The Isle of Wight is a cocktail of all the best things one would love to see and do in an ideal location. Though it's only a small island, it is a popular vacation destination with hundreds of tourist attractions within its borders. It has some of the best dining establishments and accommodations in the world. The destination boasts awesome amusement parks, beautiful gardens and natural wonders, just to mention a few. One of the best things to do on the island is to visit Quarr Abbey. Its afternoon tea is worth a sip.
Aside from that, the destination is surrounded by lush vegetation, making it great for strolls and relaxation. Another of the best things to do is visit Robin Hill Country Park. It has an adventure playground, an awesome theme park, and a country-calm vibe. The 90 acres of the park offer a wide range of activities for the entire family. There is always something going on at the park, so there's never a dull moment. In the spring, there are Easter Egg hunts, Eklectica music festival in the summer, and Electric Lights that see the woods lit up with lanterns during the fall.
While the Isle of Wight is endowed with popular vacation destinations, it is also a symbol of historic importance. A place like Carisbrooke Castle is rich in English history. There is more than enough to do and watch at the castle to have a wonderful time. You can take a stroll along the castle's battlements or explore the Carisbrooke Castle Museum in the Great Hall. Be sure to experience the warm climate and beautiful coastline of the region for yourself.

What about the Isle of Wight? What is it?
The Isle of Wight is a county and the largest and second-most populous island in England. It is in the English Channel, about 2 miles (3.2 km) off the coast of Hampshire, separated by the Solent. The island has resorts that have been holiday destinations since Victorian times.
The island has a maritime and industrial tradition including boat-building, sail-making, the manufacture of flying boats, the hovercraft, and Britain's space rockets. The island hosts annual music festivals including the Isle of Wight Festival, which in 1970 was the largest rock music event ever held. It has well-conserved wildlife and some of the richest cliffs and quarries for dinosaur fossils in Europe.
The isle was owned by a Norman family until 1293 and was earlier a kingdom in its own right. The island has played an important part in the defence of the ports of Southampton and Portsmouth, and been near the front-line of conflicts through the ages, including the Spanish Armada and the Battle of Britain. Rural for most of its history, its Victorian fashionability and the growing affordability of holidays led to significant urban development during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The quickest public transport link to the mainland is the hovercraft from Ryde to Southsea; three ferry and two catamaran services cross the Solent to Southampton, Lymington and Portsmouth.
What about The Garlic Farm?
They've been growing garlic on the Isle of Wight ever since Granny Norah planted those first few cloves in her garden over 50 years ago. They have spent all the years since exploring its history and origins, experimenting with the many different varieties here on the Island and creating many garlic infused products from garlic chutney to garlic beer and garlic ice cream.
Colin and Jenny (Mum and Dad) have even travelled to the mountains of Georgia and Kazakhstan (see the Garlic Farmer's Blog) in search of the Mother of all garlic and Colin continues to make garlic connections across the globe. Colin and Jenny's daughter Natasha has written three fantastic books on cooking with garlic and how to get the most of it's amazing health benefits. Their daughter, Josephine, runs the Garlic Farm Field Kitchen at events, shows and music festivals offering delicious garlic inspired grub to hungry festival goers. Their son, Hugo, looks after the farm's holiday cottages and yurts, as well as playing gypsy jazz guitar in his band, Cat Skellington who can on occasion be found playing in the farm restaurant.
Natasha and her husband Barnaby now oversee the day-to-day business operations while Colin and Jenny remain actively involved in the business. The amazingly hard working and dedicated Garlic Farm team is growing with the business and reaches up to 70 people in the height of the summer season.

“hello my friends today i'd love to share something a little bit different with you it's a route essentially we are now in the isle of wight and the southernmost point of it this is the southern coast and the military road that runs along the coastline offers you so many wonderful spots to enjoy and admire the view there are many bays many car parks many little places where you can pull up get out of the car and enjoy the view so if you are a view hunter like myself this route is the way forward on the up the hill from the Chale we'll see an ancient rocket this behind me is the pepper pot one of the oldest lighthouses on the isle of wight it fell into disrepair and disused in 1538 however the main shaft the main beacon was used up until 17th century if you let your imagination play a little bit look at this doesn't it remind you of a rocket to me it just looks like a fossilized rocket so my fellow view hunters this is the ultimate beauty spot to enjoy and admire the views it has got so many little nooks and crannies
little spots where people can have picnics it really is worth a visit it's called the Chale we are going through the devil's chimney the pathway that runs from the hill all the way towards the lighthouse and now we have reached knight and blindingly white lighthouse right there in the southernmost point of the island and doesn't it just look amazing look at the way that the colors work together especially on a wonderful sunny day like this saint catherine's lighthouse was built in 1323 on the orders of the pope himself that happened after a massive cargo ship
was destroyed on the cliffs because of the poor visibility the new lighthouse was built much later in 1838 and it simply shines i personally found it
really hard almost impossible to look at without sunglasses gosh what a view but before i say goodbye there's something i'd like to ask you are there any towns villages or cities in england that you would like me to cover the same way i do my vlogs and if so please let me know in the comment section down below and until next thursday bye bye”

Sandown is a town in Rockingham County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 5,986 at the 2010 census. Once part of Kingston, Sandown was incorporated as a separate town in 1756 by Colonial Governor Benning Wentworth. It was named for picturesque Sandown on the Isle of Wight. The first minister of Sandown, Reverend Joseph Cotton, built the Sandown Meeting House in 1774. It had an 11 foot high pulpit and marble columns supporting the gallery, and is still an excellent example of early New England church architecture. In fact, the meetinghouse is said to be the finest of its type in New Hampshire, with outstanding craftsmanship and architectural details.

