Capturing Liktinon Falls in President Roxas, Capiz | KAPROBINSYA VLOG

Nakakasabik maligo. Sa unahan pa ay may ilan pang falls na pwede ring puntahan na mas maganda at mas mataas kaysa Liktinon.

Roxas City Heritage Walk

The Heritage Walk: Roxas City’s 9 Cultural Gems

Roxas City is not just your ideal seafood destination. Many people are unaware that it harbors an intriguing history that you can uncover on a quick cultural tour in the heart of the city. Once upon a time, grand houses of the affluent lined the banks of Panay River. However, advancing Japanese forces during World War II forced the locals to burn their homes rather than let the enemies pillage and destroy them. Even earlier, the river was a bustling center for trade and commerce. A visit to the heart of Roxas City is truly a trip down memory lane.

1) Ang Panublion Museum – The Water Tank Museum
In 1916, construction of a water tank near the town’s presidencia commenced to provide water to the Capiznons during the dry months. The tank was designed to ensure a steady water supply in the town, particularly during the dry season. This cylindrical structure stood as a testament to early 20th-century ingenuity. As the decades passed, the water tank outlived its original purpose and was eventually repurposed into a museum. Today, Ang Panublion Museum houses valuable historical and archaeological artifacts, offering visitors a glimpse into the region’s rich past. In 2017, a new building was inaugurated beside the old water tank to accommodate more exhibits and welcome more guests. This expansion has allowed the museum to present a broader array of cultural and historical exhibits, attracting both locals and tourists.

2) President Manuel Roxas Statue and Marker
Erected in honor of the most illustrious son of the Province of Capiz, the statue of President Manuel A. Roxas stands as a significant landmark. Manuel Roxas, the fifth President of the Philippines and the last President of the Commonwealth, played a crucial role in the country's history. His contributions to the nation are celebrated through this statue, which was awarded a historical marker by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines in 2012. In 2016, a bronze statue was unveiled to replace the old one, commemorating the late president’s 68th death anniversary. This new statue is a replica of a Guillermo Tolentino statue, which was turned over by the family to the National Museum in Manila. The statue not only honors President Roxas but also serves as a reminder of the significant impact he had on the country's history.

3) President Manuel Roxas Birthplace
Considered the oldest surviving bahay na bato in Capiz, the house was built by Don Eleuterio Acuña, President Roxas’ grandfather. His mother, Rosario Acuña, was two months pregnant when she moved with her father shortly after her husband, Gerardo Roxas, was murdered by the guardia civiles in Panay. Eight months later, she gave birth to a baby she named Manuel. The house was inherited by Don Eleuterio’s youngest daughter, Jovita, and ownership was passed on to this branch of the family that maintains the house to this day. The well-preserved house showcases period furniture and family memorabilia, providing a fascinating look at the life and times of one of the Philippines' most important historical figures. The structure itself is a fine example of Spanish-Filipino architecture, with its stone lower floor and wooden upper floor, designed to withstand the tropical climate and occasional earthquakes.

4) Roxas City Bandstand
This quintessential American-era infrastructure epitomizes the wealth of old society and the flamboyance of prewar architecture. Built in 1926 under the auspices of the city’s premier social club, Circulo Galante, the bandstand was designed in an ornate style reminiscent of the structures built during that era. The bandstand has served as the center of town life, hosting numerous community activities. Here, many fiesta queens were crowned, and it continues to be a venue for various events today. Designed as an earthquake-proof octagonal pavilion, it was initially movable, with a rounded or arched base for flexibility. Over time, a series of renovations fixed the pavilion at its present site, ensuring its stability and continued use. The bandstand remains a symbol of the city's rich cultural heritage and a testament to its vibrant community life.

The Philippines (/ˈfɪlɪpiːnz/ (listen); Filipino: Pilipinas),[14] officially the Republic of the Philippines (Filipino: Republika ng Pilipinas),[e] is an archipelagic country in Southeast Asia. In the western Pacific Ocean, it consists of 7,641 islands which are broadly categorized in three main geographical divisions from north to south: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The Philippines is bounded by the South China Sea to the west, the Philippine Sea to the east, and the Celebes Sea to the southwest. It shares maritime borders with Taiwan to the north, Japan to the northeast, Palau to the east and southeast, Indonesia to the south, Malaysia to the southwest, Vietnam to the west, and China to the northwest. It is the world's thirteenth-most-populous country, with diverse ethnicities and cultures. Manila is the country's capital, and its largest city is Quezon City; both are within Metro Manila.

