*Cómo llegar a San Luis Potosí

Drive with me around San Luis Potosí historic center| History + places to visit| Tour

San Luis Potosi's historic center is a remarkable place to explore. The city's rich history, colonial architecture, and numerous churches make it a captivating destination.
It's intriguing to learn that the city was founded due to the discovery of gold and silver deposits in Cerro de San Pedro. The transformation of Cerro de San Pedro from a mining town to a ghost town and now a tourist spot is quite remarkable.

San Luis Potosí is often regarded as the cradle of the Mexican Revolution, boasts significant historical importance. It served as Mexico's capital twice and holds a strategic location as an intermediate point between major cities and ports. The city has witnessed recent economic growth, driven by the development of numerous industrial parks, including those housing major companies like BMW and General Motors.

The state's expansive territory, resembling a dog's shape, encompasses diverse attractions. In the semi-desertic region, places like Real de Catorce, Cerro de San Pedro, and San Luis Potosí city are worth exploring. The jungle region offers natural wonders such as Sotano de las Golondrinas, waterfalls, and lakes in Rio Verde, Ciudad Valles, El Naranjo, Tamasopo, Xilitla, and the Edward James sculpture garden.

Despite concerns about safety due to reports of cartels in some regions, I felt safe exploring the state and of course I recommend taking common-sense precautions.

The city features the longest pedestrian avenue in Latin America, Calzada de Guadalupe, with attractions like the Caja del Agua and Centro de las Artes, housed in the former State Penitentiary. Tangamanga Park, one of the country's largest parks, offers recreational spaces, theaters, museums, and a large lake.

The Metropolitan Cathedral of San Luis Potosí, considered the state's most important monument, showcases baroque and neoclassical architecture. Plaza del Carmen, the city's largest square, hosts significant landmarks, including Templo del Carmen and museums. Plaza Fundadores, the birthplace of the city, features historic buildings like Compañía Church and the Government Palace, surrounded by shops and restaurants.

I hope you enjoy this driving tour and the information provided.

🇲🇽 SPECTACULAR San Luis POTOSÍ | The Most ICONIC CITY in Mexico? | TRAVEL MEXICO 2022

🇲🇽 SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico - For part 19 of my 2022 Mexico Travel series we’re back in the legendary San Luis Potosí, a city and state I have now visited 4 times. You can check out the playlist of videos below!

FULL SAN LUIS PLAYLIST -

This video is very much a REMAKE, incorporating points from previous videos (particularly for newer viewers, there about 20000 new viewers since I first filmed in SLP). San Luis is the home to Costanzo Chocolates, Enchiladas Potosinas and Huastecas (awesome comida Mexicana - Mexican food!) and the gateway to other spectacular destinations in the state such as Huasteca Potosina, Xilitla, the Edward James Garden, Real de Catorce, and Cerro de San Pedro, all of which I have visited in the past! There are plenty of things to do and places to visit in SLP!

San Luis is absolutely a growing Mexico tourism destination in Mexico. It’s even becoming more popular with expats or those wishing to move to Mexico. In this video we check out a number of the awesome churches and cathedrals, eat Princesas (Costanzos), visit Parque Alameda and more!

Many ask whether Mexico is safe or dangerous and as a result, stick to Guanajuato or San Miguel de Allende. The fact is, SLP is just as beautiful and is absolutely a viable destination! Potosinos and Potosinas are probably some of the proudest people in Mexico and will always welcome you with open arms!

Head over to for Travel, Digital Nomad and Teaching blog posts incorporating video, text and photography, purchase my Teaching Online Ebooks (also at take advantage of my affiliates and even book an English lesson with me at 🇲🇽 SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, MEXICO - Hola amigos! It's time for PART 3 of my THREE PART Return to San Luis series after visiting this Central Mexican state in February 2019!

This time we plan to visit Parque Tangamanga 2 and Saucito Cementerio, but end up doing a whole lot more such as gatecrashing a wedding and going on the Tranvia Turistico around San Luis for the first time like a proper tourist! It gives you a great bird's eye view of all the things to do in San Luis Potosi and places to vist from churches, parks and more!

Parque Tangamanga 2 is the second Tangamang Park in San Luis and is on the site of the former airport, plus it's home to a racing track. Saucito Cemetery is HUGE, full of graves, tombs and mausoleums of San Luis residents - a hugely important location for Potosinos and Potosinas alike!

Don't forget to check out my San Luis Potosi playlist, with more videos from Xilitla, Cedral and Real de Catorce and more! Next up, Zacatecas!
