Woodhead Tunnels, Longdendale trail, Crowden, Torside, Reservoirs.
Today I headed to the Woodhead Tunnels, the start of the Longdendale trail.
I Mountain Biked around Crowden Reservoir, Torside Reservoir and Woodhead Reservoir following the old Railway line down one side. This is now the Longdendale trail and was a monumental feat of Victorian Engineering.
I then came back along the Pennine trail on the other side which is a more difficult path but just as stunning.
The Longdendale trail itself is a 10 kilometer trail which takes you all the way to Hadfield, a pretty little village just outside Glossop.
If I'd had more time I would of done the full trail, my suggestion for anyone wishing to do this would be to set off around 8 or 9 am as there is quite a few nice places to see if you wander round Hadfield. Alternatively there is actually a really nice camping site at Crowden and one at Torside which would be a nice place to base yourself for a couple of days. Or if you prefer wild camping there are numerous lay-bys and carparks dotted around with no restrictions on them.

Longdendale Trail 4K (walk) 29 June 21 (10)
On Longdendale Trail (Trans Pennine Trail) from the old level crossing towards Woodhead. Then from opposite the large car park and boat yard going right into open country and up towards Long Gutter Edge. Heading towards Torside Clough. At this point I ran out of battery power so I re-did Torside clough again in the next walk.

Longdendale Trail
The Longdendale Trail is situated in the Upper Longdendale Valley.
Longdendale Valley provides a variety of recreation activities, including a sailing club on Torside reservoir; water skiing and fishing on Bottoms reservoir; horseriding, cycling and walking on the Longdendale Trail , (also suitable for people with disabilities); camping at Crowden and climbing at three different sites. There are two official car parks - Crowden and Torside - and a picnic area and information point at Torside.
The River Etherow, a tributary of the River Mersey, rises south of Holmfirth and then flows through a chain of six reservoirs known as the Longdendale Chain: Arnside Reservoir, Bottoms Reservoir, Valehouse Reservoir, Rhodeswood Reservoir, Torside Reservoir, Woodhead Reservoir.

WOODHEAD RESERVOIR YORKSHIRE
Woodhead is a small and scattered settlement at the head of the Longdendale valley in Derbyshire, England. It lies on the trans-Pennine A628 road connecting Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire, 6 miles (10 km) north of Glossop, 19 miles (31 km) east of Manchester and 18 miles (29 km) west of Barnsley. It is close to the River Etherow and the Trans Pennine Trail. Like nearby Tintwistle and Crowden, the hamlet lies within the historic county boundaries of Cheshire.

Hiking England's Tallest Mountain 🏴 | Scafell Pike - Lake District | Van Travels UK
Welcome back to another video, this week I hike up Scafell Pike in the Lake District, which is England's tallest mountain at 978 metres.
It was a stunning day and the clear views from the summit were unbelievable.

Hyde is a town in Greater Manchester, England. Historically in Cheshire, it is 5 miles northeast of Stockport, 6 miles west of Glossop and 7 miles east of Manchester. The population of Hyde increased due to the success of the cotton mills during the Industrial Revolution of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, at one stage there were 40 working mills. By 1872 only 27 remained, half of the remaining mills closed between 1921 and 1939 and there is only one working mill in the town today. There were many mill owning families, including the Sidebotham, Hibbert and Horsfield families.
St George's Church was built in 1832 as a chapel of ease to St Mary's, Stockport. It was built at the instigation of John Hyde Clarke of Hyde Hall and was the first Church of England place of worship in the town. St George's became the parish church of part of Hyde township in 1842. Later additions include the lychgate, boathouse by the canal, hearse house, parish rooms and numerous vicarages. The church has a 110-foot (34 m) tower housing eight bells and a clock.
The Peak Forest Canal was constructed through Hyde from Ashton-under-Lyne to Woodley, Romiley and Marple. Captain Clarke's Bridge, originally named Wood End Canal Bridge is situated at the end of Woodend Lane. The bridge was erected before Captain Clarke rose to prominence and therefore probably became known as Captain Clarke's Bridge after he retired and resided there.
Hyde was incorporated as a municipal borough of Cheshire in 1881, which covered the parishes of Hyde, Godley and Newton, along with part of Compstall. Hyde Town Hall dominates the market place area. The large bell in the clocktower is known as Owd Joss (Old Josh), named after Joshua Bradley, a former poor child worker in the mills. The clock chimes the Westminster Quarters.
Werneth Low Country Park is the location of the Hyde War Memorial. The memorial is owned by a trust which raised funds from Hyde residents after the Great War to create a permanent memorial to those Hyde residents who died in that conflict. The memorial contains 710 names. Hyde is separated from Denton by the River Tame, a tributary of the River Mersey. There are several areas and suburbs in Hyde, these include, Gee Cross, Newton, Hattersley, Godley, Flowery Field, Kingston, Mottram in Longdendale, Hollingworth and Broadbottom.
Hyde is served by six railway stations, Hyde Central and Hyde North stations are on the Manchester Piccadilly - Romiley - Rose Hill 'Hyde Loop' line. Flowery Field, Newton (for Hyde), Godley and Hattersley stations are on the electrified Piccadilly - Glossop - Hadfield line. Hyde is served by the M67 motorway, a feeder to the M60, the orbital motorway for Manchester, which is connected to many other motorways that serve across the country. Hyde also has Hyde bus station, with services into Manchester and other surrounding areas, including Stockport, Ashton-under-Lyne and Oldham.
