Quartu Sant'Elena, located four miles East from Cagliari on the ancient Roman road, is a city and comune in the Metropolitan City of Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy.
There are five churches situated in the city. The most important are the churches of Sant'Elena Imperatrice (dating before 1589, but now in neoclassical style and recently proclaimed Basilica), Santa Maria Cepola (before 1089) and Sant'Agata.

Quartu Sant Elena is where we stayed, with one of my aunts. Pula is up north of Sardegna, where we went to have a pizza ( typical Italians, ey?) with my godfather, it was fun. Here's most of the drive.

La stupenda spiaggia di Mari Pintau è la perla del territorio di Quartu Sant’Elena: si trova lungo le curve della panoramica per Villasimius, a circa venti chilometri dal centro di Cagliari, nella località turistica di Geremeas.
Il fondo è di sassi e ciottoli granitici tondi e levigati che si immergono in acque cristalline diradandosi e lasciando spazio a finissima sabbia bianca. Le sue trasparenze lasciano vedere chiaramente il fondale sabbioso punteggiato da rocce su cui si riflette la luce solare. Dietro la spiaggia rilievi collinari sono ricoperti da profumati arbusti di macchia mediterranea, dove si sviluppa un sentiero per raggiungere il mare dal parcheggio. Mari Pintau è meta ideale per chi pratica pesca subacquea o desidera immergersi in fondali meravigliosi. Ci troverai servizi, stabilimento balneare con noleggio attrezzatura e chiosco-bar.
Lungo la panoramica per Villasimius ammirerai altri gioielli: arrivando da Cagliari, prima incontrerai le splendide rocce di Cala Regina e i ciottoli di Is Canaleddus, spiaggia alle cui spalle c’è un boschetto di eucalipti e ginepri. Oltre il ‘mare dipinto’, troverai l’ampia baia di Geremeas, caratterizzata da spiagge di sabbia bianca a grana grossa: un promontorio separa Mari Pintau dai piccolissimi granelli dorati di Kala ‘e Moru, poi ci le belle e rilassanti spiagge di Marongiu e di Baccu Mandara. Nell’immediato entroterra potrai visitare interessanti siti archeologici e il parco montano dei Sette Fratelli.

Torre di Foxi a Quartu Sant'Elena ~ 30 Settembre 2018 | Viaggiare in Sardegna
La Torre di Foxi fù eretta nel 1578 nell'omonima spiaggia di Quartu durante la dominazione spagnola della Sardegna.
La sua funzione era quella di vedetta e di difesa in caso di attacco dal mare da parte dei saraceni e faceva parte di un ampio sistema difensivo.
Dalla torre di Foxi, quando la visibilità era ottima, era possibile comunicare con le altre torri costiere del golfo di Cagliari come la torre del Poetto, alla torre di Mezza Spiaggia e la torre di Carcangiolas, oramai un rudere.
L'edificio, costruito interamente in pietra calcarea locale, presenta un struttura troncoconica classica per le torri aragonesi.
La struttura è costituita da un unico grande ambiente voltato, realizzato al primo piano sopra una cisterna per la provvista dell'acqua.
L'accesso avveniva come di norma attraverso un'unica apertura, ricavata nello spessore murario nel lato non esposto al mare.
La porta era situata a oltre 5 metri di altezza, non aveva particolari finiture e vi si accedeva mediante una scala di legno che veniva ritratta in caso di attacco.
L'edificio storico è stato restaurato nel recente passato, ed insieme alla torre sono stati migliorati gli spazi esterni.
E stato edificato un alto muro per proteggere la torre dalle recenti e ripetute mareggiate, con integrate un paio di scalinate per favorirne l'accesso.
Attualmente la zona si presenta in stato di abbandono e andrebbe nuovamente valorizzata.
