In the past, the fishermen lived in the small houses on the left bank of the canal which connects the Lez to the sea. Even today, the place still retains this atmosphere typical of maritime villages. Every morning, when the boats return, residents of Palavas, Montpellier and tourists can find the atmosphere of the small villages of yesteryear on the quays and buy fresh fish straight from the traps. On the right bank, the pretty bourgeois houses with decorated pediments, backing onto charming little gardens, such as the Villa Bianca, tell of the good old days when wealthy families came to taste the joys of sea bathing.
The Lighthouse of the Mediterranean:
Far from being outdated, the city has been able to reconcile authenticity and modernity. The Pare de la Méditerranée, an old water tower 45m high completely restored in 2000, is the symbol. The top two floors of the tower host a promenade bridge with bar allowing a 360 ° view as well as a rotating panoramic restaurant allowing lunch or dinner to the rhythm of a magnificent flight over the entire region from the sea to the hinterland and its mountains, passing through the ponds.

Palavas Les Flots is a town that from the ground seems as ordinary as others in the region, but when you see it from above, you can see really how small of a sliver of land it has been built on
The town that sits in between Sète and La Gande Motte is the ideal beach getaway destination for the people of Montpellier. Located only 10 minute drive from south Montpellier, the town is well set up with restaurants and shops to accommodate day trippers.
The village connects also by bike and walking paths to neighboring cities and towns like Carnon,Le Grau du Roi,La Grande Motte, Frontignan, Sète and Montpellier.
A very interesting fishing port that is popular for fisherman lining the banks of the canal in town and selling their fresh daily catch. It’s a shame that they don’t yell like they did back in the day but it is an interesting sea side industry to observe.

Bonjour (hello) Belleoveds! So you want to visit France but want to go above the norm of popular Paris. Well, I know how it is to want a trusted recommendation so I've got you COVERED! I Recommend MONTPELLIER! France is a beautiful place to visit! So much history, fine art, dinning, shopping you name it. It's also a huge place with PLENTY to see and do and it can all be overwhelming if you aren't organized for your trip so below I do my best in sharing my great experience which I hope will inspire and be used by you to enjoy as well!
A LITTLE ABOUT MONTPELLIER
MONTPELLIER is the third-largest French city on the Mediterranean coast after Marseille and Nice, the 7th-largest city of France, and is also the fastest-growing city in the country over the past 25 years. Montpellier is known for its sophistication and flair with beautiful rustic ancient buildings as you will observe the moment you step into the city. If you're traveling with children the city boast an impressive aquarium and zoo and for both adults and children-- fine sandy beaches on the coast. The city has enough to keep you thrilled throughout your stay!
MY EXPERIENCE
TRAIN RIDE:
Upon arriving into Paris (CDG-Charles de Gaulle Airport) We ,( Qui (yes) we, because I couldn't have experience this great place all alone)so we took a 3 hr train ride from the CDG airport to Montpellier. Once at the airport there will be plenty info there to help you buy your ticket (I can't recall the price of the ticket but it wasn't too bad) but that could be included in your own research upon traveling to France. (The Train is caught right at the airport which makes for an easy transition)
The train ride allows for great sight seeing of the country side, beautiful buildings and conversations with locals.
THE HOTEL:
We stayed at Novotel Suites Montpellier or in French it's called (Suites Novotel) It's a beautiful, clean and comfortable 4 star hotel located right in the midst of town and only 16 minutes from Palavas-les-Flots Beach.
WHERE TO VISIT:
Palavas-les-Flots Beach. This place you will love! lots to do and see all right on the beach where we enjoyed a great evening with friends. It's like the South Beach of France LOL
WHERE TO EAT:
Once you've taken that long 3 hr train ride, settled in at your hotel, find your way to Palavas-les-Flots beach, taken some pics, and explored the place, NOW it's time to EAT at Les Pieds Dans l'O restaurant! You won't regret it! if you do I'm sorry in advance but something may be wrong with you HAHA (just kidding) the google search pictures and testimonies will show for itself how amazing the food is there.
