Facts
Ireland is known for its wide expanses of lush, green fields. In fact, its nickname is the Emerald Isle.
But there are also large areas of rugged, rocky landscape. About 15,000 years ago,
Ireland was completely covered by thick glaciers.
The movement of these giant sheets of ice stripped the soil,
leaving huge tracts of flat, limestone pavement.
NATURE
The Irish have a great affection for nature and rural life.
The country's first coins even featured pictures of animals.
Low levels of development and pollution in Ireland have left most of the nation's open spaces relatively undisturbed.
Did you know that there are no wild snakes in Ireland?
The sea has stopped many animals common on mainland Europe from reaching the island.
There are also only two wild mouse species, one type of lizard, and just three kinds of amphibians.

St. Patrick's Park Dublin - Things to Do in Dublin, Ireland
Dublin, which is found on Ireland's east coast at the mount of the River Liffey, is the rich capital that has lots of old historical buildings which tourists are always planning to visit once they set their feet on the grounds of the city.
Dublin Castle, the National Museum of Ireland, St. Patrick's Cathedral ( these are all different examples for the places that people usually know about and place them in the must-do category. Even if those historical buildings are considered much more important than other places, there are still those green parks which people could visit for some good family time at a park that might also be historical and carries a long history behind as well.
St. Patrick's Park in Dublin is one of those examples to share and recommend since it is a historical park that has been taken care of since a long time ago. St. Patrick's Park is considered a good and ideal recreational space for families due to the relaxing environment that it has as well as the kids playing area that welcomes them all the time.
One of the old historical buildings that mark Dublin is St. Patrick's Cathedral which is the national cathedral of the church of Ireland and a construction that was found in 1191 and that is exactly where St. Patrick's Park is located; it is located just right beside the cathedral.
There are lots of different stories which are told about St. Patrick's Park and even the cathedral, usually these stories make people a little bit interested about visiting the place and hearing about all those stories. One of these things told about the place was that St. Patrick baptized the first Irish Christians in the park with water from River Poddle that flows underground.
St. Patrick's park was developed by lord Iveagh under the St. Patrick's Park Act of 1897 and it was completed by 1904 to a layout by Arthur Dugeon. Lord Iveagh continued to maintain the park for a number of years under a joint arrangement with the corporation who eventually took full responsibility in the 1920s.
In addition to the cathedral that is situated right next to the park, there were other additions added in 1988 which include a Literary Parade highlighting the works of Swift, Mangan, Shaw, Yeats, Synge, O'Casey, Joyce, Behan, Beckett, Clarke, Dillon, and the Liberty Bell Sculpture.
One of the things that also highlight the place is the sandstone fountain that stands in the middle of the park and which is 2 meters high and 1.4 meters in diameter. This is one of the things we believe that added much more to the park and gave it this relaxing feeling - of course apart from the amount of noise that might be coming from the kids playground that is found in the place :-) There is also another smaller fountain that is found inside the park and which was made by J. Whitehead & Sons Ltd London, which is found on the park's east side; this fountain is 151 meters high and is made of polished granite.
One of the questions that is always asked about this garden is why it was actually developed in this place; St. Patrick's Park was established at this location to commemorate the Royal Jubilee, but we have to say that it added much to the place and made it look a lot better and gave people the chance to enjoy a green walk or a relaxing time with their friends and family members.
The park was opened by King Edward VII on July 24th 1902 who expressed his satisfaction with the grounds.
Since Dublin is the capital city of the Republic of Ireland then it usually happens to be one of the top cities visited in Ireland in general and this should bring us to the point where we have to suggest some of the other important landmarks and attractions which people should go to and check.
In addition to St. Patrick's Park, which will also give people the chance to visit St. Patrick's Cathedral, one could also check River Liffey in Dublin and have a walk by it or even do any of the activities that could be done there ( visit the Mansion House in Dublin ( have a walk through another famous park in Dublin which is known as Phoenix Park ( have a stroll in O'Connell street which is good for sightseeing, shopping, as well as good night outs ( there is also the Merrion Square ( Molly Malone Statue ( or even enjoying the sights of the city by riding the hop-on hop-off bus tour which will drive you through the most famous streets and across the most famous attractions in Dublin (

Great Capitals of The World- Dublin
(This is part of a 10 DVD Series)
Synopsis:
In many of the world's great cities travelling between the various attractions can be time consuming and expensive, but a visit to Ireland's fascinating capital, Dublin, will certainly encourage you to travel on foot. Gracing both banks of the River Liffey, even crossing the beautiful bridges is a delightful experience, and with classically proportioned Georgian architecture, surrounding peaceful elegant greens, it would seem that this is one city that has had a painless evolution. But look a little more closely and Dublin has a very different tale to tell.
The fight for independence has dominated Dublin's history, whether with marauding Vikings or Ireland's British neighbours, and the scars of battle can be found if you know where to look. From the General Post Office on O'Connell Street that was at the heart of the Easter 1916 Uprising, to Dublin Castle, once a symbol of occupation, there are many places for quiet contemplation, but this truly is a city of contrasts, that also happens to be one of the liveliest, hospitable places on earth. So, take a trip to visit the brightest jewel in the Emerald Isle, shot in glorious HD, and enjoy Dublin's unique atmosphere.
