Visit the Famous GALAPAGOS ISLANDS, ECUADOR | Galapagos Animals | Galapagos Beaches | Attractions
We could not go to Ecuador and not see the world-famous Galapagos Islands. We stayed in the main town of Puerto Ayora. Even though we were there for a short time we could not believe the diversity in the landscapes as well as the coolest Galapagos animals. To be able to be so close to wildlife and for it to be unbothered by our presence was a fun experience. We saw the giant tortoises at El Chato Ranch and one of the nicest Galapagos beaches at Playa el Garrapatero. We cannot wait to explore more of the Galapagos Islands such as San Cristobal and Isla Isabela.

saludos mis amigos. este es un mapa de Santa Lucía. Como isla volcánica, Santa Lucía es muy montañosa, siendo su punto más alto el Monte Gimie, a 950 metros sobre el nivel del mar. Los Pitons, dos tapones volcánicos montañosos, forman el monumento más famoso de la isla. Santa Lucía también alberga el único volcán del mundo, Sulphur Springs. Hay varias islas pequeñas frente a la costa, la más grande de las cuales son las Islas María, ubicadas en el sureste de la isla.
Santa Lucía es un país insular de las Antillas en el este del Caribe. The Galapagos in Ecuador is one big animal paradise. Nowhere in the world can you see wild animals so easily in their natural environment. We start on the island of Baltra and travel to Puerto Ayora on Santa Cruz. La playa Ballenita está localizada en la costa del Pacífico, ruta del Spondylus, Ecuador. Es una pequeña comunidad pesquera ubicada a 5 km de la ciudad de Santa Elena, y a menos de 2 km del Terminal Terrestre Regional de Santa Elena. Es el principal balneario de la ciudad debido a su corta distancia, forma parte de la SEM (Santa Elena Metropolitano).
En sus playas desembarcó el Cap. Francisco Pizarro el 18 de agosto de 1526, cuando descubrió la península, y le dio ese nombre por existir en sus aguas gran cantidad de esos cetáceos.
Está sobre acantilados pequeños y playas cercanas como Castillo y el punto de surf Chulluype. Cuenta con un clima perfecto para disfrutar de las actividades matutinas, vespertinas y nocturnas que allí se realizan.
La playa Ballenita cuenta con un clima desértico con pocas lluvias. Anualmente presenta una temperatura promedio de 25 °C, el mes más seco es junio, el más caluroso marzo con una temperatura de 26,6 °C y el más frío es el mes de agosto específicamente a mediados de éste la temperatura es de 22,3 °C aproximadamente.
Ballenita es el primer balneario de la provincia de Santa Elena y forma parte de los destinos de la Ruta del Spondylus por ello es reconocida como una playa de relajación y diversión, En la orilla del mar se practican el surf, bodyboard, skimboard, buceo, estos entre otros deportes son unos de los atractivos turísticos que brinda también esta playa.
En el peñón oeste de la playa pueden ser observadas las ballenas de cola blanca, conocidas también como “las sirenas de Ballenita” debido a que entre los pobladores (pescadores y marineros) ha sido difundida tras generaciones la historia que en años pasados las ballenas de cola blanca podían ser escuchadas cantando angelicales melodías y destacan que eran pocos quienes podían observarlas.

El Malecón, inaugurado en agosto por el Municipio de Santa Elena y construido en 1.140 metros cuadrados, le imprime un nuevo aire a la playa, que tiene un pequeño acantilado y forma una ensenada.
El diseño está dominado por una columna cilíndrica de 20 metros de altura, como una suerte de faro. Se trata de un mirador panorámico de dos niveles, que sobresale 35 metros desde la orilla hacia el mar y que conecta con tierra con una rampa de hormigón que simula una especie de muelle.
La estructura dispone de muros de hormigón de 250 metros de extensión y unos 10 metros de altura, adornados con figuras de peces y colas de ballena, con escalinatas y rampas de acceso a la playa. La obra se construyó con una inversión de USD 4 450 000.
El alcalde de Santa Elena, Dionicio Gonzabay, indicó en la inauguración que el malecón enaltece el lugar donde nace la identidad peninsular, en referencia a Las Vegas, primera cultura arqueológica conocida que se asentó en los actuales territorios de Ecuador y que se desarrolló en Santa Elena hace más de 10.000 años.

Cuenca Ecuador Zoo, Spa Day, Santa Lucia Restaurant And The Orchestra!
Girls just want to have fun! My friend and I enjoyed a spa day followed by a mani/pedi day a few days later. We had a great lunch out at Santa Lucia. Garrett and I hiked the zoo. And I do mean hiked. Lots of hills. It took us about 3 hours to complete. We earned our beer that day. Last but not least we enjoyed a night on the town which included a performance by the Cuenca Symphony Orchestra.

At age 50 we left our jobs, sold most of our belongings, and decided to follow our dream of international travel for seven to nine months a year. Our goal is not to visit the most countries or see the most sites in a short amount of time, but to spend several months in each county that we visit, becoming immersed in the local area. When not traveling internationally, we hope to spend time visiting various beaches, cities, and national parks across the United States. We will show not only where we are going and what we are doing, but also provide practical advice on how to travel and explore on a reasonable budget in a relaxed and leisurely manner. 2022-10-23: Santa Lucía Forest School: In Search of the Andean Bear (Tremarctos ornatus)
On 23rd of October 2022 we went on a very special expedition with our forest school. Our neighbor - the Maquipucuna Reserve - was in bear season and they kindly invited us for a day in their reserve where we had the chance to see Andean Bears in the wild. Experienced members of the Maquipucuna staff (Carlos Cevilla and Lisandro Delgado) spotted the bears for us and while we did some forest exploration of our own we were very happy about their help and contribution to our adventure. Rodrigo Ontaneda, Rebeca Justicia and Loredana Guitierrez helped us with extra information on the Bears and the necessary guidelines for our adventure.
Thank you Maquipucuna and thanks all you young explorers, you all made this a wonderful adventure.
