The Smallest Towns In Illinois
Have you ever wanted to run away from it all? Many people have that thought, but few act on it. Besides, it's really hard to avoid other people. There are billions of us walking around, so most of us just have to deal with it. But...if someone does want to be a hermit, where do they go? In this video, we discuss the ten places in the state of Illinois with the smallest population, according to the most recent census data.

10 Most Rural Counties in Illinois
People usually think of Chicago when they picture Illinois, but the state is actually much more rural than outsiders would realize, if they haven't traveled through the area. Some counties in Illinois have more cows than humans, and the population density for a square mile is less than that of a standard city block in other areas. In this video, we're looking at the 10 counties in Illinois with the smallest population density.

Franklin Co. IL. Couple Killed IN Accident EVP Captured at accident location
Was this a mechanical failure? Did the vehicle they were in hesitate to accelerate?
On June 25, 2013 Two Franklin County residents were
killed after a crash Tuesday evening on Route 154 near
Rend Lake.
Authorities say David Couture, 23, and Christina Bradley,
19, were both killed in the accident.
State police say a van driven by Couture pulled in front of a
semi at the intersection on Route 154 and Larry Foster Parkway.
I was very shocked at the news of this accident. I had to go to the location to investigate for answers. With the evp's captured a possible answer has come to light.

Tour of Small Town Petersburg, Illinois in 360° Video
Filmed on Monday, October 10th, 2022, I drive around the small town of Petersburg, Illinois. I drive through the town square and a few of the neighborhood streets.
Petersburg is a city in and the county seat of Menard County, Illinois, United States, on the bluffs and part of the floodplain overlooking the Sangamon River. It is part of the Springfield, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 2,260 at the 2010 census, and 2,226 at a 2018 estimate. Petersburg is located approximately two miles north of New Salem, the original settlement where Abraham Lincoln first settled, as he started his career.
The town began as a planned community organized by real estate speculators Peter Lukins (for whom the town is named) and George Warburton. Abraham Lincoln worked as the surveyor who first mapped, measured and help to divide lots on the land. Petersburg quickly grew, due to an advantageous placement on the river, becoming the county seat in the 1830s and eventually drawing off the population of New Salem, which was abandoned in 1840.
Many of the lush Victorian-era homes built by early wealthy inhabitants still stand on the bluffs of Petersburg. The town itself takes great pride in these structures, which has even preserved some of the original cobblestone streets to complement the classical architecture.
Local legend has it that town's name came about when Peter Lukins and George Warburton, two notorious sots, argued over what to call it. The matter was allegedly settled over a game of cards, which Lukins is credited as winning. Most versions of the tale claim that Warburton had it in mind to name the village Georgetown. This story, though often told in the area, has not been historically verified. #driving #travel #drivingtour

Pinckneyville Tractor Show 2022 🤠 Illinois Tractor Show #tractorshow #tractorvideo
Pinckneyville tractor show the 63 annual, Gas & Threshing show 2022. American Thresherman Association in Pinckneyville Illinois. This is an amazing Illinois tractor show with lots of Tractors some steam powered and some gas powered. They also had some Antique cars like a couple Ford model T's and a Ford Model AA truck. They also had lots of small gas engines many of which were Hit & Miss Engines and most were running. During the video you will see many tractors driving around and even see some steam tractors driving around. They also had some farming demonstrations. It was a fun tractor show. This year's tractor fair cost $10 to get in and they have free parking.

Pyramid State Park (10 Mile Loop)
This is scenic walk through of Pyramid State Park in Pinckneyville Illinois. It’s one of the few parks that allow hike-in camping which is great for backpacking adventures. The park is almost entirely made up of land that was strip mined for coal. This was my first time through this park and my first hike after winter hibernation. The undulating terrain (small peaks and valleys) was brutal in the latter part of the hike, but it was mostly due to me being out of shape. The scenery is a bit bland (season) but I can tell it will be exploding with green in the next few weeks. I wanted to document this hike since there is not many videos of the trails online. At the end of this video I posted the site map. There are a few more trails I want to hit in this park so stay tuned.

Kunz Opera House and Antique Mall, Pinckneyville, IL
Video of The Opera House and Antique Mall in Pinckneyville taken from the 2002 -- 2006 era. During this time the Opera House remained vacant, with few visitors passing through, but it was in the summer of 2004 that the structure received a facelift with a new coat of paint. Here we see the final revitalization that this landmark enjoyed, the way I will remember it, in the better days of its final years.

From Wikipedia:
Randolph Street is a street in Chicago. It runs east–west through the Chicago Loop, carrying westbound traffic west from Michigan Avenue across the Chicago River on the Randolph Street Bridge, interchanging with the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/I-94), and continuing west. It serves as the northern boundary of Grant Park and the Chicago Landmark Historic Michigan Boulevard District. Several large theaters, as well as city and state government buildings are on and adjacent to Randolph. Metra's Millennium Station is located under Randolph Street.
Randolph Street was named for Randolph County, Illinois, in turn named after Edmund Randolph (1753–1813), Governor of Virginia, Secretary of State, and the first United States Attorney General.
The street was part of the original plat of Chicago in the 1830s, originally ending at Michigan Avenue. In the 1850s and 1860s, gambling was a favorite pastime at the saloons on Randolph, and there were so many gunfights in the vicinity that downtown Randolph Street became known as Hairtrigger Block.
In 1937, in conjunction with the building of Lake Shore Drive, a double-decker viaduct was built over the Illinois Central Railroad's rail yard, connecting Michigan to Lake Shore (which was where Field Boulevard is now). This viaduct still exists west of Columbus Drive as the upper level; it intersected LSD (Field) at the current upper level. The lower level of the viaduct was never used.
In 1963 the upper level was built east of Field to serve the new Outer Drive East building. Between 1970 and 1980, the viaduct was demolished east of Columbus; this probably happened after the extension of Wacker Drive to Lake Shore opened in December 1975. By 1988 the new Randolph had been completed, including a new upper level west of Columbus. East of Columbus, this level was built to slope down to the old upper level, which was orphaned by the move of Lake Shore Drive in 1986. The old viaduct was kept west of Columbus, and it slopes down to a middle level east towards the new Lake Shore Drive.

Six Bridge Eagle Trail
Six Bridge Eagle Trail is a 1.7-mile loop trail located at Randolph County Conservation Area near Chester, Illinois. This trail has some pretty lake views and scenic hiking through the hilly woods.
It would be an excellent hike for families. It would be better if there were no road walking, though.
