Belarus Gomel City Park Walking Tour 4K HDR | EXPAND CAME TO BELARUS!!!
In this video, we are going to walk in The Gomel Palace & Park
About Gomel Park :
Spending time in this enchanting place is truly a memorable experience. Viewing the beauty of such a historic park and enjoying the serenity allows one to take in the breathtaking surroundings with real pleasure. The park is filled with well preserved mature trees. The walks of hand laid stone make it easy to navigate its seemingly endless paths.
Small red squirrels forage around happily occupying their tiny residences which were carefully constructed for them and placed in convenient spots in the trees.
The gardens within the park bloom in colored beauty. There is a mini trolley which we took through the park, down to the beautiful white and black swan inhabited lake.
About Gomel City :
Gomel is the largest south-eastern region of Belarus, boasts unique natural, economic, and intellectual resources and represents a significant tourist attraction.
For some time, Gomel was the capital of the Gomel Principality, before it became part of the Principality of Chernigov.
About Belarus :
Belarus is a landlocked country in Eastern Europe. It is bordered by Russia to the east and northeast, Ukraine to the south, Poland to the west, and Lithuania and Latvia to the northwest.
The current population of Belarus in 2023 is 9,498,238
Belarus is famous for its forests and lakes – no wonder it is called the «lungs of Europe». There are many wide bright avenues and narrow cobbled streets, Catholic churches and Orthodox cathedrals, majestic castles and wooden huts in the villages, hearty and delicious national cuisine in Belarus.

We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.
We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.
We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.
Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.
Want to grab some great gear? We have used Osprey Packs for years & swear by them. Check them out here
Need some clothing for your next adventure? Patagonia has some pretty good stuff for all kinds of travelers.

The Centre Of Grodno (Belarus) July 2019
The modern city of Grodno originated as a small fortress and a fortified trading outpost maintained by the Rurikid princes on the border with the lands of the Baltic tribal union of the Yotvingians. The first reference to Grodno dates to 1005.[3]
Orthodox church of Sts. Boris and Gleb (12th century)
The official foundation year is 1127. At this year Grodno was mentioned in the Primary Chronicle as Goroden' and located at a crossing of numerous trading routes, this Slavic settlement, possibly originating as far as the late 10th century, became the capital of a poorly attested but separate principality, ruled by Yaroslav the Wise's grandson and his descendants.[3]
Along with Navahrudak, Grodno was regarded as the main city on the western borderlands of Black Ruthenia. The border region neighboured the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It was often attacked by various invaders, especially the Teutonic Knights. In the 1240–1250s the Grodno area, as well as the most of Black Ruthenia, was controlled by princes of Lithuanian origin (Mindaugas and others) to form the Baltic state—Grand Duchy of Lithuania—on these territories. After the Prussian uprisings a large population of Old Prussians moved to the region. The famous Lithuanian Grand Duke Vytautas was the prince of Grodno from 1376 to 1392, and he stayed there during his preparations for the Battle of Grunwald (1410). Since 1413, Grodno had been the administrative center of a powiat in Trakai Voivodeship.

Belarus: The resort Naroch, Evidence of the first world war
Narach is a part of the Narach lake group. It was formed about 11 thousand years ago after the Pleistocene ice ages. The lake is surrounded by pine forests.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, fierce battles between Russians and Germans took place in the vicinity of Lake Naroch. The Lake Naroch Offensive in 1916 was an unsuccessful Russian offensive on the Eastern Front in World War I. It was launched at the request of Marshal Joseph Joffre and intended to relieve the German pressure on French forces.

------------------------------
The Maly Trostenets, or Maly Trascianiec, concentration camp sits on the outskirts of Minsk, Belarus, originally built by the Nazis in the summer of 1941, on the site of a Soviet kolkhoz (a collective farm).
The camp initially held Soviet prisoners of war that were captured after the German advance on the Soviet Union, which began on June 22, 1941, known as Operation Barbarossa. But it became a Vernichtungslager, or an extermination camp, on May 10, 1942, when the first transport of Jews arrived there, from Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria, and the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia (present-day Czech Republic).
Many were even killed before reaching the camp, as they were brought to the nearby Blagovshchina (Благовщина) and Shashkovka (Шашковка) Forests, where they were shot in the back of the neck. Most of the victims were lined up in front of large pits and shot. Tractors then flattened the pits out. The prisoners in the camp were forced to sort through the victims’ possessions and maintain the camp. However, the primary purpose of the extermination camp was the eradication of the Jewish population of Minsk and the surrounding areas, by means of mobile gas chambers.
In 1943, the Germans began mass extermination of the prisoners in the camp, which continued into 1944. On June 28, 1944, as the Red Army approached the region, the Nazis bombed the camp in an attempt to obliterate evidence of its existence, in coordination with the goals of Aktion 1005. They locked up the remaining prisoners as well, and burned the buildings to the ground. But the Soviets are said to have discovered 34 grave‑pits, some measuring as much as 50 meters in length and 3 to 4 meters in depth, located in the Blagovshchina Forest some 500 meters from the Minsk–Mogilev highway (according to the special report prepared by the Soviet Extraordinary State Commission in the 1940s).
Original estimates of the number of people killed there ranged from 200,000 to more than half a million. Yad Vashem currently estimates that 65,000 Jews were murdered at the camp, and signage there indicates that the camp claimed 206,000 victims.

Minsk at the end of March 2018. Loved it here, despite the language barrier. I need to learn more Russian.
EDIT - the church is Russian Orthodox, not Catholic. Meant to say that, but somehow it came out as Catholic.

Nature of Belarus. Polonka 2019

Minsk is the capital and the largest city of Belarus, located on the Svislach and the now subterranean Niamiha rivers. As the capital, Minsk has a special administrative status in Belarus and is the administrative centre of Minsk Region (voblasć) and Minsk District (rajon). As of January 2021, its population was 2,009,786, (not including suburbs), making Minsk the 11th most populous city in Europe. Minsk is the administrative capital of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and seat of its Executive Secretary.
The earliest historical references to Minsk date to the 11th century (1067), when it was noted as a provincial city within the Principality of Polotsk.[citation needed] The settlement developed on the rivers. In 1242, Minsk became part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. It received town privileges in 1499.
From 1569, it was a capital of the Minsk Voivodeship, in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth. It was part of a region annexed by the Russian Empire in 1793, as a consequence of the Second Partition of Poland. From 1919 to 1991, after the Russian Revolution, Minsk was the capital of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic, in the Soviet Union. In June 2019, Minsk hosted the 2019 European Games.
And like you expect it, the clips are filmed in 4K HDR (60fps) resolution!