Visiting the 'Great Rock' at Sandown Town Forest
I only had time for a short hike, so I headed over to the Sandown Town Forest to check out the 'great rock' cliff that I read was there. It was impressive but unfortunately, as I read online, the bottom of the rock was vandalized.

Best model Village in the world, Godshill, Isle of Wight
#ModelVillage quick tour High Street, #GODSHILL, Isle of Wight, PO38 3HH. RHS Partner Garden This beautiful Model Village nestles in the grounds of the Old Vicarage. Set in nearly two acres of gorgeous landscaped gardens this is a real retro find - a quintessentially English visitor attraction. You will find scale models of Shanklin and Godshill villages as they were in the 1920's. Our cottages, pubs and churches are faithfully reproduced versions of the real buildings in 1/10th scale. Our garden railway is a must see - a snapshot of the Island Line of yesteryear!
As an #RHS Partner Garden the Model Village is an unexpected place to find a huge collection of conifers and trees but here we have created a large collection of niwaki and cloud pruned specimens. Over the years we have gathered over 3,000 trees and shrubs to create our display. As with the Japanese tradition we have concentrated on using a chosen range of trees sculpting them individually, for maximum effect, to create the right atmosphere to offset the models. We buy in small specimens and then Fred our Gardener will plant, prune and shape them as they grow. Some of our trees are over 40 years old and have been shaped to retain their scale to the model houses. Our garden is unique on the Island providing inspiration for the novice gardener and envy for the expert!

ISLE OF WIGHT ENGLAND TRAVEL VLOG pt. 1 ◆ WightLink, Osborne House, The Swiss Cottage, & Sandwiches!
[Filmed October 10, 2020] PLEASE NOTE: The Isle of Wight was in Tier 1 at the time this video was filmed, which meant there were no restrictions on travel apart from not traveling to other UK areas that were in higher tiers. We had already completed our two-week travel quarantine in strict accordance with UK govt rules, and we stringently practiced hands-face-space safety precautions.
With that, the UK is in a lockdown on the date this video is being released. As a result, some activities that you will watch us do are not currently possible, and we are not promoting that you do them until they are deemed safe in the future.
_____________________________________________________________________
In this video, Derek and I wake up early to take the Wightlink ferry from our home base of Portsmouth to Fishbourne on the Isle of Wight.
Since we docked in Fishbourne before 9am, we grabbed some breakfast in East Cowes before heading to Osborne House when it opened at 10am. We had made reservations to tour the Victorian palace using our English Heritage membership when it first opened!
Derek and I absolutely loved touring the estate and the grounds while learning about Queen Victoria's daily life, relatable dog obsession, and her large family! The Swiss Cottage was especially charming for adults and children alike. I feel that Osborne House would be a great landmark to visit for people of any age!
Since we took so much footage on this day, the second half of our day-trip to the Isle of Wight will be released in another video later this week!
Hope you enjoy this vlog! Happy travels!

A Look Around Smithfield, Isle of Wight and Windsor, Virginia
Smithfield, Virginia is known for being the home of Smithfield Foods but there is more to this town. They have Windsor Castle Park Trail which has 3.8 miles of scenery as well as the Windsor Castle Manor itself. The Isle of Wight County Museum is here, and they have The World's Oldest Ham and The World's Only Peanut and the 1750 Isle of Wight Courthouse from the towns days as the County Seat is another museum with some real cool artifacts. The Wharf Hill Brewing Company is a great brewery/restaurant which is where I go in this video to grab a stout and some good food. Once we leave Smithfield, we will see Isle of White Courthouse which is home to the modern-day courthouse as well as Boykin's Tavern. After Isle of Wight Courthouse, we will continue down U.S Highway 258 to Windsor, Virginia and see some greatly done murals.

Known for its colourful sands, which are often sold in glass vessels around the Island this mainly shingle beach is a must for all age groups as there is so much to see and do. Located at the westerly tip of the Island and famed for its iconic chalk stacks known as The Needles. The crystal clear waters are a favourite for local swimmers and perfect for the children to paddle. Enjoy watching the boats moor in the bay during the day and take a trip out to view the famous Needles and lighthouse from here.
Above Alum Bay is The Needles Park where you will find a range of attractions, catering facilities, a fully licensed tea room, retail shops and not to forget the Sand shop where you can fill your own shape with a choice of the Alum Bay sands! From the park you can descend down to the beach via the steps or ride the chairlift down in style. Fossil Hunters:From the beach access point, when facing out to sea, fossils can be found in both directions.
For much of the year access to the cliff base is restricted in order to protect the cliff from over enthusiastic fossil hunters. Please observe these restrictions and remember that this is an fragile, beautiful stretch of coast enjoyed by many. The best place to search for fossils is at the most southern side of the bay where the clay is slumping onto the foreshore and many fossils can be found on its surface; it’s possible to simply pluck some small specimens from the clay. There is a large car park at the Needles park or for those not wanting to drive the No 7 bus runs every 30 minutes from Newport or hop on the Island Breezer to view this beach and the other sites along the stunning West coast.