Negritos, the archipelago's earliest inhabitants, were followed by waves of Austronesian peoples. The adoption of animism, Hinduism and Islam established island-kingdoms known as kedatuan, rajahnates, and sultanates. The arrival of Ferdinand Magellan, a Portuguese explorer leading a fleet for Spain, marked the beginning of Spanish colonization. In 1543, Spanish explorer Ruy López de Villalobos named the archipelago Las Islas Filipinas in honor of Philip II of Spain. Spanish settlement in Mexico, beginning in 1565, led to the Philippines becoming ruled by the Spanish Empire for more than 300 years.

Roxas City, officially the City of Roxas (Capiznon/Hiligaynon: Dakbanwa sang Roxas; Filipino: Lungsod ng Roxas), is a 3rd class component city and capital of the province of Capiz, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 179,292 people.

It is originally known as the Municipality of Capiz (from which the province derives its name), the area became a chartered city on May 12, 1951, and was renamed in honor of native Manuel Acuña Roxas, the fourth president of the Philippines and the first of the independent post-American Third Philippine Republic.

Roxas City is the center of education, trade, economic activities and logistics in Northern Panay.[5] The abundance of marine life makes Roxas City the Seafood Capital of the Philippines. It has received Cleanest and Greenest Component City in Western Visayas Award in the Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran (GPK) Cleanliness and Environmental contest. The Department of Health (DOH) awarded the city with the Red Orchid Award for being 100 percent tobacco-free.[6] It has also gained the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Seal of Good Housekeeping[7] and won the Best Police Station in the region by the Philippine National Police.

Seafood is any form of sea life regarded as food by humans, prominently including fish and shellfish. Shellfish include various species of molluscs (e.g. bivalve molluscs such as clams, oysters and mussels, and cephalopods such as octopus and squid), crustaceans (e.g. shrimp, crabs, and lobster), and echinoderms (e.g. sea cucumbers and sea urchins). Historically, marine mammals such as cetaceans (whales and dolphins) as well as seals have been eaten as food, though that happens to a lesser extent in modern times. Edible sea plants such as some seaweeds and microalgae are widely eaten as sea vegetables around the world, especially in Asia.

Seafood is an important source of (animal) protein in many diets around the world, especially in coastal areas. Semi-vegetarians who consume seafood as the only source of meat are said to adhere to pescetarianism.

The harvesting of wild seafood is usually known as fishing or hunting, while the cultivation and farming of seafood is known as aquaculture and fish farming (in the case of fish). Most of the seafood harvest is consumed by humans, but a significant proportion is used as fish food to farm other fish or rear farm animals. Some seafoods (i.e. kelp) are used as food for other plants (a fertilizer). In these ways, seafoods are used to produce further food for human consumption. Also, products such as fish oil, spirulina tablets, fish collagen, chitin are made from seafoods. Some seafood is fed to aquarium fish, or used to feed domestic pets such as cats. A small proportion is used in medicine, or is used industrially for nonfood purposes (e.g. leather).

Where to Stay in Roxas?

Where do you stay in Roxas? Good question :)
It's a little town with not many accommodation options. Mainly small guest houses and Air B&B found in the town. There is not a huge presence of tourists and we used the town as a one night stop over on our road trip. We manage to squeeze in Modessa Island which was a great day activity recommended to us by the locals. This video shows you an aerial view of the town and the accommodation offering of the Ocean Manor Inn.

UMRC-President Roxas Chapter| | Short Ride

Roxas Boulevard to Luneta Park in 10 Minutes

Roxas Boulevard to Luneta Park in 10 MinutesRoxas Boulevard is a popular waterfront promenade in Metro Manila in the Philippines. The boulevard, which runs along the shores of Manila Bay, is well known for its sunsets and stretch of coconut trees. The divided roadway has become a trademark of Philippine tourism, famed for its yacht club, hotels, restaurants, commercial buildings and parks.

The boulevard was completed in the 1910s. Originally called Cavite Boulevard,[5][6] it was renamed Dewey Boulevard in honor of the American admiral George Dewey, whose forces defeated the Spanish navy in the Battle of Manila Bay in 1898, Heiwa Boulevard in late 1941 during the Japanese occupation,[7] and finally Roxas Boulevard in the 1960s in honor of President Manuel Roxas, the fifth president of the Philippines. It was also designated as a new alignment of the Manila South Road that connects Manila to the southern provinces of Luzon.[8]

The boulevard is also an eight-lane major arterial road in Metro Manila designated as Radial Road 1 (R-1) of Manila's arterial road network, National Route 61 (N61), the shortest primary route in the Philippines, National Route 120 (N120) of the Philippine highway network and a spur of Asian Highway 26 (AH26). The arcing road runs in a north–south direction from Luneta in Manila and ends in Parañaque at the intersection of MIA Road and Seaside Drive, beneath the elevated NAIA Expressway.[9] Beyond its southern terminus, starts the Manila–Cavite Expressway (E3), also known as the Coastal Road, or more recently, CAVITEX.
