This film will take you to one of the world’s most inaccessible countries, yet one of the most fascinating. For centuries, the Iranians have been extracting the most exquisite turquoises in our planet.
The mines are located in the east of the country, near the border with Afghanistan, where no foreigners can enter. It is near the town of Nishapur, in desert-like surroundings, that for the last four centuries these exquisite turquoises are extracted.
The men in the village of Firuze (Persian for turquoise) have from one generation to the next been digging in the mountains. In the endless tunnels the miners look for blue veins which pass through the dark rock. The older men sort out the stones on the floor of the mine and then store them in a well guarded room while waiting for their monthly auction held in the mine itself. Only known merchants who are genuine Iranians are admitted.
Turquoises purchased in this way fuel a sizeable artisanal crafts industry in the holy city of Mashad. In the bazaars the jewelers make large quantities of ornaments, in particular silver rings, studded with turquoise and worn by Muslim men following the advice of their prophet. According to Persian tradition, wearing a turquoise keeps away the evil eye and is a protection against enemies.
The Turquoise Route was established long ago. In the treasury vaults of Suse and Persepolis, archeologists discovered large quantities of jewelry adorned with this blue stone; however, the world’s largest known reserves of precious stones and jewels are hidden in the Treasury of the Shahs of Iran, in the depths of Melli Bank’s basements in Tehran. You will have the privilege of being immersed in this Treasury which has hardly ever been filmed.
At the Shah of Iran’s request, the Boucheron family helped in the Treasury’s restoration and its displays as we know them today. This story will be told to you in the film and will allow you to discover jeweler Boucheron’s contemporary turquoise creations.
Iran Land of wonderful villages
The harmony between nature and culture in Iran has created many unique and beautiful villages scattered all over Iran's plateau. Among them are some extremely interesting human settlements which cannot be found anywhere in the world. Some of them are older than a millennium and some has been impossible to realize when in the history they started to exist. As such are Abyaneh, Kandeloos, Kandovan, Masoleh, Majn, Ma-Khunnik around Birjand city in Khorasan province, Maymand in Kerman province, Qahhi in Esfahan province, Balbar, loft, and Orramannat in Kurdistan…etc, which life current mixed with tradition, custom, natural scenery and culture are flowing.
Opert Ridge, Upert, Mazandaran, Semnan, Parvar Protectetd Area, Iran - اوپرت - اپرت
Opert is one of the beautiful regions of Iran, which is located between the two provinces of Mazandaran and Semnan. This region has beautiful forests downstream and a high stone wall upstream has become one of the most important tourist destinations in this region.
The position of the Opert Wall is such that it prevents clouds from passing from the north to the south, so the view of the cloud ocean can be seen in this area most days of the year, and many nature lovers to see this view for a long distance to reach They pass through this area.
Cloud trapping in the northern part and the consequent increase in humidity and rainfall in that area has increased vegetation and created dense forests. In contrast, the lack of moisture in the southern part has led to poor vegetation, and this contrast on both sides of a wall a short distance away is astonishing.
Although Opert is geographically located in Mazandaran province, but the access route to it is from Semnan province and Shahmirzad city. The main route is a unsuitable for cars, and for this reason, to visit this area, you should use SUV cars.

Border of Mazandaran and Semnan provinces Nature and Roudbarak forest
Rudbarak Forest is known as a popular destination for nature tourism due to its broad-leaved vegetation, cool climate and many places of interest such as waterfalls, caves and springs. Roodbarak is one of the sights of Semnan and the national tourist areas of Mahdishahr city, which has the last parts of the Hyrcanian forests of Semnan province.
The interesting point here is that near Semnan with dry and desert climate, there are forest areas with semi-humid climate which in addition to forest cover, by creating moisture in the valleys and mountains of this region leads to the formation of clouds and very pristine landscapes in most days of the year.
Rudbarak forest is one of the sights of Mehdi Shahr and is located 80 km northeast of Semnan province and 63 km from Mahdishahr, on the Shahmirzad-Kiasar road on the southern slope of the Alborz mountain range.
Rudbarak Mahdishahr Forest Park, also known as Rudbarak Shahmirzad Forest Park, has an area of more than eight thousand hectares, which includes 3,000 hectares of pastures and more than 1,500 hectares of agricultural and horticultural farms. This forest is one of the protected areas and natural parks of the country, which attracts many tourists every year due to its sights.

Alasht, North of Iran | آلاشت، پل ورسک
Alasht (meaning Eagle Sanctuary) is a city in the Central District of Savadkuh County, Mazandaran Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 976, in 287 families.
Alasht is isolated by surrounding mountains, which gives it a cooler climate than most regions of the province. It is most known for being the birthplace of Reza Shah Pahlavi, the founder of the Pahlavi dynasty.
Alasht has a natural spring and is also noted for being one of the few cryotherapy spots of the province.
In addition, caves in and around Alasht are rich with minerals, mostly anthracite coal reserves.
Due to its location, Alasht is fairly cool throughout the year. Winter in the village is particularly harsh, causing most of the inhabitants to move to warmer areas for the season. However, the rainfall in the village is similar to the rest of the province, with approximately 593 millimeters of precipitation per year.
