Magnificent Ira Lalaro lake in Lautem district by motobike, East Timor
I happened to visit this spectacular area at the beginning of rainy season, when the lake was out of water after dry season. I hence failed to reach the open water which was far from the banks and hard to reach because of much mud around preventing me from advancing further.
The lake is famous as the major habitat of crocodiles in Timor Leste. I am really eager to come back here after the rainy season when there's plenty of water and to see the crocs.

Marobo hot springs in Bobonaro district - land of fabulous landscapes in Timor Leste
I made this 2 days trip to Morobo hot springs by motobike at Easter 2016. I greatly enjoyed the road across this spectacular mountainous region - one of the most beautiful in East Timor. Heading out of Dili at around 8 am I passed by Batugade, Balibo and Maliana and I was held up by holiday ceremonial processions in different villages, hence I arrived to Morobo around 16:00 which was quite late so I had to stop for the night at a guest house in Batugade which was OK but too expensive to my concern - 30$ a night incl. breakfast (which I swapped for dinner)
On my way back I enjoyed very refreshing morning bathing in the sea and an amazing breakfast at the Maubara Fort restaurant.
The biggest issue of this trip is the road condition which worsens significantly after Maliana. 4wd is highly recommended although I met an Indonesian family in Morobo that arrived by minivan.
One Dollar Beach near Manleu - one of the best beaches in Timor Leste.
It's around 40 min driving from dili. This site is good not just for swimming, but also for hiking and snorkelling and picnics. The infrastructure has been redeveloped and is kinda new although I for one don't fancy the style of the new concrete double-deckers. The old bamboo huts were cozier and more authentic.
Amazing motobike trip in Timor Leste: Mota Loes - Balibo Fort - Batugade - Indonesian border
Another great weekend around Timor Leste full of discoveries and great moments to remember. Although very tiny, Timor Leste has plenty of places to see at the weekend.
The 2 biggest problems for tourism development now are - lack of good transportation and crazy prices for accommodation. The hotel in Balibo fort, which is not even a 3***, offers rooms for 90-130$. For Asia it's absolutely unreasonable and that's why the hotel is empty all of the time. A local poorly looking guest house in Batugade was 25$ a night which is ridiculous as well. It doesn't help tourism development and it doesn't contribute to local communities.

Tutuala is about 231 km from Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste. It takes 6 to 7 hours to drive.

Timor Leste, or officially the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste, which was previously known as East Timor, is an island country in Southeast Asia. This country is located to the north of Australia and the eastern part of the island of Timor. East Timor was a colony of Portugal for over 400 years. Both countries belong to Community of Portuguese Language Countries.
I fly with Sriwijaya Airlines from Ngurah Rai Airport Denpasar Bali and landing at Presidente Nicolau Lobato Airport Dili.
Road trip start by driving around Dili to Timor Plasa, Palacio Governor, Pasir Putih Beach, then Christo Rei, and also another amazing beach around Dili by Toyota Avanza, Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Megapro
I also go to the border Indonesia - Timor Leste at Motaain Nusa Tenggara Timur province aound 5 hour from Dili.. because bad road.
Not to forget explore Atauro Island by ferry boat KMP Berlin Nakroma from Dili Harbour in a day

Friends, today I will take you to a beautiful Cafe near the hill and I will also tell you the history behind the development of the cafe. Let's turn around then
Dare Memorial Museum and Cafe are around 9 km from Dili, the capital of Timor – Leste 20 to 25 minutes’ drive time. Position of Dare Memorial Cafe adjacent to the hilltop.
During World War II, the Australian Army continued to conduct guerrilla operations against Japanese Army with the cooperation of general population of Portuguese Timor in 1942, and at that time its success and title depended on the people of Timor.
In recognition of the courage and friendship of the people of Timor-Leste in assisting the Australian Army, a proposal was made to build a living monument on a hill above the city of Dili, which was the residence of Australian troops during Portuguese Timor.
The memorial was built to raise AUS$ 8,000 from former Australian federal government servicemen.
Today’s Dare Memorial Museum and Cafe is the result of the tireless work and tireless efforts of Kirsty Sword Gusmão, the First First Lady of independent Timor-Leste of Australian descent.
For seven years from March 2001, Kirsty Sword Gusmão, her husband Ex President, Xanana Gusmão, and their children lived in the village of Balibar, just south of the Fatunaba memorial site. Kirsty Sword Gusmão said: My first priority as a mother and teacher was to establish a beautiful school structure that could accommodate more young children in Fatunab. I used to pass the primary school every day on my way to Dili and I used to have trouble seeing about 200 children from the local area struggling to learn to study in a limited place, She said. Eventually she succeeded in gaining the support needed to establish the school - the Dare Memorial Museum, Cafe & the Fatunaba Memorial Primary School.
The activities of Memorial Cafe started on April 25, 2009. Dare Memorial Museum & Dare Memorial Café today working as a place of interest for all Timorese people. The school is open 5 days a week and the cafe are open only on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 9pm.
At Dare Memorial Cafe you will find all kinds of snacks, ice cream, fresh juices and world-famous Timorese organic coffee.
Although there are less visitors in the morning, in the sweet sun of the afternoon, the crowd of visitors gathers in this beautiful and charming place. You can come to Dare Memorial Cafe in a uniquely beautiful environment to spend a beautiful afternoon with all the family members & friends. There are audiovisual shows for visitors - so that all visitors can learn about the history of the museum and share it with everyone if needed. The national flags of East Timor & Australia in front of the Dare Memorial School are reminiscent of the friendly friendship between the two countries.

