[4K] Nevada City - California USA - Walking Tour
Nevada City is the county seat of Nevada County, California, United States, 60 miles (97 km) northeast of Sacramento, 84 miles (135 km) southwest of Reno and 147 miles (237 km) northeast of San Francisco. The population was 3,068 as of the 2010 Census.
European-Americans first settled Nevada City in 1849, during the California Gold Rush. The Gold Tunnel on the north side of Deer Creek was the city's first mine, built in 1850. The first sawmill in Nevada City was built on Deer Creek, just above town, in August 1850, by Lewis & Son, with a water wheel. In 1850–51, Nevada City was the state's most important mining town, and Nevada County the state's leading gold-mining county. In 1851, The Nevada Journal became the first newspaper published in the town and county. The first cemetery in town, the Pioneer Cemetery, was founded around 1851 behind the Nevada City United Methodist Church, Nevada County's first denominational church.
The town of Nevada was incorporated on April 19, 1856. In 1864, the word “City” was added to its name to relieve confusion with the nearby state of Nevada, and the town has legally been known as Nevada City ever since.

Everything Wrong with Don't Come to Hawaii Social Media Posts (as a local)
I recently came across an opinion piece entitled, “Hawaii is not and will never be your vacation ‘paradise’” and I wanted to provide commentary as a local who grew up in Hawaii and is currently living here because some of the statements made in the article are pretty bold. More importantly, that opinion is but one opinion. There are many more.
I hope people outside of Hawaii understand that not all locals have such strong opposition to tourists visiting Hawaii. It seems that one of the most vocal narratives online about Hawaii is that locals don't want tourists to come for a myriad of reasons. So I thought I'd provide another opinion about visitors coming to Hawaii.
We hear the term sustainable tourism and I think defining that term with well-defined benchmarks is key. Because until Hawaii figures out other economic industries that can work in Hawaii in the long-term, locals will continue to live in a state fueled by tourism.

10 Things To Know Before Visiting Costa Rica
💎Luxury Homes Costa Rica SUBSCRIBE to our YouTube Channel.
🇨🇷Hello Everyone, after living in Costa Rica for around 18 years I think I know it very well, Costa Rica is a beautiful country in Central America, full of amazing nature, wildlife and nice people, it offers very easy access to and from north and south America.
🇨🇷I am John Ordonez and I manage Luxury Homes Costa Rica, company I created around 10 years ago. If you are considering retiring in Costa Rica, investing here or you just like the beach and look at nice architecture, I want to invite you personally to subscribe to our channel and follow us on our social media facebook, Instagram, tweeter and linkedin.
🇨🇷We will share new listings, Costa Rican locations, Real Estate tips, interviews and tendencies in the Real Estate world. We up load content every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday so I hope can see you soon!
🇨🇷10 Things you should know Before Visiting Costa Rica!
🇨🇷When planning a vacation, looking for a retiring country, a more relaxed life and beautiful beaches, Costa Rica is definitely an option, but there are some things you should know before you come for vacation or before you make that permanent move.
If you are interested in this amazing country full of amazing unique beach spots, incredible mountains, volcanoes and wildlife, stay tune this video is for you!
1) Costa Rica is full of wildlife and when traveling in Costa Rica you will be able to experience it first hand so be careful with the Monkeys, spiders, coatis, Iguanas and Scorpions, which are very very common here, watch out and check your bed before you go to sleep so you do have an scorpion sleeping with you!
2) Costa Rica’s currency is Colon so make sure you exchange some money at the airport and have enough so you do not pay extra exchange when in the country. The best exchange rate is offered by the local banks, Banco Nacional, Banco de Costa Rica. If you do not have time to get Colones, USD Dollars will be accepted in most places if you pay with 5,10 and 20 dollar bills.
3) If you will be visiting different beach locations try to rent a four-wheel drive car, most of the roads in the country are not the best and many of them are not paved.
4) Even tough Costa Rica is safer than most of the countries in the area, there is crime so be careful with you belongings, specially cameras, computers, digital equipment and obviously your money! Most thieves will try to brake in your car and get your stuff; do not leave expensive stuff in the car!
5) Remember Costa Rica is a tropical country so there are a lot of mosquitoes, bugs and all those things so be prepared before you go to the forest, mountains and beach areas since most of them are remote.
6) Costa Rica does not have an army and that’s great but police control is also short or almost no presence in many beach locations so be careful and take care of yourself.
7) Medical care in Costa Rica is very famous and cheaper than many countries, dental treatments, surgeries, esthetic procedures as well however, if you are planning to go to live by the beach and live in those rural areas, medical service will not be close, if you wish to have quality medical services you will need to live close to the bigger cities.
8) Many tourists come to Costa Rica for it’s beaches and surf spot locations, so here are some of the most famous ones Hermosa , Tamarindo , Santa Teresa and Domical beach among other on the pacific side and on the Caribbean Uvita, Domincal, Matapalo among others.
9) Costa Rica is not a cheap country, some times could be even more expensive than different locations in the US and in the world however, in Costa Rica you will find unique weather, Unique real estate and very very exclusive home communities in many of the locations! Actually some very famous people have acquire vacation homes here, celebrities Mel Gibson and Tom Brady have their vacation home in this country.
10) Costa Rica offers in some areas some of the most stable and best weathers in the world and also some areas are famous for the longevity of it’s people, so all these are advantages that no many countries can offer.

