Chilika Lagoon lies in the districts of Puri ,Khurda and Ganjam of Odisha State along the eastern coast of India .
OTDC Rambha Panthanivas offers boating at the Panthanivas itself which are available from 5:30AM to 5PM. The lagoon hosts over 160 species of birds in the peak migratory season.

Rambha Lake is situated 45 km distance from Berhampur on the side of Chilika Lake. It is an old town and was the best resort of the then king of Khalikot. From this place, one can see the scenic beauty of lake Chilika which is very enjoyable. Besides this, the boats are available for cruising in Chilika Lake to enjoy the sight. It is only 125 km from Khandagiri Bhubaneswar on the road towards the south. It is one of the historical places of Odisha. There is a Lake View Point on the banks of the Rambha Chilika for tourists to enjoy this beautiful Lake. Another main attraction of Rambha Lake is the lighthouse, which is in the middle of Chilika Lake, where tourists go there by boat. Winter is a good time for a picnic in Ramba Chilika Lake. This winter many tourists come here from outside Odisha and the state. The OTDC has been built a Panthanivas near the Rambha Lake, offering all kinds of facilities to tourists. Rambha Chilika Lake View Point is a top tourist attractions spot in Ganjam District.

Rambha is a beautiful place situated on the bank of river chilika. Chilika is Indias biggest inland lake. Spread over 1,100 square kilometers stretching across the length of the three districts of Puri, Khurdha and Ganjam and finally joins the Bay of Bengal through narrow mouth, forming an enormous lagoon of brackish water. Dotted with many emerald green islands with colourful names such as Honeymoon Island and Breakfast Island, Chilika is home to a rich variety of aquatic fauna.
It is also a sanctuary and winter resort for migratory birds, some coming from as far as Siberia. Encircled by hills all along its arched shape shores, Chilika lakes colour changes with passing clouds and the shifting sun.

Rambha, Chilika Lake
The state of Odisha has many of my favourite places and Chilika lake is definitely one of them.
Chilka is one of the largest brackish water lagoons in the world, offering shelter to a huge variety of birds and aquatic plants. Rambha is located at the southern coast of the Chilka lagoon, at a distance of 40 km from Berhampur on National Highway 5. The lake also serves as a safe haven of around 150 species of migratory birds during winter. Dotted with numerous islands, Rambha boasts of its enchanting picturesque beauty overlooking the Chilka Lake and the hills. From here, you can go for Dolphin watching and bird watching to different islands like the Breakfast Island, Becon Island and Birds Island.
Places to see in Rambha: You can make trip to the Honeymoon Island, nestled in the Rambha bay, adjacent to the Sankuda Island. The Breakfast Island, which has been formed between Badakuda Island and Somolo Island in the Rambha Bay is truly the most beautiful place to have your packed breakfast. The Somolo Island has the remnants of a dilapidated bungalow, built by the King of Kalikote. Some of the other major islands are Honeymoon Island, Birds Island, Parikud Island, Island of Nalabana, Rajhans Island and New Mouth. Among all these islands, the island of Nalbana deserves a special mention, as it is a sanctuary and a prime refuge point of the migratory birds. You can also savor the view of dolphins at the mouth of Chilka near Satpada.
The Beacon Island is also an impressive sightseeing location. The Khalikote range is also admirable, forming a wonderful backdrop of the Somolo and Dumkudi islands. Many tourists also visit the Bird’s Island, found in the southern sector of Chilka. Tourists with religious bent of mind can make a trip to the Kalijai Temple, devoted to Goddess Kalijai. Trips can also be made to the small island of Barunkuda, near Magarmukh, which houses a shrine of Lord Varuna. The Bhabakundeswar temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva is also worth visiting.

Rambha is one of the gateways to Chilka Lake. You can spend a few days in the lap of nature and enjoy the pristine beauty of Chilka surrounded by hills. You can also get the taste of virgin sea beach at Bateswar and also find architectural beauty of Oddisi temples in this region. Nearest railway station to reach Rambha is Balugaon. Chilka is rich in flora and fauna. It's rich in population of dolphins and a lot of migratory birds also. The must visit islands from Rambha on boat are - Breakfast Island, Ghantasila Island, Bird's Island or Dinosaur Island and Honeymoon Island.On way from Balugaon to Rambha, you can visit Dakhha Prajapati temple, Bhagabati Mata temple, Jagannath temple, Narayani temple and Nirmal Jhor temple. Bateswar sea beach and Bsteswar temple is not very far off from Rambha. Another entry point of Chilka is Barkul, which is 7km from Balugaon. From Barkul you can travel on boat over Chilka to Kalijayi island to visit Kali Temple there.

Rambha is south most point of Chilika lake with all tourist facilities. The main place for tourist is tourist resort Panthanivas of OTDC. There are 4 AC double bed rooms, 8 non AC double bed rooms. In addition to this there are 6 AC cottages. 10 beds dormitory is available.Tourist resort Panthanivas has 10 seater and 5 seater boats. You can hire them on hourly basis but it is almost fixed rate for visiting different spots.
Usually tourist goes for three spot sightseeing or all five islands sightseeing.
