A FANTASTIC Drive Home Through Utah to Arizona | There Are Viewpoints & Then There Are VIEWPOINTS
As we depart from our epic Utah and Colorado road trip, we can't help but reminisce on the unforgettable views of red rock canyons and stunning vistas. The journey may be over for now, but we can't wait until our return to the awe-inspiring landscapes of Utah!
It's time to drive home from our 2023 Utah and Colorado road trip. With heavy hearts, we leave Green River, Utah, and head through some of the prettiest landscapes imaginable. Winding roads through red rock sandstone, canyons deep below, and the beckoning of home inspired us on this last day of the trip.
We gas up and hit the road from Hanksville, Utah along Route 95 until we neared the Colorado River and stopped to take in some views at a scenic overlook as well as by the Hite Crossing Bridge. It's amazing to imagine the length of time it took for the Colorado River to slowly carve away at the sandstone to create the red cliffs before us.
The Hite Crossing Bridge, built in 1966, makes for an easy way to cross the Colorado River, but before that the river was forded downstream or travelers with cars would later take an automobile ferry.
Finally, we say our goodbyes to familiar sights from a week prior when we were just setting off. Utah, we bid you goodbye but it won't be forever. We will return.

I love Gates Lake. It's a beautiful small lake located halfway between Salina Utah and Fish Lake. It's a dirt road but well maintained and the payoff is worth it. If you want to skip to the lake then go to about the 5 minute mark.

Where to live and visit in Utah | Map Tour | Living in Utah | Moving to Utah
So you’re thinking of moving to Utah but you have no clue where to start looking? You’ve heard of places like Salt Lake City, Park City, St. George, Moab, and Lake Powell but would not be able to point them out on a map and especially in relation to one another. Whether you are looking to move to Utah for work, play, retirement, or you have just heard great things about Utah, I’m going to go over the major areas of Utah and then dive deeper into Northern Utah in future videos, so keep an eye out for those.
Utah is 350 miles long and 270 miles wide
Population 3.27 million
Highest elevation: 13,528 at King’s Peak in the Uintah Mountains
Lowest elevation: 2,350 in SW corner of the state
Wasatch and Uintah mountain ranges are part of the Rocky mountains
85% of Utah’s population lives within 15 miles of the wasatch range.
Wasatch mountain range is typically referred to either the Wasatch front which is the west side of the range consisting of cities like Salt Lake, Ogden, and Provo. The Wasatch back consists of cities such as Park City, Heber, and Morgan.
There is public transportation run by UTA (Utah Transit Authority). There are:
*Front Runner (commuter train) - Ogden to Provo ($5 round trip ticket)
*Trax (light rail system) in Salt Lake City including out to the airport
*Buses
Salt Lake City was designed based on a grid system. The origin of the city is at Temple Square. Very easy to find an address in Salt Lake City because most are just numbers and N/S/E/W.

Drones over Utah's Wasatch Range Part 1
Please visit my web site for complete galleries on these and many more monumental locations there just wasn't space to include here.
This is a scouting visit to familiarize myself with the area. My real target is the Fall color change in the huge canyons of the Wasatch Range, which will occur in mid-September.
.
On this visit, I flew over Logan, Ogden, Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons, Farmington Canyon and The Alpine Loop . I also flew several lakes and dams on the East side of the Wasatch Range, which I now will not have to re-visit in September.
