Osmaniye tarihi: Osmaniye ve yöresi ilk çağdan itibaren Hitit, Asur, Pers, Roma, Bizans gibi devletler ile bazı kavimlerin yaşayışlarına sahne olmuştur. Türklerin Osmaniye ilk gelişleri VII.yy'da Harun Reşit döneminde Abbasi orduları ile olmuştur. Büyük Selçuklu Sultanı Alparslan'ın Malazgirt'de Bizanslıları mağlup etmesi üzerine Türklerin Anadolu'ya gelişleri hızlanmış 1082 yılında Ulaşlılar aşireti Torosların güneyine inmişler bugünkü Osmaniye'nin Haraz mahallesi mevkisine yerleşmişlerdir..
Bir süre sonra Çukurova hakim olan Memlüklüler döneminde de bu göçler devam etmiş Kınık, Bayat, Yüreğir boyları Osmaniye ve çevresine yerleşmiştir. XII yy'ın sonlarında Oğuz boylarından kırk bin Halep Türkmeni Osmaniye ve çevresine iskan edilmiştir.1517 yılında Osmanlı padişahı Yavuz sultan Selimin Mısır seferi sonucunda bölge Osmanlı hakimiyetine girmiştir.
Bölgede 1490-1500 yıllarında Payas (Üzeyir) sancağına bağlı Kınık nahiyesi kurulmuştur. Halkının tamamı Türk ve Müslümandır.Kasabanın Kınık nahiyesi adıyla birde ayrı kanunnamesi vardır.1522 yılında Maraş'ta Zülkadiriye Eyaletine daha sonra Halep vilayetine bağlanmıştır. XIX. yy'da Osmanlı bölgede otoritesini yitirmeye başlamış, bu dönemde mısır valisi Kavalalı Mehmet Ali Paşa 1833'den 1840 yılına kadar bölgeye hakim olmuştur. 1840 yılında imzalanan Londra Anlaşması ile bölge tekrar Osmanlı hakimiyetine geçmiştir
Osmanlı devletinin XIX.yy.ın son çeyreğinde bölgedeki otoritesi tamamen bozulmuş Osmaniye ve çevresinde asayişi yeniden sağlamak ve aşiretleri itaat altına almak amacıyla Derviş Paşa komutasında Fırka-islahiye adı altında bir birlik görevlendirmiştir.Derviş paşa önce Hatay ve çevresini iskan etmiş daha sonra da Osmaniye ve çevresine gelerek yöredeki aşiretleri Hacı Osmanlı köyü ve civarına iskan etmiştir.Yeni Vilayetler Nizannamesine göre 1866 yılında bu bölgedeki yerleşim birimi Osmaniye kazası olarak teşkilatlanmıştır. Bu kazaya Ulaşlı,Tecirli, Cerit,Karayigit ve Ağyazı nahiyeleri bağlanmıştır. Osmaniye kazası bu şekilde Payas (Üzeyir) ve Cebeli-i Bereket sancağına oda Halep eyaletine bağlanmıştır.
II. Meşrutiyet ile Osmaniye Cebel-i Bereket Sancağı Yarpuz'dan Osmaniye merkezine taşınmıştır. Bu idari yapı 1924 yılına kadar devam etmiştir. Sancak merkezinin Osmaniye'ye taşındığı sırada Osmaniye nüfusu 7000 civarındadır. Dünya savaşında, önce İngilizlerin sonrada Fransızların işgaline uğramıştır. Ankara antlaşmasından sonra Fransızlar 7 Ocak 1922'de Osmaniye'den çekilmişlerdir. Cumhuriyetin ilanı ile idari yapılanma yeniden şekillenmiş ve Osmaniye kazası vilayet yapılmıştır.1 Haziran 1933 yılına kadar vilayet olan Osmaniye bu tarihte kazaya dönüştürülerek Adana iline bağlanmıştır. Nihayetinde 24.10.1996 gün ve 4200 sayılı kanunla il statüsüne kavuşmuştur.

Adana Province (Turkish: Adana ili) is a province of Turkey located in central Cilicia. With a population of 2,274,106 according to official estimates as at 31 December 2022, it is the sixth most populous province in Turkey. The administrative seat of the province is the city of Adana, home to 78¼ % of the residents of the province. It is also closely associated with other Cilician provinces of Mersin, Osmaniye, and (northern) Hatay.
