Tunis, the capital of Tunisia | Best Places to Visit in Tunis, Tunisia
Tunis, the vibrant capital and largest city of Tunisia, is a stunning Mediterranean destination. The city is situated on the Gulf of Tunis, bordered by the Lake of Tunis and the port of La Goulette. With its rich history and culture, Tunis is a hub of activity and a must-visit for anyone exploring North Africa.
The Libyans founded them in the 2nd millennium BCE and, over time, occupied by Berbers and Numidians.
Tunis was ruled by several civilizations, including the Phoenicians, Romans, Arab Muslims, Ottomans, Spanish, French, and Germans, before it gained independence as the capital of Tunisia in 1956.
This history has made Tunis a city of wonder with the most significant cultural contrasts.
Tunis is divided into two parts: the World Heritage-listed old city and the new city, or ville nouvelle in French. The town boasts a captivating mix of North African and French architecture and many ancient buildings.
From the winding alleys of the medina, it is filled with tantalizing aromas and colourful bazaars to the sleek and contemporary architecture of the modern city.
Here are the best places to visit in Tunis:
1. Bab el Bhar or the Sea Gate
2. Medina of Tunis
3. Great Mosque of Zaytuna or Zitouna Mosque
4. Madrasa Slimania
5. Streets of the Ville Nouvelle (New Town)
6. Independence Square (Place de l'Independance)
7. Cathedral of St. Vincent de Paul
8. Municipal Theatre (Théâtre Municipal)
9. Tunis Clock Tower
10. Bardo Museum

Visit Tunisia in 5 days
Ancient city in full expansion and big city of history, Tunis is a huge capital of a million inhabitants in Tunisia. On the side of the medina, many old buildings open their doors, some turned into museums or places of culture, others into restaurants or tea rooms. Inscribed by UNESCO on the World Heritage List, the medina is full of wonders. At its doors extend picturesque neighborhoods with beautiful 1900 facades, while on the outskirts, chic restaurants and recreational areas follow one another in the new neighborhoods. On the outskirts, you can go to discover the cities like the goulette, Rades, the lake of Tunis and much more

Djebel Boukornine (Tunisia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Djebel Boukornine in Tunisia.
Seemingly endless dense forests extend across the hills of the Djebel Boukornine National Park. They are the green lungs of the Tunisian metropolis of Tunis that is located a few kilometres away. From the forest covered hills of the nature reserve the view stretches to the outlying areas of the pulsating capital and to the Mediterranean. The region's mostly humid and warm Mediterranean climate promotes the prolific growth of vegetation as well as numerous wild flowers. The dense undergrowth of the forests that covers the hills offers protection to a large number of indigenous animals such as wild boar and mufflon. The area close to the summit of Djebel Boukornine is one of much historical significance. At a height of around five hundred and seventy-six metres are the remains of an old Saturn temple that was dedicated to the Two Horn God who protected the former city of Carthage. The Tunisian Dorsal Pass and the bordering north eastern ridge of the mighty Atlas Mountains can be seen from the hills of the national park.Tunisia contains a diverse variety of scenery in a relatively small area and both socially and culturally it is still strongly influenced by age old customs and traditions.

Bizerte: Traditional Quarters Of Tunisia, Lovely Markets And Great Attractions, Tour Of Bizerta
Bizerte is located in the north of Tunisia, approx. 65km north of Tunis. It is the the largest city north of the capital. Bizerte is not on the tourist track so you may actually have a chance to see some real Tunisia here. The main other reasons to come here are the unspoiled traditional quarter of the old port and the presence of a couple of good beaches in the area.
The main draw in the old medina is the enormous kasbah. With its massive walls it looks out over the northern side of the entrance to the old harbour. Originally a Byzantine fort built in the 6th century AD, the present fort was built by the Ottomans in the 17th century. There is also a smaller fort called ksibah, which actually also means small fort, which houses a small but interesting oceanographic museum.
Around Place Bouchoucha in the heart of the Ottoman town you find lively fish markets, the Great Mosque and the Youssef Dey fountain.
Hope you have enjoyed as much as I have
Have a nice day.

Why is hip-hop bringing change in Tunisia’s Kasserine Mountains?
Bordering Algeria, poverty and unemployment in Tunisia’s Kasserine Mountains has gone some way towards nurturing young recruits for extremism. Hip hop dancing, however, has emerged as a new way to potentially combat militant recruitment.
