Hike #93: Ralston Peak, San Gabriel Mountains, Cajon Junction, CA (Regular Version)
Visit Date: 3/26/22.
Hiking Ralston Peak: San Gabriel Mountains (San Bernardino National Forest), Cajon Junction, CA.
The lower elevation eastern edge of the San Gabriel Mountains gets blazing hot in the summer months. That's why it is wise to visit at a time of cooler weather. With March coming to an end, it was time to cash in on a little bit of wisdom. My first visit to Ralston Peak was on a foggy day in spring. With barely a cloud in the sky on this day, and weather remaining cool, I found myself climbing Ralston Peak (and finally seeing the view for the first time). I added a new peak, to me, by including Peak 4003 on the hike. Just an example of how to create a great hike seemingly out of thin air by just picking a location and making it happen!

Finding Aron Ralston's Rock (Utah)
After reading the book Between a Rock and a Hard Place and seeing the movie 127 Hours, it felt necessary to track down the location of Aron Ralston's rock. It was amazing to see where this event took place in real life.
