Wonderful Ashton. Worth a Visit to this beautiful English Village, with a great Country Pub.
We visit the very pretty village of Ashton, near Oundle in Northamptonshire. There are several Peacocks that run freely in and around the Village, and that are happy to share a snack with you, as long as you are gentle. The architecture is amazing, and i do manage to get my drone up. Worth a Visit to this beautiful English Village, with a great Country Pub.

Welcome to our video on the top things to do in Lancaster, UK. Lancaster is a historic city in northwest England, known for its rich heritage, charming streets, and beautiful countryside. Here are some of the best places to visit and activities to enjoy in Lancaster.
Begin your visit at Lancaster Castle, a well-preserved medieval fortress with a history dating back to Roman times. The castle offers guided tours that take you through the ancient dungeons, former prison cells, and the grand Shire Hall. It's a great way to learn about Lancaster's fascinating past.
Next, head to the Judges' Lodgings, Lancaster's oldest townhouse. This historic building now serves as a museum showcasing Georgian furniture, Gillow's furniture, and childhood toys. It offers a glimpse into the life of the 18th and 19th centuries.
Stroll through the charming streets of Lancaster's city center. Market Street and Penny Street are filled with independent shops, cafes, and traditional pubs. Don’t miss the Lancaster City Museum, located in the former town hall, where you can learn more about the city’s history and culture.
Visit Williamson Park, a beautiful green space offering panoramic views of the city and the surrounding countryside. The park is home to the Ashton Memorial, an impressive Edwardian folly often referred to as the Taj Mahal of the North. The park also has a butterfly house, mini zoo, and plenty of walking trails.
Explore Lancaster Canal, which offers a peaceful escape from the city. You can take a leisurely walk or bike ride along the towpath, or enjoy a boat trip to experience the tranquil waters and scenic views.
Head to the Lancaster Maritime Museum, located in the historic Custom House on St. George's Quay. The museum tells the story of Lancaster’s maritime history and its role as a significant port. You can see exhibits on shipbuilding, fishing, and the slave trade.
For a unique shopping experience, visit the Lancaster Charter Market, held every Wednesday and Saturday in the city center. The market offers a wide range of local produce, crafts, and street food, making it a great place to find unique items and enjoy delicious treats.
Take a walk along the River Lune, which offers picturesque views and a relaxing atmosphere. The Millennium Bridge provides a perfect spot for a scenic stroll and connects you to the Lancaster Greenway, a popular walking and cycling route.
If you’re a fan of the arts, check out the Dukes Theatre. This well-regarded venue hosts a variety of performances, including theater, film, and live music. It's a great place to catch a show and enjoy Lancaster's vibrant cultural scene.
Finally, explore the beautiful surrounding countryside, including the nearby Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The region offers plenty of opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and enjoying the great outdoors.

S1 – Ep 393 – Ashton – A Breathtaking View Overlooking the Town!
Our visit to Ashton was absolutely amazing and filled with incredible sights. The journey from Montagu itself was breathtaking, with stunning mountains, an old fort perched atop a fantastic tunnel we drove through, a modern bridge juxtaposed with an old rusted rail bridge - all of which left us in awe. We made a memorable stop at Platform 62, where a beautiful steam locomotive caught our eye and a leisurely walk-through Platform 62 only added to the charm. However, the highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the breathtaking view from a hill overlooking the town. Ashton proved to be yet another fantastic town worth exploring. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #westerncape #ashton

Aerial view of new MetroBus route in south Bristol
This short film gives an aerial view of part of the new MetroBus routes in south Bristol. Buses will start using the route to transport passengers from Long Ashton Park & Ride to Bristol city centre later this year. The busway will also be used by Bristol Airport’s Airport Flyer service.
The aerial footage starts in Spike Island and the Floating Harbour. It shows the new busway from Cumberland Road to Long Ashton Park and Ride, the recently refurbished Ashton Avenue Swing Bridge, Ashton Gate Stadium and the new Winterstoke Road skew bridge that allows the busway to cross the Portbury freight railway line.

Approaching 'Ashton Court Mansion' - Ashton Court Estate, Bristol, UK
Ashton Court is a mansion house and estate to the west of Bristol in England. Although the estate lies mainly in North Somerset, it is owned by the City of Bristol. The mansion and stables are a Grade I listed building.[1] Other structures on the estate are also listed.
Ashton Court has been the site of a manor house since the 11th century, and has been developed by a series of owners since then. From the 16th to 20th centuries it was owned by the Smyth family with each generation changing the house. Designs by Humphry Repton were used for the landscaping in the early 19th century. It was used as a military hospital in the First World War. In 1936 it was used as the venue for the Royal Show and, during the Second World War as an army transit camp. In 1946 the last of the Smyth family died and the house fell into disrepair before its purchase in 1959 by Bristol City Council.
The estate developed from the original deer park and is Grade II* listed on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England. It is the venue for a variety of leisure activities, including the now-defunct Ashton Court Festival, Bristol International Kite Festival and the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta. It is home to charity The Forest of Avon Trust.
