Latest #HerdTracker update: Wildebeest moving at high-speed crossing point no 8 and no 10
June is traditionally the Grumeti River crossing period! However, the wildebeest herds are very early this year!!
Safari guide Emmanuel captured the wildebeest from the Eastern Serengeti in the Bolongoja moving at high-speed crossing point no 8 and no 10 in the Mara River. A small herd is still in the Western corridor moving towards the Mara River.

Latest #HerdTracker update: Great Wildebeest Migration heading towards the Western Corridor
Céline Vdc witnessed a large herd of the wildebeest and zebra heading towards the Western Serengeti, Tanzania.
June and July are the most popular times to visit the Western Corridor and the Grumeti to see the Grumeti River crossings and the herds on the move, but September and October are also great months to see the remaining herds of zebra and wildebeest, along with other resident wildlife such as elephant, leopard and lion.
If you’re travelling during June and July, you’ll need to reserve lodging far in advance, as there aren’t many places to stay in the region!

Lemala Mpingo Ridge - Room Tour
We start our 10-day Tanzania Safari with two nights in Lemala Mpingo Ridge located inside Tarangire National Park.
The property sits on top of an escarpment with sweeping views across the Tarangire River and valley below. The Idiots Abroad - Tanzania - Wildlife Safari video - Episode 6 - Northern Serengeti
In October, 2011, the idiots were able to travel through the beautiful landscape of the Northern Serengeti with few other tourists in sight. The animals were abundant and were mostly unconcerned with observers, allowing close contacts.
The soundtrack is Miriam Makeba doing a song that has an interesting history and has become the material for numerous articles and a documentary film. It is known in the US as 'Wemoweh (The Lion Sleeps Tonight).' Versions of the song became very popular in the 1960s and it was marketed as an old African folks song.
It was actually a song 'Mbube' (Zulu for 'lion') written by Solomon Linda in the 1920s. When Pete Seeger got a copy of the 1939 78 rpm original recording he misheard the chorus - Uyimbube and the song got its new life in western markets... and due to the mistake about it being a folk song, royalties did not easily make their ways back to the writer.
When The Tokens recorded the mass market pop hit, a writer George Weiss added the familiar English lyrics about the lion sleeping tonight. When Disney used the song in the Lion King, lawsuits between the Linda family estate and Disney and other royalties organizations... millions of dollars are involved.

This is a typical day moving camp as the team heads north to the Mara River, Tanzania. Some challenges and rewards in the beautiful Serengeti National Park – with some stunning scenery and African Wildlife. Lucy the 1968 Land Rover is going well, although there is some tyre trouble which had to be resolved in the town of Mugumu.