A tour of TALLINN, Estonia - My Favourite City in the World!
Hi everyone! This is episode nine of my Baltics plus Finland series in which I travel to Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland. In this video, I explore the capital of Estonia, namely Tallinn.
I've had the privilege of visiting Tallinn twice before - in 2008 and 2012 - and I have some wonderful memories of the Estonian capital from those previous visits. It is therefore my absolute privilege to explore this city with you on my third visit and I hope that it gives you but a tiny glimpse of the magic of this part of the world, through my camera lens.
The vlog starts with me meeting some locals outside the iconic Viru Gate who spotted the camera and greeting me in truly friendly Estonian style and reminding me of the hospitality of this wonderful country. I briefly talk more about the Viru Gate which presents a magnificent entrance to the Old Town. I then walk down Viru Street towards the Town Centre and give more information about Estonia, including its geography and proximity to Finland as we stroll past the Helsinki Karaoke Bar and Sauna Street. I then notice the prices of some clothes in the Old Town clothes shops - after deciding it is too expensive for me, I instead visit an Eesti Handcraft Shop where we learn more about the Estonian flag, the history of Marzipan and Estonian woodwork with a technological edge. I also try my luck at solving the Estonian Magic Box, the Estonian equivalent of the Rubik's Cube - see how I get along!
I then head out to the area around the Olde Hansa, an iconic restaurant in the Old Town, where I sample some Estonian almonds from an Estonian market trader. I also spot an opportunity to recreate some photos I took on my trips in 2008 and 2012, and give information about the size of Estonia and Tallinn.
Still at the Olde Hansa, I talk about the Town Hall and the legend of Old Thomas, the weather vane situated on top of the Town Hall's spire. Following this, I briefly explore the Christmas markets in the Town Square and mention the controversial debate regarding Christmas trees in the Baltics...
With daylight fastly deteriorating, I decide to explore more of the Old Town and walk towards Toompea, the limestone hill featuring several medieval structures, government buildings and iconic viewing platforms. On the way, I pass the St. Nicholas Church and talk about Tallinn's contribution during the Moscow Summer Olympics of 1980. I also talk about Estonia's success in the sport of wife carrying and their rivalry with the Fins!
I then arrive at Freedom Square featuring the War of Independence Victory column (the full name is The Cross of Liberty and the Monument to the War of Independence) and St. John's Church, and notice several artificial Christmas trees in the square which gives it a real festive edge. I talk more about the history of Estonia, including the Danish period after the Battle of Lyndanise, the German Period during which Reval (the former name of Tallinn) became Protestant, as well the subsequent Swedish and Russian Periods. I also visit the Victory Column and notice the interesting design of glass plates.
I then head up to Toompea and talk about my travel experience to Tallinn in 2012 in the snow, before arriving at Kiek in de Kök, the iconic artillery tower. I walk along the city walls where I pass Maiden Tower and then arrive at the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the Orthodox cathedral built during the Russian period. This cathedral is situated opposite the Estonian parliament, known as the Riigikogu - watch why this is actually quite ironic!
Following this, I walk past embassies and other official buildings, as well as the iconic Cathedral of Saint Mary the Virgin. I then decide to head out to the lookout point where I took one of my all-time favourite travel photos, but I can't remember the exact route. I walk past Stenbock House and get to the outside of the Patkuli Viewing Platform, but this does not feel like the spot. Passing tourists confirm that there are other smaller viewing platforms, which I suspect my plaform fall under, so I set of in search of that one. I finally arrive there and get to experience the magic all over again! I also share more information about the iconic St. Olaf's Church which one can see clearly from the platform.
I decide to check out the Patkuli Viewing Platform to compare the views, after which I return to ground level where I also end the vlog - but not before reminding you to stay tuned for more Tallinn adventures, as there is so much more to see and experience!
If you haven't done it yet, please hit the LIKE button and SUBSCRIBE to the channel. It is FREE to do so and really helps me out a great deal as it helps to expose my videos to a wider audience. I would also love to hear from you, so please leave a COMMENT in the comments section on what you think of Tallinn - my favourite city in the entire world (and I have been to a few places already).
Happy exploring!
