Riquewihr is a delightful blend of cobbled streets, medieval fortifications, half-timbered houses, winemakers’ shops with tasting rooms, and rooftops adorned with nesting white storks!
Only 11 km from Colmar in the Alsace region of France, the beautiful flowered village of Riquewihr is a member of the Les Plus Beaux Villages de France and right on the road to travel the famous Route des Vins. Other Alsatian villages in the area worth visiting are Ribeauvillé, Hunawihr, Eguisheim and also the town of Kaysersberg.
Riquewihr has a population of just over 1,000 people and is classed as an open air museum. The village architecture has not changed much since the 16th century and it is also renowned for the Riesling and other wines historically produced in the area.
