Driving in Italy: Valpolicella (Part 2) - Gargagnago, San Giorgio, Sant'Ambrogio | 4K 60fps
Driving another route through scenic parts of Valpolicella (region of Verona, Italy). Ride along on curvy hillside roads towards San Giorgio di Valpolicella. This small village on Monte Solane welcomes us with its church and narrow streets, as well as a majestic panorama over the surrounding area.
Chapters:

00:12 Exiting Fumane
02:21 Bure (San Pietro in Cariano)
03:11 Gargagnago
07:57 San Giorgio
10:50 Historic center of San Giorgio
17:47 Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella
24:42 Sega
27:26 Ronchi
We begin our ride from Fumane, where we first drive towards Bure before reaching Gargagnago - a small village you might not only want to remember because of its four column church front, but also because it's the only italian village with four g in its name.
On we go, heading up the curvy hillside streets with beautiful views left and right. Soon we enter San Giorgio (the area) and drive towards its historic center; of course after checking carefully that the rules for the ZTL (zona a traffico limitato) does not apply. The piazza of San Giorgio (the village) welcomes us with its cobblestone streets and beautiful buildings. At the end of the cobblestone area, you can see a viewpoint offering on sunny days even a glimpse of Lake Garda!
But instead of stopping we keep driving, our journey hasn't ended yet: Driving down Monte Solane, we aim roughly for Lazise. On our way we pass through Sega and Ronchi, and see a mixture of industrial areas and beautiful views. As we drive into the sunset, Part 2 of our Valpolicella series ends.

From ancient Roman architecture to picturesque views, Verona has it all! A Stroll Through Verona
1. Arena di Verona (00:10)
We kick off our tour with the Arena di Verona, one of Italy's most famous Roman amphitheaters and the third largest in the country. The Arena’s grand architecture and incredible acoustics make it a must-see landmark.

VALPOLICELLA EXPERIENCE IN VERONA.
Verona is a city overcrowded with tourists all year round. But if you move away from the tourist trails, you’ll find old places like Osteria Monte Baldo, loved by the Veronese for its prefect food quality and persistent adherence to the city’s culinary traditions.
Amarone Experience is not just a rather substantial and exquisite lunch or dinner. It is a whole culinary journey for those who want to discover the real taste and flavor of Verona.
The first act of this unusual and appetizing performance consists of “tartine” or “cicchetti”, a set of various small sandwiches. This format came to Verona from the Venetian “bacari” – small pubs, where one can quickly drink a glass of wine and have a good snack right at the counter, without sitting at the table.
Tartine by the Osteria Monte Baldo make for a truly refined and beautiful dish. You will be offered four different tastes to choose from, accompanied by a glass of Valpolicella Ripasso DOC, a classic red wine from the Valpolicella Valley that is produced by double fermentation. If you prefer white wine, choose Durello Lessini DOC, a bright, sparkling local wine that has been aged for at least three years.
Next comes the real Verona legend: risotto with Amarone: high quality local rice Vialone Nano Veronese IGP, cooked in red wine with cheese, butter and secret vegetable broth. Only a really skilled chef can cook this strong-flavored exquisite dish. It is served with the legendary Amarone DOCG wine – one of the most famous not only in Italy, but world-wide. Amarone’s high price derives from its peculiar production technology: the grapes, mainly harvested from old vines, are naturally dried for 120 days and only then are pressed.
For dessert you’ll have an incredible tiramisu made according to the special recipe of Osteria Monte Baldo, and a glass of Recioto, one of the oldest wines of Italy. The ancient Romans enjoyed drinking it and even Dante preferred this sweet and rough wine.
This culinary adventure ends with a cup of aromatic coffee.
The tasting lasts about one hour.

Valpolicella, Italy Land of sunshine, vineyards, dolce vita and digital water - Unravel Travel TV
In the winemaking countryside of the Valpolicella in Italy, water management is a key issue. The local water utility, the Consorzio di Bonifica Veronese, has now found a way to cut operational costs in its plants by up to 30 percent – thanks to the ABB Ability™ Electrical Distribution Control System.
SCRIPT:
The Valpolicella, in northern Italy. A land of sunshine, vineyards and dolce vita. And key to it all – not least for the region’s numerous wine-makers – is the precious resource of water.
SOUNDBITE 1,
Celestino Gaspari, Owner of Zyme winemakers (Italian, 36 sec):
“The climate has really changed a lot in the last 30 years. // Today, the only thing we really can control is irrigation, whereas in the past land irrigation across the entire area was impossible. Now most of the vineyard is served by an irrigation system. However, irrigation is always carried out with an eye towards water conservation; that is why we have installed a drip irrigation system, which, by means of special drippers, allows us to fully control irrigation.
The consortium responsible for managing irrigation has been working here since the middle ages. Their network of pumping stations and hydroelectric plants is spread across rural parts of the Valpolicella. Until recently, this equipment had to be checked in person for any supervision or maintenance issues. But now, it’s been fitted with ABB Ability software that means it can connect with the cloud, and send data to operators remotely.
SOUNDBITE 2,
Riccardo Tosi, Operations Director, Consorzio di Bonifica Veronese (Italian, 38 sec):
In the past, before the ABB Ability System, the daily life of the pumping station operator used to be very difficult, because in addition to normal activity, the operator also had to supervise all the power management systems. Adopting ABB Ability has brought about a radical change in the operator's life. As well as increased peace of mind, now the operator can also manage the plants from their own enabled devices, like a smartphone or tablet.
For these plants, that’s brought a 30 percent reduction in operating costs. And giving electric installations eyes and ears has even more far-reaching effects – by harnessing the possibilities of big data.
SOUNDBITE
Nicola Scarpelli, Product Manager, Connectivity and System Solutions, ABB (English, 34 sec):
“ABB Ability Electrical Distribution Control System is, I would say, a groundbreaking innovation because we connect directly our circuit-breakers and all the other electrical equipment inside, from the medium-voltage to the sockets – connect them through Emax 2, our circuit breakers, to the cloud platform, to the IoT. And thanks to this, we get data, we correlate data, we leverage algorithms to provide services, digital services and solutions to help them perform better in their daily activities.” With the data and connectivity now at their fingertips, this consortium can boost energy efficiency and simplify maintenance, while gathering crucial information about how their facilities run. That, say engineers, is what ABB Ability does best. Which means the farmers of the Valpolicella can concentrate on doing what they do best.
