ECSTASEA Super Yacht
ECSTASEA Super Yacht - Ordered by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, Ecstasea was built in 2004 as the largest Feadship ever built. The yacht was built in the shipyard of Royal Van Lent and has length of 85.95 metres (282.0 ft), and a beam of 11.50 metres (37.7 ft), resulting in a deadweight of 585 metric tons. The yacht is made of all steel, and is much closer to a luxury ship, than to a yacht.
Her exterior design was created by the teamwork of Terence Disdale and De Voogt Naval Architects, with Disdale also responsible for the yacht's Asian-style interior. David Waite-Wright, who was Senior Designer at Disdales, oversaw the project. The yacht later went on to win multiple interior design awards. She has capacity for 14 passengers, who are divided into 6 separate rooms.

She boasts seven luxurious staterooms for 14 guests served by a large elevator and twin 1650hp Caterpillar engines give her a cruising speed of 14 knots. She has a great range of 4,107 nautical miles at an economical cruising speed of 12.4 knots.

And again, we are on the way to explore new countries. We have chosen a longer but cheap flight from Frankfurt to Dushanbe in Tajikistan. It offers us the possibility to explore Saint Petersburg for one day. But first things first: At noon we take the train to Frankfurt, where our airplane takes off around 18.40. Not to Saint Petersburg, but first to Riga in Latvia.
From Frankfurt, the flight goes directly to the Baltic Sea, where we reach the sea near Gdansk. We fly past Kaliningrad along the coast and have a good view of Klaipeda in Lithuania, which we would have liked to visit, as it should be a beautiful destination.
With the setting sun, we land around 22:15 in Riga. We have booked a hotel at the airport since our connecting flight from Riga to Saint Petersburg starts at 7:50 am. The Sky High Hotel is within few minutes on foot from the airport. It offers all the amenities we need for few hours of sleep. We decided in favor of a hotel since we did not feel like spending the night in the waiting hall at the airport. And the next morning a full day of sightseeing expects us before we will continue our flight in the middle of the night.
Our plane airplane to Saint Peterburg starts on schedule the next morning. From above, we have a fantastic view of Riga, which we visited a year before. Then we cross the Peipus Lake and the Narva, which forms the border to the EU and thus between Estonia and Russia.
The oil shale mining in this region is also clearly visible.
Shortly thereafter, our plane airplane lands at 9:10 in Saint Petersburg.

Wieder machen wir uns auf neue Länder zu erkunden. Wir haben einen längeren, aber preisgünstigen Flug von Frankfurt nach Duschanbe in Tadschikistan gewählt. Er bietet uns die Möglichkeit einen Tag Sankt Petersburg zu erkunden. Aber der Reihe nach:
Mittags machen wir uns mit dem Zug auf den Weg nach Frankfurt, wo unser Flugzeug um 18:40 abhebt. Aber nicht nach Sankt Petersburg, sondern erst nach Riga in Lettland.
Von Frankfurt aus geht der Flug direkt an die Ostsee, wo wir bei Danzig das Meer erreichen. Vorbei an Kaliningrad folgen wir der Küste und haben eine guten Ausblick auf Klaipeda in Litauen, das wir eigentlich auch gerne besucht hätten, da es sehr schön sein soll.
Bei untergehender Sonne landen wir um 22:15 in Riga. Wir haben ein Hotel direkt am Flughafen gebucht, da unser Anschlussflug um 7:50 von Riga nach St. Petersburg startet. Es ist das Sky High Hotel, das vom Flugsteig aus in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar ist. Es bietet alle Annehmlichkeiten, die man für wenige Stunden Schlaf benötigt.
Wir haben uns für das Sky High Hotel entschieden, da wir keine Lust hatten die Nacht in der Wartehalle zu verbringen, vor allem, da uns am nächsten Tag ein volles Besichtigungsprogramm erwartet und wir in der Nacht darauf wieder weiterfliegen.
Pünktlich am nächsten Morgen startet unser Flugzeug. Wir haben aus der Luft einen fantastischen Ausblick auf Riga, das wir ein Jahr zuvor besucht haben. Danach überqueren wir den Peipussee und die Narva, die die Grenze zwischen Estland und damit der EU und Russland bilden. Gut zu erkennen ist auch der Ölschieferabbau in dieser Region.
Kurz darauf, um 9:10, landet unser Flugzeug bereits in Sankt Petersburg.
