LUOGHI DA VEDERE: Antiche rovine romane: anfiteatro romano dell'inizio del II secolo. Frammenti di mura cittadine degli antichi romani. Antiche tombe situate ad ovest dell'anfiteatro. Un bellissimo mosaico fu ritrovato nel 1852, ma fu subito distrutto.
Ruderi dell'antica città di Albintimilium: Si trova nella piana di Nervia, 5 km a est dell'abitato moderno.
Balzi Rossi cavera: Resti del Neolitico. Sono stati trovati diversi scheletri di uomini, donne e bambini del tipo umano Cro-Mognon.
Ventimiglia Vecchia: è costruita su una collina che domina la città nuova. Il pittoresco centro storico medievale della città, molto importante dal punto di vista storico e architettonico, è ancora in piedi oggi.
Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo: Fu edificata per la prima volta nel X secolo dai Conti di Ventmiglia sui resti di un tempio che qui si trovava prima del Cristianesimo. Successivamente fu donato ai Bendettini. Fu restaurata nel XII secolo in stile architettonico romanico. Ha subito perdite da un terremoto nel 1628. Nella costruzione di questo edificio sono presenti anche due pietre distanziatrici poste sull'antica strada romana Via Julia Augusta all'interno delle sue mura.
Cattedrale di Ventimiglia: Costruita su un antico tempio romano e costruita in stile architettonico romanico al posto di una fatiscente chiesa longobarda. È annesso un edificio del Battistero dell'XI secolo.
Biblioteca Comunale della città: dopo Venezia, in questa biblioteca si trova la più grande raccolta di manoscritti e libri stampati del XVII secolo in Italia.
Orto Botanico Villa Hanbury: L'orto botanico intorno alla villa costruita dall'inglese Sir Thomas Hanbury a La Mortola è il più grande orto botanico d'Italia. A causa del clima molto mite della città, contiene piante tropicali e subtropicali rare in Europa.
Castelli genovesi: Castel d'Appio, Forte San Paolo e Fortezza dell'Annunziata.

Umbria, Italy | La Festa dei Ceri Piccoli in Gubbio on June 2nd, the Italian National Day
Gubbio is a medieval town in the far northeastern part of the Italian Province of Perugia in Regione Umbria, central Italy. Gubbio has a beautiful historical center with a wonderful medieval appearance. The main tourist attractions include medieval monuments such as Palazzo dei Consoli (1332–1346), the 15th-century Palazzo Ducale, the 12th-century Cathedral (Duomo) with the precious art piece of the Umbrian school representing the Christ sculptured in wood over the altar, the 13th century church dedicated to San Francesco with frescoes in the left side dating from the 15th century. The medieval town center has several scenic terraces with breathtaking views of the surroundings. Many houses in the old town of Gubbio date back in the 14th and 15th centuries, and were originally the dwellings of wealthy merchants. Gubbio has two traditional medieval festivals in May. La Festa dei Ceri (Ceri Festival) is held on 15th May each year. On this occasion, three monumental wooden structures, surmounted by statues of the town’s three patron saints of the arts, are carried by ceraioli, running, through the streets on a 4-km journey that climbs to the top of Monte Igino to place the ceri inside the Basilica di Sant'Ubaldo. On this occasion, the streets are decorated in the colours of the three saints: the yellow of Sant’Ubaldo (patron of the town and protector of masons and stonecutters), the blue of S. Giorgio (protector of traders and artisans) and the black of Sant’Antonio (protector of farmers and students). La Festa dei Ceri is repeated on the 2nd of June, the Republic Day, when the children have their own festival named La Festa dei Ceri Piccoli.
The history of the town includes one of the most famous episodes in the life of Saint Francis of Assisi when the Saint allegedly tamed the wolf of Gubbio and made a reconciliation between the inhabitants of the town and the wolf.

The archaeological area of Roselle includes the remains of the ancient Etruscan city of Roselle ( Rusellae for the Romans ). It is located 8 kilometers north of the city of Grosseto . In 2016, the archaeological area recorded 18 716 visitors. Roselle was located 10 km from Grosseto , at the crossing point between the Ombrone valley and the Grosseto Maremma , on the shore of the ancient Lake Prile , and was an ancient lucumonie of central Etruria, a member of Etruscan Dodecapoli .
It preserves an overlap of buildings and walls belonging to the Villanovan , Etruscan and then Roman civilizations . The discovery of red-figure Attic vases testifies to the commercial contacts of the city with Greece and the Greek colonies of southern Italy. Founded in the seventh century BC , it was mentioned by Dionysius of Halicarnassus among the cities that brought aid to the Latins in the war against Tarquinio Prisco . It developed to the detriment of neighboring lucumonies in particular Vetulonia .
In 294 BC it was conquered by the Romans . It became the first Roman municipality and later, with Augustus colony . The Forum and the basilica date back to this period, a system for collecting rainwater and a thermal building. Traces of an amphitheater and villas are also preserved. Starting from the sixth century it fell like all the Maremma , scourged by malaria . The city was abandoned until the reclamation of the area by Pietro Leopoldo at the end of the eighteenth century. In the fifties the remains of the ancient buildings were brought to light through a long campaign of excavations carried out by the archaeologist Aldo Mazzolai .
The walls were built by the Etruscans between the seventh and sixth centuries BC The perimeter of the wall circuit is over 3 km, with an average height of about 7 m. The first traces of frequentation of this area of the settlement are with some layers containing findings of Villanovan age and of late VII - beginning VI century BC
On the southern side of the forum, near the domus of the mosaics, are the archaeological remains of the ancient Roman temple of the flamines Augustales , which was built during the Imperial period ( 1st century AD ). The pagan place of worship was transformed in the early Middle Ages into a place of Christian worship, dedicated to San Silvestro , whose existence is ascertained starting from 765
On the slopes of the northern hill a Roman thermal complex has been found , characterized by walls that in elevation have the technique of ' opus reticulatum with plinth and brick locks, while in the foundation there is the opus caementicium . The structure is divided into two sectors, with an intermediate area of unclear angles.
The necropolis that develops around the church is organized by terraces : the burials have a distribution dictated by constant distances and have a good construction technique. Built in the high medieval era outside the walls, its archaeological remains are preserved in the area of Poggio Mosconcino , in La Canonica , between the ancient civitas and the Tino di Moscona . Attached to the church there are also the remains of the rectory , which served as a bishop's residence until 1138 , the year of the transfer of the Rosellana diocese to Grosseto .