পূর্ব তিমুরের রাজধানী দিলি শহর থেকে দারে মেমোরিয়াল জাদুঘর এবং কাফের দূরত্ব প্রায় ৯ কিলোমিটার - ড্রাইভ করে যেতে সময় লাগে ২০ থেকে ২৫ মিনিট। পাহাড়ের সুউচচ চূড়ার পাশ ঘেঁষে অবস্থান করছে দারে মেমোরিয়াল কাফে।
দ্বিতীয় বিশ্বযুদ্ধ চলাকালীন সময়ে অস্ট্রেলিয়ান সেনাবাহিনী ১৯৪২ সালে পর্তুগীজ তিমুরের সাধারণ মানুষের সহযোগিতায় জাপানী সেনাদের বিরুদ্ধে গেরিলা অপারেশন চালিয়েছিল এবং সেই সময়ে তাদের সাফল্য এবং টিকে থাকা তিমুরের জনগণের সমর্থনের উপর নির্ভরশীল ছিল ।
অস্ট্রেলিয়ান সেনাবাহিনীকে সহায়তায় তিমুরের জনগণের সাহসিকতা ও বন্ধুত্বের স্বীকৃতি স্বরূপ, দিলির শহরের উপরে একটি পাহাড়ে জীবন্ত স্মৃতিস্তম্ভ নির্মাণের প্রস্তাব উত্থাপন করা হয়েছিল যেটা পর্তুগীজ তিমুরের সময় অস্ট্রেলিয়ান সৈন্যদের বাসস্থান ছিল।
অস্ট্রেলিয়া ফেডারাল সরকারের প্রাক্তন সার্ভিসম্যানদের পক্ষ থেকে ৮০০০ অস্ট্রেলিয়ান ডলাররের অর্থ সংগ্রহ করা হয়েছিল এবং স্মৃতির সাথে মিল রেখে স্মৃতিসৌধটি নির্মাণ করা হয়েছিল।
আজকের Dare মেমোরিয়াল যাদুঘর এবং ক্যাফে অস্ট্রেলিয়ান বংশোদ্ভূত স্বাধীন তিমুর-লেস্টের প্রথম ফার্স্ট লেডি Kirsty Sword Gusmão র অক্লান্ত পরিশ্রম এবং অবিরাম প্রচেষ্টার ফল।

Bazartete - nice mountain village in Liquica district, Timor Leste | Базартете, Восточный Тимор
Bazartete was a complete surprise to me. I didn't expect much from the visit but ended up really enjoying the trip. And it's so close to Dili. Can definitely recommend it for a day trip. I wish they would open a cafe or restaurant there though. At present moment there is zero tourist infrastructure and the road is habitually bad as any other mountain road in Timor.

Pousada/pusada de Tutuala in Lautem district, Timor Leste
So I visited Jaco island Island at the end of my South Coast tour and decided to spend a night in Pousada de Tutuala. It's location is simply unmatched - on the top of a hill with breathtaking views of the rain forests descending gracefully to the deep blue sea. I watched the sunset and met the sunrise there and it was something unreal. But the best thing was that I was the only customer at the hotel that night and the staff left me completely alone at night. It was an interesting and a bit scary experience. The wind was whistling though my windows all night long and my sleep was quite wary. Actually I was pretty relieved to see the first rays of a new day in the morning.
