Hotel Cupedo Quinhamel, Guinea-Bissau
Hotel Cupedo is located in a remote area along the Atlantic. Here for one night only, this is our small boat departure point to the Bijagos Archipelago. As usual, we arrive late and will leave early and I don't mind admitting that I am very apprehensive about boating for 4 hours into the Atlantic!

Guinea-Bissau (/ˌɡɪni bɪˈsaʊ/ (listen) GHIN-ee biss-OW; Portuguese: Guiné-Bissau; Fula: 𞤘𞤭𞤲𞤫 𞤄𞤭𞤧𞤢𞥄𞤱𞤮, romanized: Gine-Bisaawo; Mandinka: ߖߌߣߍ ߺ ߓߌߛߊߥߏ߫ Gine-Bisawo), officially the Republic of Guinea-Bissau (Portuguese: República da Guiné-Bissau [ʁɛˈpuβlikɐ ðɐ ɣiˈnɛ βiˈsaw]), is a country in West Africa that covers 36,125 square kilometres (13,948 sq mi) with an estimated population of 1,726,000. It borders Senegal to the north and Guinea to the south-east.[8]
Guinea-Bissau was once part of the kingdom of Kaabu,[9] as well as part of the Mali Empire.[9] Parts of this kingdom persisted until the 18th century, while a few others were under some rule by the Portuguese Empire since the 16th century. In the 19th century, it was colonised as Portuguese Guinea.[9] Upon independence, declared in 1973 and recognised in 1974, the name of its capital, Bissau, was added to the country's name to prevent confusion with Guinea (formerly French Guinea). Guinea-Bissau has a history of political instability since independence, and only one elected president (José Mário Vaz) has successfully served a full five-year term.[10] The current president is Umaro Sissoco Embaló, who was elected on 29 December 2019.[11]
Only about 2% of the population speaks Portuguese, the official language, as a first language, and 33% speak it as a second language. However, Guinea-Bissau Creole, a Portuguese-based creole, is the national language and also considered the language of unity. According to a 2012 study, 54% of the population speak Creole as a first language and about 40% speak it as a second language.[12] The remainder speak a variety of native African languages. There are diverse religions in Guinea-Bissau. Islam and Christianity are the main religions practised in the country.[13][14] The country's per-capita gross domestic product is one of the lowest in the world.
Guinea-Bissau is a member of the United Nations, African Union, Economic Community of West African States, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Community of Portuguese Language Countries, Organisation internationale de la Francophonie, and the South Atlantic Peace and Cooperation Zone, and was a member of the now-defunct Latin Union. #bissau #guineabissau #westafrica

Dangerous Crossing To An Isolated Island 🇬🇼 #GuineaBissau Africa Ep 9
We crossed the river at Quinhamel , Guinea Bissau on footGuinea-Bissau is a tropical country on West Africa’s Atlantic coast that’s known for national parks and wildlife. The forested, sparsely populated Bijagós archipelago is a protected biosphere reserve. Its main island, Bubaque, forms part of the Orango Islands National Park, a habitat for saltwater hippos. On the mainland, the capital, Bissau, is a port with Portuguese colonial buildings in its old city center.

Fishing and More at Kéré Island |Guinea Bissau|West Africa #guineabissau #africa #ilhadekere #ilha
Kere Island , Bijagos Archipelago is part of the 88 islands marked as proposed UNESCO world heritage site located in Guinea Bissau , West Africa .Its a 1 hour ride from Main city Bissau to Quinhamel and from there 2.5 hrs to 3 hrs by speed boat. Island is 54 kms away from main land and is a very tiny private island located between 2 islands Carache and Caravela . There is no local crowd or inhabitant's except the people visiting the resort and its staff.
Kere island is a private island owned by french-portuguese couple .The island is spread across 1.5 to 2 kms radius with a small virgin beach. The climate is extremely pleasant and may be very windy at night. The cool green waters are are ideal spot for spot fishing big fishes like African red snapper, jacks, cobias, barracudas, leerfish, West African spanish mackerel, etc.
Ilha de Kere restaurant has very beautiful cottages lined close to the sea. During Hightide you can enjoy the water passing underneath your balcony. They have kept the island very clean and eco friendly .The food is mouth watering and they serve variety of dishes mostly sea food caught freshly from the sea .The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. You can just relax , play some sports and rejuvenate yourself. The staff is very polite and caring and at your service always.
We took speed boat from Mar Azul , Quinhamel which is approximately 1 hour drive from Bissau city. From Mar Azul its a 2.30 to 3hrs speed boat ride , depending on the tide. Overall its a very cozy and beautiful place with no crowd where you have your my time , VFM . We enjoyed a lota and had great fun throughout the 2 nights and 3 days stay.
Would strongly recommend worth a place to visit when you are in Guinea Bissau

African Style, 25 People In My 10 Passenger Van Ep.150
After a wedding in the village of Tintiba in Gambia 🇬🇲 I had to give rides to the people that attended because the village is about five kilometres from the main road. That weekend I was busy all day and night as people were coming and going.
The other clip is children coming from school in Penjem Gambia 🇬🇲, the temperature was about 40ºC so none of the children wanted to walk home in the heat. They packed themselves, about 25 in my van and another 3 on the back of the van.
