This Michigan coastal trio has been nicknamed Michigan's little traverse bay, and for good reason! This area really surprised us with its charming downtowns, beautiful coastlines, and amazing real estate!
These towns were really well kept and I can see why the price tag on many of these homes was so high. These areas seemed very polished, safe, and family friendly - definitely worth visiting next time you're in Michigan!!

Manistee - The perfect weekend trip on the lake Michigan
Manistee is charming and historical small town on the border of Lake Michigan, perfect for a short summer trip (4 hours from Detroit). Welcoming lake beaches, a nice downtown crowded with small shops and restaurants, a long Riverwalk for evening walks and many activities in the surrounding area, from hiking, to biking, and skiing in the winter.
We spent there 3 days staying at the Dempsey Manor Bed & Breakfast Inn, a Victorian House that is also a small museum with a variety of antiques from different countries. Jim and Jan are perfect hosts that will warmly welcome you.

Discover the Charm of Manistee, MI
The history of Manistee, Michigan, is a long and rich one. The area was first inhabited by the Ojibwe people, who called it Manistee, meaning spirit of the woods. In the early 1800s, European settlers began to arrive in the area, drawn by the abundant natural resources. The first sawmill was built in 1841, and soon the town of Manistee was a thriving lumber center. In 1871, a fire destroyed much of the town, but it was rebuilt quickly. By the end of the 19th century, Manistee was a major tourist destination, known for its beautiful scenery, its beaches, and its grand hotels. In the early 20th century, the logging industry declined, but Manistee continued to grow. The city became a major center for the salt industry, and it also developed a thriving tourism industry. Today, Manistee is a charming city with a rich history. It is home to a variety of historical landmarks, including the Ramsdell Theatre, the Manistee County Historical Museum, and the Manistee Lighthouse

RV Travel: Manistee, Michigan - the town we fell in love with
Come check out awesome Manistee, Michigan. A quiet little town on the shore of Lake Michigan that we fell in love with. It truly is a beautiful and quiet town. We stayed at the Little River Casino RV Park, just north of town. Freighters travel from Lake Michigan down the Manistee River through town. There are two draw bridges that they have to pass through before reaching Manistee Lake, where Morton Salt is located. We didn't get to see any ships while we were there, but we have seen photos and videos online and it's a sight to see as they meander down the narrow river. There is even a Facebook group called Manistee Ship Watch where they keep up with all the info of the ships, when they arrive, depart, and even post pictures. Go check it out!
