Stonehurst Campground, outside Moncton NB Canada
Labour Day (Canadian spelling) weekend at a very nice campground in Eastern Canada. Being the last long weekend of the summer and the traditional end of summer for Canadians (children go back to school right after Labour Day) the park is full! We have been here almost 3 weeks and have have another 5 weeks visiting family here.
If you are going to the other Maritime provinces - Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland - all roads go through Moncton. It is worth a stop here on the backside of Lutes Mountain just outside Moncton. From here you can get to downtown in about 20 minutes, to Hopewell Cape to see the Flowerpot Rocks and experience the world's highest tides in under 45 minutes or to the Moncton Casino in about 5 minutes.
RAWSON LAKE & SARRAIL RIDGE HIKE | BEST hike in Kananaskis!
The Rawson lake and Sarrail ridge hike has a special place in our hearts. We rank it as THE BEST HIKE IN KANANASKIS! Why? Because the views from the Sarrail Ridge are out of this world. But also Rawson Lake is a beautiful glacial lake and suitable for a wide range of abilities. It is the perfect beginner's hike in Kananaskis Country! However, when combined with the Sarrail Ridge it is very challenging. The climb up from Rawson Lake to the ridge crosses prime grizzly habitat and is VERY steep. We hiked up to Sarrail Ridge via Rawson Lake in the beginning of July and there was still some snow along Rawson Lake. But what really held us up was the grizzly bear that was on the Sarrail Ridge trail. We had to wait it out for about 30mins. Luckily we also found two other people to group with. It is recommended to hike to Sarrail Ridge with at least 4 people. That's the magic number you need to avoid a grizzly bear attack. The Sarrail Ridge hike boasts one of the best views in all of Kananaskis. Sarrail Ridge is definitely one of our top 10 hikes in the Canadian Rockies.

The Tidal Bore in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada.
There's a natural phenomenon that happens in Moncton, New Brunswick that brings people together everyday. Check THIS out!
Sure, the Petiticodiac river flows left and OUT towards the Atlantic Ocean - but - twice a day, people gather, find the best viewing spot and get their cameras ready to watch THIS
The tidal bore.
Billions of tonnes of water move into the infamous Bay of Fundy on New Brunswick’s south coast. As the water rises and pushes into the river, it creates a tidal bore with water levels reaching on average up to 2 feet. It was something I had never seen before and let me tell you, watching this for the first time, was epic. Blew me away.
That's something you have to experience in Moncton, New Brunswick. That is awesome!
