PAMPLONA, Negros Oriental | Tourist Spots you can visit | Rabitton | Cafe Alicia | fb CM Vallega

Pamplona is a municipality in Negros Oriental located about 38 kilometers from the Negros Oriental capital city of Dumaguete. Its one of the only three municipalities in Negros Oriental that doesn’t have a shoreline. The municipality is bordered by the municipality of Sta Catalina to the west, Tanjay to the north, Sibulan to the south and Amlan to the east. The main language spoken in Pamplona is a local dialect of the Filipino language known as Cebuano, however, English is also widely spoken as it is the official language (together with Filipino) of the country.

BRIEF HISTORY OF PAMPLONA
This municipality was created by the Republic Act No 535 in 1950 from the municipality of Tanjay. It officially became a municipality on June 16th, 1950 whereby it was initially a barrio of the Tanjay municipality. It has a population of 34,000 as per its 2010 census count with a population density of about 173 people per kilometers square. This municipality covers an area of about 200 kilometers square with most of this area being hilly.

Getting to Pamplona
Pamplona is one of the municipalities that is not located along the shorelines of Negros Oriental. Up in the chilly breeze of the mountains, Pamplona lies about 38 km away from the busy street of Dumaguete.

One way in getting to Pamplona at the same time enjoy the Filipino lifestyle experience is first getting to Tanjay City. Ceres bus will charge (about Php 50-air-conditioned and Php 40-non-air-conditioned) for the 30- minute ride going to Tanjay. Upon reaching Tanjay, one can simply ride a pot-pot (local bicycle rides) that costs about Php 10.00 only going to Pamplona. The ride takes about another 10-15 minutes uphill, enough time for you to have a relaxing and sight-seeing ride in a pot-pot.

NILUDHAN FALLS // 4K Drone Footage //Bayawan City Negros Oriental Philippines Tourist Attraction

Niludhan Falls: Negros Oriental’s Hidden Gem
#NiludhanFalls #NiludhanFallsNegros #BayawanCityFalls #NegrosOrientalFalls #PhilippineTravel #NegrosOrientalPh #Negros #NegrosOrientalPhilippines

Niludhan Falls, one of Negros Island’s underrated natural attractions, lies hidden amidst its forests and vast sugarcane plantations and agricultural lands in Bayawan City, Negros Oriental. This water wonder is conveniently located right beside the main road along the city’s northern border connecting Brgy. Dawis to adjacent Mabinay town.

Even as a local of Bayawan, I have never heard of this particular waterfalls until I was in college when I managed to see this local natural creation for the first time. A river feeds the 25-meter wide waterfalls that ends on a 40-meter vertical drop, creating the magnificent curtain falls. One can witness and capture its full magnificence, which resembles that of the Tinuy-an Falls in Bislig, during the rainy season or after a relatively strong downpour. During summer, the waterfalls could get sparse but is still equally stunning. Every angle of the falls is picture-perfect amidst the blue skies, its turquoise basin and the lush green vegetation surrounding the falls. On a clear sunny day, tiny rainbows are visible in the falls.

From the entrance, right beside the highway, a short walk down a stairway leads you to the falls. Entry to the falls is so far FREE of charge. There are also tables and benches available for use of visitors. Toilets and a washing area are also in place. As there are no stores nearby, it is advisable to bring your own water and food during your visit.

GETTING THERE

From Bayawan City, Niludhan Falls is 43 kilometers away and is accessible by public utility vehicles such as Ceres bus, jeepneys and motorcycles locally known as habal-habal. An alternative route is via Mabinay, which is more or less 10 kilometers away from the nearest transit point and could be reached via motorcycle or bus.

From Dumaguete City via Bayawan City:Ceres Liner buses ply the Dumaguete-Bayawan route at 30-minute intervals from the Dumaguete Ceres Terminal. Vans also serve the route at their terminal located few meters before the Ceres Bus terminal. Travel time takes around 2 to 3 hours. From Bayawan City proper, take another Ceres Bus for Mabinay for less than Php 100 or hail a motorcycle (habal-habal) ride to Brgy. Dawis. Travel time is around 1 hour. Rates should be around Php 500-700 roundtrip.

From Dumaguete City via Mabinay: Take any Ceres Liner bus heading to Dumaguete-Bacolod / DGT-Kabankalan or DGT-Mabinay route at the Dumaguete Ceres Terminal. Travel time takes around 1 to 2 hours. Tell the bus conductor that you are alighting at Paniabonan Junction or Crossing (going to Dawis/Niludhan Falls). From Paniabonan, wait for the Ceres Bus bound for Bayawan City (limited multiple trips daily) or hire a motorcycle (habal-habal). Travel time is 30 minutes with rates is around Php 400-500 round-trip.

From Bacolod City via Kabankalan/Mabinay.Take any Ceres Liner bus from Bacolod South Bus Terminal heading to Dumaguete City. Tell the conductor that you are alighting at Paniabonan Junction or Crossing (going to Dawis/Niludhan Falls). From Paniabonan, wait for the Ceres Bus bound for Bayawan City (limited multiple trips daily) or hire a motorcycle (habal-habal). Travel time is 30 minutes with rates is around Php 400-500 round-trip.

From Sipalay City via Kabankalan/Mabinay. Take any Ceres Liner bus bound for Kabankalan (around 1.5 hours) and transfer to another Ceres bus going to Dumaguete.

Another option is to take the Ceres bus from Sipalay City going to Hinobaan (less than 1 hour) and transfer to the bus going to Bayawan City (1.5 hours). From Bayawan City proper, take another Ceres Bus for Mabinay or hail a motorcycle (habal-habal) ride to Brgy. Dawis. Travel time is around 1 hour. Rates should be around Php 500-700 round-trip.

WHERE TO STAY

There are no available accommodations so far within the vicinity of Niludhan. One has to go back to Mabinay or proceed to Bayawan City proper, Kabankalan or Dumaguete to find hotels or homestays.

Nearby Attractions. After a quick visit to Niludhan, you can continue your trip to these destinations nearby: Mag-aso Falls in Kabankalan City, Sipalay City or proceed to Bayawan City proper.

Magandang araw! (Good day!)

I'm Reymund Lara, a passionate Filipino educator currently on a thrilling adventure in Japan! From October 2023 to March 2025, I'm expanding my knowledge as a MEXT Teacher Training Scholar. This program allows me to refine my Filipino language skills at Tokushima University and delve into educational research at Naruto University of Education.

My journey as an educator began over a decade ago, teaching elementary school in my hometown of Passi City, Iloilo. Fueled by a desire to connect cultures, I also shared the beauty of the Filipino language and culture as a Fulbright Scholar at a university in Spokane, Washington (USA) from 2020-2021.

Witnessing the global interest in Filipino languages, I founded Learn Filipino with Reymund. This channel provides students with a strong foundation in Filipino before diving into our interactive online classes.

Currently in Japan (Oct 2023 - Mar 2025) as a MEXT Teacher Training Scholar! I'm enriching my knowledge through Japanese language (Nihongo) classes at Tokushima University and educational research at Naruto University of Education. When I'm not busy learning, I love exploring the beauty of Japan and soaking up the everyday life here.
