One last explore: The Logansport Mall
I take a trip back to my hometown for one last look at a dead mall at its very end. I hung out here, worked here, and have been saddened to see it slip into its current shape. Hopefully the new developer has the right ideas and it breathes new life into the property. But after 50 years of service, the mall will be no more.
Leaving Texas for Louisiana - Heading to Logansport #Drive #LA
Ride with us as we pull out onto Texas FM 31 South for about a hundred yards until we pass over the Texas/Louisiana border and it turns into LA 765 East. LA 765 East stays a two-lane road and this is a very rural area with fences, cows, and very little traffic. It is a short drive to Logansport, Louisiana – about six miles (about 10 kms). As we get closer to Logansport, traffic will pick up a bit and we will pass a public boat ramp for the Sabine River. Our drive will end as we pass the city limit sign of Logansport, a small town in DeSoto Parish.

Trip to Logansport, France Park, Wabash & Erie Canal 'Green Grass' & High Tides by Outlaws

Met with our classmates at Flavors, in Frankfort, IN for coffee. Brad Hazlett wanted to see the Eel River confluence (the Eel River dumps into the Wabash River), eat at Mr Happy Burger, and then go to France Park. We had a fantastic time exploring Logansport, while looking for the confluence. We also found Mr Happy BUrger, the atmosphere was better than the, burgers, but it was all good.
When we got to France Park, we almost had the entire park by ourselves, and had a blast. Leaving there we were going to Norway Dam, then to Oakdale Dam. Got stuck in traffic on a train, then the crossing gates wouldn't go up. We decided to head home, then Brad mention stopping at the Wabash & Erie Canal museum. I always thought it was the landmark behind Pizza Hut, was I wrong. I met a blacksmith that was making more stock, to replace what was sold. We had an interesting talk, and the next thing he was handing me a bunch of brochures & a schedule of 2016 (ending slide). Later Brad was talking with him. We finished exploring, called it a day, and headed home.

Located in Logansport Indiana this classic ride still thrill kids of all ages. One of the only remaining ring carousels, this Denztel clasic carousel has something for everyone. So sit back and reach for the brass ring.....Maybe a triple!!
History Of The Cass County Casousel:
The hand carved 43 animal Gustav Dentzel Carousel was brought to Logansport in 1919 from Fort Wayne, Indiana, by a private owner. While the history of the Logansport animals are traced to 1902, much evidence exists to date the animals to 1885. It is probable, then, that some of the animal carvings are over 100 years old.
The Jaycees raised the necessary funds to purchase the Logansport Carousel in 1972. The Cass County Carousel, Inc. was formed by interested volunteers to maintain and protect for future community enjoyment.
The Carousel was reassembled at Logansport's Spencer Park at the east edge of town, and has been in Logansport ever since. The Carousel was then moved to Riverside Park in 1949- a more centrally located park with more activities and much heavier community traffic and use. With the help of the Indiana Landmarks Foundation the McHale Community Complex was designed and construction completed in 1995 with tremendous community support.

We returned to France Park near Logansport, Indiana, for a Labor Day hike. This is a large county park with multiple limestone quarries that have been taken back by nature. Also a popular place for scuba diving, mountain biking, disc golf, and fishing. Recorded primarily with an Insta360 X3.
