Monastir, also called Mestir, is a beautiful city in the Sahel region on Tunisia's central-eastern coast. It is about 160 kilometres from the capital, Tunis, and 20 kilometres from the more popular coastal city of Sousse.
Monastir has about 93,000 inhabitants and is the birthplace of former Tunisian President Habib Bourguiba, which largely contributed to the city's touristic boom. Port El Kantaoui is a beautiful resort in central Tunisia, 10 km from Sousse and 25 km from Monastir Airport. Constructed in 1979 as a tourist centre, the property features a large artificial harbour with 340 berths for luxury yachts. With 340 berths and a stylish vibe, this Tunisian resort is perfect for holidaymakers seeking ultimate relaxation. The architecture is modelled after traditional Tunisian buildings, featuring narrow streets and arches adorned with stunning flowers.
Port El Kantaoui is surrounded by dozens of luxury hotels, restaurants, cafes, and shops. Foreign tourists frequent the site for its seven-kilometre-long beach, which is one of the best in Tunisia and covered with soft white sand.
The area around the harbour is stylized as a fishing village. Fringed by nice houses with white walls decorated with wooden balconies and colourful flowers, the marina is home to hundreds of craft, from traditional fishing boats to ultra-luxe yachts. It’s a fab spot to watch the world go by, with chilled-out cafés and bars aplenty, and the sweeping headlands offer gorgeous views of the romantic sunsets.
In the evening, Port El Kantaoui shows its other side: the illuminated harbour, the large and small ships swaying in the water, the restaurants that have something to offer for every taste, and the nightlife in the bars and discos that exude an exotic atmosphere.

Port El Kantaoui, DMG Marsa l-Qanṭāwī ; many only El-Kantaoui or Kantaoui called), also under the name of Sousse-Nord , is an on the drawing board planned small Tunisian port city . It is located about 10 kilometers north of Sousse . A large number of restaurants, souvenir shops, portraitists , candy and almond sellers dominate the cityscape.
Due to the fact that Tunisia firmly established in the offers of tour operators conquered, those responsible decided mid-70s of the 20th century to build Port El Kantaoui on a picturesque coastline. There should be a holiday center that a golf course is a marina and even high standards. At the end of the 1970s this decision was put into practice. Funding was the El-Kantaoui project with funds from Kuwait , Abu Dhabi and the World Bank .

El Mouradi Palace is located in the heart of the resort of Port El Kantaoui, alongside a superb beach and facing a 36-hole golf course while the town of Sousse is 10 km away. Monastir’s Habib Bourguiba airport is 35 km away, the resort of Yasmine Hammamet 70 km away, Tunis-Carthage international airport 140 km away and Enfidha airport 40 km away.
