a Baroque façade from which the Honour Court and the Honour Staircase can be accessed. In 1696, Marcantonio Franceschini was commissioned to create a frescoed ceiling for the central Sala d'Onore (Hall of Honour) for the marriage of Rinaldo d'Este to Princess Charlotte Felicity of Brunswick.

The Salottino d'Oro (Golden Sitting Room), covered with gilded removable panels, was used by Duke Francis III as his main office.
The Palace currently houses the Italian Military Academy, the Military Museum and a library. Military ceremonies are held in the Honour Court.
