Nalagarh, a beautiful city in Solan District of Himachal Pradesh in India and renowned in the medieval period as Hindur State was founded by Raja Ajai Chand in 1100 AD, is the gateway to the charming Himachal Pradesh. It was the location of the prestigious princely state during the British Raj. Art and architecture knitted with the culture of this place. The Chandela Rajputs, patron the growth of art and architecture of Nalagarh, once ruled it. TheRamgarh Fort and the associated town of Ramshere demonstrate the excellence and unique craftsmanship of those times. The last ruler of Nalagarh was Raja Surendra Singh.
Nalagarh, a stunning hill station, is very famous for its picturesque beauty. It attracts good number of tourists every year. The Nalagarh Valley is a long band surrounded by the spurs of the outer Himalayas to the north-east and the heavily eroded range of the Shivaliks in the south and west. One can see the ruins of many forts around the valley, which include the forts of Chamba, Surajupur, Ramharh and Malaon.
Nalagarh is best famous for its fortified palace and its excellent wall paintings. This palace, presently a heritage hotel after a recent refurbishment and offers an unusual royal experience to visitors. Apart from the major attraction of Nalagarh Fort, there are numerous other attractions too that are sitting on accessible distance from the city. This is a nice place to visit, blended with the ancient and modern architectures and cultural heritages.

Virasat E Khalsa / Ajuba / 8 wonder ! A must visit ! Best place to learn about sikh history
Virasat-e-Khalsa or Ajuba, it is really one of its kind. But the time I first saw this complex it didn’t look like any museum representing Sikh culture and history. The time you enters the museum’s main gate, it starts showcasing the Sikh history and values of tradition. Visiting Virasaat-e-Khalsa was an unforgettable experience for me. Let’s see what was in the museum which makes it unique, mystical and eternal.
After getting the tickets from the ticket counter, I entered this 100-acre estate called Virasat-e-Khalsa. The museum is divided into two different complexes; the western complex and the eastern complex. Both the complexes are joined by a 540-ft long pedestrian bridge; build over a series of reflecting pools. Arcaded walkways and gardens are on either side of the complex which gently cascades towards the pools.
Talking about the western complex, it comprises of two-level research and reference library and changing exhibition galleries and an auditorium with 400 seating capacity.
The complex has a flower building and a boat building. The flower building roof has shaped in the form of five petals projecting skywards. The boat building roof is designed in geometric shapes – cylindrical, triangular and in the square that rises out of the sand cliffs. What a beautiful architecture. And such wonderful depiction of Sikhism and its entire history of sovereignty and spirituality. I would pay any amount as ticket to visit it again if they start charging.

Gurudwara Shri Patal Puri Sahib Kiratpur, Punjab
Gurdwara Patal Puri, This Gurdwara is situated at Kiratpur in district Rupnagar. It has been built on the banks of the river Sutlej and is situated across the railway tracks and is the place where many Sikhs take the ashes of their dead to be immersed in the river here.
Guru Hargobind in 1644 as well as Guru Har Rai in 1661 were cremated here. The ashes of Guru Harkrishan were brought from Delhi and immersed here in 1664.
The Gurdwara is located in a large plot of land measuring over 1km square and houses a large darbar sahib with a langar hall located near by. A small sarovar is located near the toilet and shower facilities. A footbridge is located to connect the devotees to the bank of the river. Ample car parking space is available on the Gurdwara grounds. The main entrance to the Gurdwara is from behind the main building. Gardens and living rooms are located to the right of the main building.

Dargah Peer Sai Baba Budhan Shahji in Rupnagar, Punjab
Peer Budhan Ali Shah, who some claim was born an Arab named Shams-ud-din, (Sun of the faith) was a Sufi Muslim Saint (some claim he lived to be more than 200 years old) He is also said to have been born in Talwandi (now known as Nankana sahib), the birth place of Guru Nanak sahib. He lived in the area of today's Kiratpur, long before the township was established.
Many myths have been written about him and two cities have shrines that claim to hold his remains. In Jammu City planes are said to dip in deference to his memory on landing and taking off. On each Thursday, his grave near the city's airport becomes the site of a huge Langar as people bring pots of Biryani, to the tomb of the beloved Sant who was a vegetarian his whole life.
Others say he was the model for Gandhi ji's diet his last years, as he subsisted only on milk from his goats that were milked by lions the Pir kept that were there shepherds and milkers as well. Such are the tales of this legend grown larger than life.

Anandpur Sahib is a city in Rupnagar district (Ropar) in the state of Punjab, India. Known as the holy City of Bliss, it is a holy city of the Sikhs and is one of their most important sacred places, closely linked with their religious traditions and history. It is located on the lower spurs of the Himalayas surrounded by picturesque natural scenery, with the river Sutlej forming a shimmering and shiny blue border on the south west barely four miles away.
Anandpur Sahib was founded in 1665 by the ninth Sikh Guru, Guru Tegh Bahadur when he bought a tract of land. Here on the mound of Makhowal, Guru Tegh Bahadur raised a new habitation. The ground was broken on 19 June 1665, by Baba Gurditta. The new village was named Chakk Nanaki after the Guru's mother, Nanaki. The place later came to be known as Anandpur Sahib.
Anandpur Sahib comes to life every year on the occasion of Hola Mohalla. This tradition dates back to the times of the 10th Guru, Guru Gobind Singh. The guru decreed that the occasion of the festival of Holi be the occasion for the display of the martial spirit of his people. He gave this festival of Holi the Sikh name of 'Hola Mohalla'. Each year Hola Mohalla marks the congregation of up to 100,000 devotees from all over the country for a festival of colour and gaiety.
