Well hello and welcome to Warszawa. This week we are exploring the Polish capital. We've already been here a few days and it has been amazing. It has been such a pleasant surprise and unlike any part of Europe we've traveled in so far. So yeah, this week we're going to be highlighting 25 things to do around the city and we're excited to show you what it is all about.
We came to Warsaw with little to no expectations and the city completely surprised us. Our week in the capital was spent sampling Polish cuisine, learning about the city's past through museums and historical tours, and also dabbling in a bit of the nightlife. Warsaw is quickly rising through the ranks and we think it won't be long before travellers are flocking en masse. So if you're planning a trip to Poland, don't skip over the capital because there is more to Warsaw than meets the eye.
This is part of our Travel in Poland series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Polish culture, Polish arts, Polish foods, Polish religion, Polish cuisine and Polish people.

Market square Rynek, Nysa 🇵🇱 #nysa #poland #europe
The market square, where we can see a very nicely renovated Town Scales House from 1604 (B; GPS: 50.473210, 17.332751), an interesting town hall from the 14th century with a very high tower (which can be reached by a lift - the price is 5 PLN) and of course the monumental Basilica of St. James and St. Agnes, whose interiors look really amazing on a sunny day, when the sun's rays penetrate the windows inside. An interesting fact is that the church has one of the most sloping roofs in Europe. Next to the church there is a belfry, never completed (it was supposed to have a much higher height). Inside, there is the St. James Treasury, a collection of goldsmiths' masterpieces.

Nysa, I Love You
Nysa used to be called the Silesian Rome or Silesian Athens. It was one of the best-known and the most important Polish towns. Its name appears in Hartmann Schedl's World Chronicles (1493) just after those of Krakow and Wroclaw. For almost 500 years of its history Nysa was the capital of the bishop's principality, due to which it flourished economically and culturally, despite diverse historical adversities such as invasions and fires.
Under the Prussian rule, the town was converted into a stronghold, which hindered its further growth for nearly 200 years. Yet, the worst disaster occurred during WW2, when almost 80 percent of the town was virtually destroyed. Its inhabitants put continuous effort into the meticulous reconstruction and renovation of the remaining fragments of the town's former glory. The unique character of the town is revealed both in historical buildings full of various treasures and in old parks and fortifications, as well. The adjacent Nyskie Lake and the vicinity of the Opawskie Mountains help make it into the most attractive tourist area in the Opolskie Province and one of the best-known such areas in Poland.
