If you’ve been to Seattle, you’ve probably made the stop at the iconic Pike Place Market.
Having lived here my entire life I still love to go and check out my favorite spots. In this video I focus on my favorite hidden gems inside the market- places that you might not have heard of. But SHOULD.
All the stops I have listed out below along with some information about each.
First stop: The Confectional
I just discovered this gem that is all things chocolate. They have an incredible bakery filled with mini cheesecakes with flavors like raspberry white chocolate, mochaccino, and much more.
BUT what I consider the hidden gem aspect of this place is the drinking/sipping chocolate. No, it's not just hot chocolate. It’s a rich Colombian chocolate that is a true standout on any foodie tour of the market.
If you are in the area, ask for a sample. And you are welcome in advance! It will absolutely settle a sweet tooth/chocolate craving for you.
If you are wondering what’s in it: dark chocolate, whole milk, Columbian coffee, and... secret spices 😉

Second Stop: The Truffle Queen
This is a must stop for wine lovers and foodies. They are well known, having been in this space for more than 17 years.
My favorite things here are the wine tastings and truffle salt- grab the famous ‘truffle ka-boom’. Another fan favorite is also the amazing truffle almond brittle.
I honestly didn’t ever think I had a need for truffle salt, but ever since trying it, I can’t help but throw it on literally everything. Think of something as simple as popcorn. Seriously. 10/10 recommend.
This family shop is located on the main street and open every day 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Third Stop: Oriental Mart
Oriental Mart has been a mainstay of the Market since the 1970s. This three-generation, family-owned business offers a wide selection of traditional Asian spices, sauces and grocery products.
What I think what be a hidden fact/find is there is an 18-seat lunch counter serving up award-winning Filipino cuisine. (James Beard Award-Winning to be exact)
I loved the ‘sample plate’ Chef Leila Rosas made. So if you are feeling like you can’t decide what to order highly recommend leaving it up to the chef.
Visit their shop for a selection of authentic Filipino dishes and other novelties. Find this shop on Pike Place next to Frank’s Quality Produce.
Fourth Stop: Secret Garden
I am embarrassed to say I just found out about this community run garden. All produce grown here is donated to the Pike Market Food Bank. Nearly 500 fresh herbs and vegetables are donated each year.
Next time you’re in the Market, find your way to the garden by walking past the fish throwers and hanging a left before you reach Maximilien Restaurant.
The garden is open to the general public daily – head there to see what they’re growing!
Fifth Stop: Pike Place Clam Chowder
This stop is more a tip/HACK, rather than a hidden gem. The chowder, you have probably heard of. And yes, it's worth it.
But because a lot of people know of this spot, the long lines can sometimes deter people from stopping.
Pro tip? Order ahead online and bypass the entire line to just grab and go. You can find plenty of gorgeous views to sit and enjoy the iconic bites.

The New England Clam Chowder- This is one has been voted the nation’s best. Grab it with a bread bowl!
Seafood Bisque- featuring Pacific cod, Northwest salmon, and shrimp in a creamy tomato broth

Sixth Stop: Selfie Museum
The most Instagramable spot in Seattle. Pass by the gum wall and you’ll see it on the left-hand side.
It’s a fun place to take pictures- see cool installations with your friends or even go on a first date. I recommend grabbing tickets online which run you about $25

Went to the Pike Place Farmer’s Market over in downtown Seattle with some friends where the best and premium freshly caught Seafood from the Pacific Ocean. Would only make sense to cook what you buy at the farmer’s market right?
Recipes:
Pan-seared A1 Wagyu Steak and Stir-fry Asparagus with Roasted Garlic 🧄 🥩
Serving Size: 1
- 2 whole garlic bulbs
- 1 Brunch of Asparagus
- 1 Waygu Steak (Any Grade)
- Pinch of Salt
- Pinch of ground pepper
- 4 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 4 Tbsp Grapeseed Oil
Wash all vegetables and meat before preparing.
Directions:
1. 🔪 Chop the bottom of the Asparagus stalks (Press firmly to determine which part is too tough to chew)
2. 🔪 Slice the garlic bulbs in half
3. 🧂Lightly season the steak with salt and pepper
4. 🔥 Heat stove to 400F-450F
5. 🍳 Add oil mixture onto pan
6. Throw the asparagus onto the pan (⚠️Caution: be careful of potential flame combustion)
7. 🧄 Gently place garlic haves onto the pan
8. Pinch of salt while stir frying asparagus and cook until vibrant green appears
9. Gently place steak onto pan over the garlic-Infused oil. Cook garlic until golden-brown.
10. Cook steak until golden-brown with a nice crust formed at the outer layer
—- 3-5 minutes each side for (Internal temp: 135F) medium rare
—- 5-7 minutes each side for (Internal temp: 140F) medium
—- 8-10 minutes each side for (Internal temp: 150F) well-done
Grilled Lemon Pepper North Pacific Swordfish Steak 🍋 ⚔️ 🐟
Serving Size: 2
- 2 Meyer’s Lemons
- 1 Swordfish Steak
- 1 thumb-sized ginger
- 1/4 cup White Wine
- 3 cloves of Garlic
- Pinch of Salt
- Pinch of sweet Paprika
- Pinch of Coriander powder
- Pinch of ground pepper
- 2 tbsp of Grapeseed oil
Directions:
1. 🍋 Extract zest of the Meyer’s Lemons using a fine grater. Slice one into wedges to squeeze juice. (Optional: The other into thin circle slices for garnish)
2. Skin the ginger using a peeler or back of your knife
3. 🌪 Using a food processor or blender, combine garlic, paprika, ground pepper, coriander powder, white wine, ginger, lemon juice, & grape-seed oil
4. 🧂Season the swordfish steak with a generous pinch of salt on both sides
5. Apply blended marinate to the swordfish and refrigerate it for 5-10 minutes
6. Oil the grill to prevent sticking, turn the temperature to medium
7. 🔪Cut some ginger into sticks and place it on top of the steak to add smoked ginger aroma
8. Depending on the thickness, cook the steak 5 minutes on each side with internal temperature of 145F
9. Garnish the sticks on top and anything else that is to your liking such as green onions, salsa, etc.

The Olympic Sculpture Park is the largest park in the downtown neighborhood, and it’s all thanks to the Seattle Art Museum. In 2007, the local museum opened the green space to exhibit some of their more extensive, colossal works in their collection. Each piece – made by artists like Beverly Pepper and Alexander Calder – is set against the backdrop of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains.

But with over 88 acres of beach, wetlands and trails on top of the one-acre off-leash dog park, there’s plenty of space for an enjoyable picnic – not to mention the fact that no matter how many people fill the park, nothing takes away from the breathtaking mountain views.

When it comes to popular Seattle parks, the Washington Park Arboretum is at the top of the list. The park offers 5,500 different plants from around the world, walking trails and one of the largest Japanese Maple Tree collections.
