Cagayan: Tuguegarao to Saint Raymond of Peñafort Parish Church (Malaueg)
This segment starts from Tuguegarao to Saint Raymond of Peñafort Parish Church (Malaueg Church). Google map's street view ends about 5 kilometers from the boundary of Tuao & Rizal so beyond that was unchartered territory. No amount of research can come up with the present condition of the roads & espacially the 2 bridges for which were found in good standing. Schedule the trip in the morning to have a lot of time & also to have a chance to drop by Our Lady of Piat Basilica.

This is a spiritual trip to the pilgrimage center of Cagayan Valley - Basilica of Our Lady of Piat which is one of the now 15 Minor Basilicas in the Philippines with the recent inclusion of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and La Virgen Milagrosa de Badoc Shrines in Quezon City and Badoc, Ilocos Norte. Together with Malaueg Church, the trip west of Tuguegarao is worth it.
Road to Piat is very good. Expect traffic build up upon entering Tuguegarao.

PIAT, Cagayan – The 16-meter-high “Cross in the Sky,” perched atop the 50-meter-high Black Hill at the People’s Integrated Agri-tourism Center, to serve as a symbol of faith, hope, and love for residents of Piat who are battling the COVID-19 pandemic.
Catch the first glimpse of Black Water Lagoon on a beautiful clear day, just a short distance away, a little bit climb on the stairs to reach the top of the Iconic Piat hill (Itawis landmark) to see the panoramic views of the mountains from east to west, you’ll also witness your favorite time of day; the sunrise and sunset and grand view of the whole town. The Black Water Lagoon of Piat Cagayan is a family-friendly park and a part of People’s Integrated Agri Tourism Center, it’s just 10-min walk from Basilica Minore Nuestra Senora De Piat.
