Cardinia Reservoir Park Victoria 2024| The biggest Water Dam in Melbourne
Take one of the several walks through the park for an opportunity to spot some of the wildlife that call Cardinia Reservoir home. Try the Tea-tree Trail, which goes through bushland from Duffy's Lookout to the Observation carpark – signs along this trail introduce you to a variety of plants and animals.
The Kangaroo Viewing Trail, starting at the Spillway carpark, is home to several mobs of Eastern grey kangaroos, who are often spotted early in the morning or late afternoon. Please remember that feeding and approaching kangaroos is strictly prohibited.
Keep your eyes peeled for many different birds - sightings include Wedge-tailed Eagles, Common Bronzewings, Eastern Rosellas and Little Corellas.
Within the park you will find a wide variety of trees including Tea-tree, Wattles, Sheoak, Stringybark and Narrow-leaf Peppermint. There are also many shrub varieties including Prickly Moses, Broom Spurge, Silver Banksia and Showy Bossiaea.
Aura Vale Lake is a great spot for fishing. There are barbecues at Crystal Brook picnic ground.

Flying over Patterson Lakes and River | Melbourne, Australia | Drone Photography - 19
Patterson River is a fascinating waterway located approximately 28 kilometers southeast of Melbourne Cbd in Victoria, Australia. Let me share some interesting details about it:
1. Origin and Purpose
- Patterson River is a partly man-made river that was created in 1878. Its primary purpose was to provide direct drainage from the Dandenong Valley catchment area.
- Before the construction of Patterson River, the runoff from the Dandenong Valley flowed into the Carrum Swamp, which extended behind the sand dunes between Mordialloc and Frankston. The only outlets to the bay were Mordialloc Creek* and Kananook Creek at Frankston.
2. Recreational Activities
- Patterson River is a popular spot for boating and fishing. It serves as the gateway to Port Phillip Bay for boaters.
- The area offers four two-lane boat ramps and a spacious car and trailer parking area.
- For those who enjoy outdoor activities, there's a flat 6-kilometer gravel circuit trail along the riverbanks, perfect for *walking, jogging, or biking. Additionally, trail networks connect in various directions.
- Dogs are permitted on lead at Patterson River, making it a pet-friendly location.
3. National Water Sports Centre
- The nearby National Water Sports Centre is a well-known feature of Patterson River. It hosts various water sports activities, including boat tests, waterskiing, and wakeboarding.
4. Fishing Opportunities:
- Fishing is permitted along the river for Victorian fishing license holders. Anglers can catch species such as Mullet, Australian Salmon, bream, and even the elusive Mulloway.
5. Suburb of Patterson Lakes:
- The suburb of Patterson Lakes is built around the lower section of the Patterson River. It forms a thriving canal system within the residential area.
So, whether you're a boating enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply seeking a picturesque spot, Patterson River offers a delightful experience! 🚣♀️🐟🌿

Driving from Patterson Lakes to Chelsea
Patterson Lakes is located in outer south-east Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. The canal suburb is located 35 km southeast of Melbourne's central business district. Its local government area is the City of Kingston. In the 2016 census, Patterson Lakes had a population of 7,564. Patterson Lakes consists predominantly of new houses, and is home to the most popular boat launching facilities in Victoria. The Patterson River is a popular portal for Port Phillip. It includes four public launching ramps; joins the Tidal Canal system to Port Phillip; and includes the Patterson Lakes Marina and its facilities in Middle Barbour and Inner Harbour
Chelsea is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 30 km south-east from Melbourne's central business district. Its local government area is the City of Kingston. At the 2016 census, Chelsea had a population of 7,773.
Chelsea is located on Port Phillip and is the most important bayside suburban Centre between Mordialloc and Frankston. Chelsea is very popular with beachgoers during summer. Also popular is Bicentennial Park, located about 1 km inland on the site of a former rubbish tip. It has recently been redeveloped with modern barbecue and play equipment, most notably the Mount Chelsea adventure playground.
The Frankston Railway line first cut through the Chelsea area in 1882 and Chelsea Station was opened in 1907, as was the Chelsea Post Office. These facilities served a modest slowly growing population before most of the Chelsea area was developed post-World War II. Many houses were demolished to make way for single Storey units in the 1960s and 1970s. Chelsea has smaller households, fewer families with children and more elderly people than most other Melbourne suburbs.

THINGS TO DO IN CAPE PATERSON - BEST BEACHES IN VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA
This summer was a devastating summer because of the Australian Bush fires. Many people lost their homes and loved ones. 480,000,000 animals perished in the flames. It was the world largest bush fires we've experienced in history and we need to do something about CLIMATE CHANGE.
Now having gotten that of my chest, I would like to share my family summer holiday at Cape Paterson, one of the many beautiful beaches in Victoria. I feel a little self indulgent holidaying while some families don't even have a roof over their heads. However, I need to share how beautiful Australian coast line is to the world and how grateful I am to have the chance to have a beach holiday.
Many of our beach towns are currently inaccessible and burnt.
Our beautiful country is burning and we need to work together to preserve it and stop climate Change.
