Visit Nghunghwa Lodge Accommodation in Praia do Bilene on the magnificent coast of Mozambique, 180km north of Maputo. Nghunghwa Lodge offers various options of luxury accommodation. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and are air-conditioned, and all houses have spacious patios overlooking the lagoon. Houses are serviced daily. Except for the Presidential Suite, all houses have fully equipped kitchens with full sized fridge & freezer, gas stove, microwave oven and kettle. For guests that wish to self-cater, there is a Saverite (Shoprite) in Macia en route to Bilene (about 32km from Bilene) and in Bilene itself there is a market where fresh veggies and bread can be purchased, as well as some liquor, although it is rather expensive. Fresh fish and prawns can be bought from local fishermen at the resort. We are in the process of building a shop at the resort where basic necessities can be bought.

We’re in Bilene for the next leg of our Mozambique travel series! Bilene lies 200km north of Maputo in the Gaza Province. It’s famous for a few things and during this leg we’ll be experiencing them all - the expansive lagoon, dunes, delectable prego & sunsets! First we make a mandatory roadside Pao purchase before turning off towards Bilene.
We’re staying at Boa Vista Resort! It’s situated right on Lagoa Uembje (Lagoon). This 1 bedroom service chalet is only 1200MZN/R350/19USD per night for 2 adults. We found Boa Vista Resort on Agoda (prices may vary)

Perfectly appointed along Lagoa Uembje we have a front row seat for Bilene’s famous sunset! Known for its sunsets, we specifically chose Bilene to be able to experience some of the best sunsets you will ever experience.
Bilene is known for its unmissable dunes! Naturally separating Lagoa Uembje (Lagoon) & Praia do Bilene (beach), are dunes as high as mountains! Driving these dunes is a must when in Bilene! There are also many 4x4 tours which can be arranged. The setting is beyond anything you could imagine. Dunes as far as the eye can see.

1. Take a drive along the shores of the lagoon.
2. Marvel at the crystal clear fresh blue water.

4. Visit Flip Flop Bar for their world famous steak pregos.
World famous sunsets here in Bilene. We found our very own hidden sunset viewing point. A solitary sand bar on the shores of Lagoa Uembje. What a way to conclude this leg of our Mozambique trip.

The 27 km long lagoon with its beautiful beachfront is the ideal spot for family holidays, where you can participate in various water sport.
Self Drive Do it Yourself Mozambique:
The mouth of the lagoon, usually blocked by a massive sandbank, is best reached by boat, although a long difficult 4x4 track does allow you access to the beach and the open sea.
A qualified dive instructor with a fully equipped boat [s available for those who want to explore the magnificent reefs in the area either diving or snorkeling.
Deep-sea fishing in the area is also very popular and boats can be chartered at the resort.
Bilene is an excellent destination for all watersports enthusiasts especially those who want to ski, sail or just enjoy the beauty of the lagoon on a barge trip.

The Importance Of Massingir Dam
It’s another picture-perfect evening in Mozambique’s Limpopo National Park as the sun casts an orange glow across the spectacular Massingir Dam. Knowing this isn’t an opportunity to be missed, Peace Parks’ Hannes takes to the skies to capture the beauty of this incredible area.
Not only is the dam and the rivers that feed into it one of the largest breeding grounds for the Nile crocodile, but it also has a significant socio-economic impact on the local communities who live in the park's buffer zone. As they rely on water from the dam for domestic and irrigation purposes, Mozambique’s National Administration for Conservation Areas, with support from Peace Parks Foundation, has handed over several water pumps to the communities for them to use in agricultural activities.
Providing them with year-round access to water and irrigation schemes, farmers can grow a variety of crops throughout the year which not only gives families a balanced diet and additional sustenance, but excess harvests are sold and the additional income is used to improve their quality of life.
