Pathein City Myanmar - Street View
Pathein, formerly called Bassein, is the largest city and the capital of the Ayeyarwady Region, Myanmar. It is located 190 km (120 mi) west of Yangon on the bank of the Pathein River (Bassein), which is a western branch of the Irrawaddy River. Lying at the western edge of the Ayeyarwady River delta, on the Pathein (Ngawan) River 118 miles (190 km) west of Yangon, Pathein is accessible to large vessels and despite its distance from the ocean, it is the most important delta port outside of Yangon. The city is also a terminus of a branch of the main railroad line which connects it to Hinthada, Letpadan and Yangon.

Scenic Drive Pathein, August 2018
Pathein is a lovely city of Ayeyarwady Division in Myanmar.
The city has not changed for decades. Only after 2010, I think, the city woke up and people started to build new buildings, hotels, shops etc. The infrastructures have not changed at all and the city is overcrowded especially with motorcycles. Most of the road users do not follow the rules and regulations and choose to drive their own way. As a result, collisions happened and young generations ended their lives prematurely. Very sad to learn that.

Scenic Myanmar Countryside From Pathein To Yegyi Train Journey Part 1 in 4K
Today, September 16th, 2019, the weather in Pathein is fair and good to travel. My childhood friend and I decided to take a train journey to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Myanmar countryside.
We decided half a day ride from Pathein to Yegyi and return.
We took the early morning express train, leaving Pathein at 5:30 AM. I have not had train travel in Myanmar for a long long time.
Most people said Myanmar’s train system tends to be unpredictable, especially the further away tracks go from Yangon. Expected arrival and departure times almost always vary, often by hours. Our train arrived and departed on time in all stations.
We bought the tickets at the train station on the day of travel. We decided to travel on the upper class the fare is K1200.00 per person including the travel insurance. The national identity document is essential to buy the ticket. The seat comes with a simple wooden bench.
The speed of the train is between 20 and 25 miles per hour and it is very good for me to take video throughout the journey. The train passes by tall palm trees, banana plants, rural villages and green paddy field beyond the horizon.

Yegyi Market, Ayeyarwady Region, Myanmarin 4K
Yegyi is one of the townships towns in Ayeyarwady Region in Myanmar. it is about 86 kilometres northeast of Pathein. I have been to Yegyi a long long time ago. I have not had train travel in Myanmar for a long time.
We have one and a half hour to explore Yegyi during our visit.
Yegyi is a peaceful town in Ayeyarwady Division. There are many shops and we can get most goods from here. Most Myanmar shop early in the morning to get fresh meats and vegetables.
There are many tea shops in most markets in Myanmar. Tea shops have been a long-standing part of Myanmar’s cultural history.
Tea shops are not just where people go to get good cheap food, people go for all matters of life. People meet with friends, tease each other, tell some jokes, gossiping, discussion about what’s going on locally and in the world.

Scenic Drive From Downtown Pathein to Kwin Chan Ward in 4 K
I used to live in Kwin Chan over 30 years ago for 4 years. I revisited my place on 11/12/2019 as one of my friends invited me to teach me how to cook biryani rice.
I went there by three-wheel taxi and I managed to take a scenic view of the place. The place has not changed much except the new high rise building were built.
The concrete road was laid with the co-operation of Pathein Township City Development Commette and local residences.

This is the update of Pathein Floating Night Market December 2016, which I uploaded in October 2017. The market is called floating market, ေရေပၚေစ်း. in Myanmar.
All stalls and sellers are on the purposely built platform and there are no boat vendors like what we see the floating market in Inle Lake. Therefore the market should be called a riverside market rather than a floating market.

In 2011 I made this ferry trip from Yangon to Pathein. It is a 20 hour trip. Pathein is a city 190km west of Yangon and connected via the Yangon and Pathein rivers. This ferry may not be operational at this time, because buses now are faster.

Aung Thiri Market, previously known as Kalagone Zay, ကုလားကုန်းစျေး, is situated at the southern fringe of central Pathein.
So many Indians used to live around the area and hence got the name Kalagone Zay, I believe.
Most of the Myanmar shop every day for fresh meats, vegetables and commonly consumed food commodities and the market is very busy with shoppers between 6:30 am and 8:00 am. You can get everything from the market.
The market is not big enough for all the shops inside, you can see lots of shops on both side of Cartman Street.
You will see lots of shoppers, bicycles, motorbikes, trishaws, cars etc, people respect each other and giving ways in the congested road.
