Ok, now onto the info about this Chinese street food tour in Yunnan:
Xizhou, China
On Day 1, we drove from Dali Old Town to Xizhou, another ancient town near Dali, that’s known for some famous Chinese street food snacks.
We started for breakfast with a thick pea porridge and a pea pudding salad. The grandmother serving had been making these same dishes since she was a child with her mother. The breakfast was warming and delicious, and it hit the spot in the morning.
Total price - 8 RMB ($1.20)
Xizhou Baba - Probably the most famous Chinese street food you have to try in Xizhou is baba, which is also sometimes known as a Chinese pizza. It’s a round of dough that’s mixed with lard and meat, or the sweet version, and baked in a unique street oven using charcoal. Part of the fun is watching it being made. Then of course, eating it is absolutely delicious.
Price - 10 RMB ($1.50) per piece
Yunnanese cheese - Next up in Xizhou we went to watch a local Yunnanese Cheese demonstration. Yunnan is one of the few places in China where there is a cheese culture - some say it was brought over with the Mongols. We made some local cheese, then put it out to dry, then they let us sample some different types of the prepared cheese. Price - 8 RMB ($1.20)
Yi He Zhuang (怡和庄) Restaurant - This Yunnanese ethnic Bai Chinese food meal was the highlight of my day. We had an absolute feast of a meal, including a few unique Chinese dishes like raw pig sashimi and pine needle salad. Everything was colorful, using natural ingredients and the flavors were spectacular. This meal is one I’ll never forget.
Total price - 215 RMB ($32.41)
Dali Old Town - It was a long day of delicious Chinese food, and in the evening we drove back to Dali Old Town and headed out for dinner.
Duan’s Kitchen - For dinner we were back in Old Town Dali, and my friend Frank from Zouba Tours mentioned that Duan’s Kitchen was a little touristy, but he said we needed to try it because the food was amazing and they are doing some unique things. The food was outstanding, and my favorite dish was the chicken braised in chili oil with pu’er tea.

Lianzhou City, a county-level city under the administration of Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the northwestern part of Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province, at the upper reaches of the Xiaobei River, adjacent to Yangshan County in the southeast, connected to Liannan County in the southwest, connected to Lanshan and Jianghua Counties in Hunan Province in the northwest, bordering Linwu County in Hunan Province in the north, and leaning on the territory of Yizhang County in Hunan Province in the northeast, with a total area of 2,663.33 square kilometres.
Lianzhou City is located at the southern foot of Mengzhu Ling in the middle of the South Ridge, with mountains to the west, north and east, and a slightly lower central part, all in a hilly area. It belongs to the central subtropical monsoon climate zone, which is influenced by monsoons throughout the year. The rivers in the territory belong to the Lianjiang River system, a tributary of the Beijiang River (a tributary of the Pearl River).
As of 2014, Lianzhou City has 10 towns and 2 ethnic townships. According to the data of the seventh census, the resident population of Lianzhou City was 377,220 as at 00:00 on 1 November 2020.

Puning, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, is under the administration of Jieyang City. It is located in the eastern part of Guangdong Province, in the western part of the Chaoshan Plain, at the upper reaches of the Rong River, Lianjiang River and Longjiang River. According to the data of the seventh census, the resident population of Puning City was 1,998,619 as at 00:00 on 1 November 2020.
In 2018, Puning City has 7 streets, 17 towns and 1 township, and 8 township-level units, including 5 farms, 2 industrial parks and 1 Pu Qiao District, under its jurisdiction. The municipal government is located in the street of Liushabei. In the middle of the Rongjiang River Plain and the Lianjiang River Plain, the Tie Shan hills are lined with peaks and mountains, and in ancient times the cliffs and rocks were full of orchids and cymbidiums, so there is a Tie Shan Orchid as the city sculpture of Puning.
PUNING is a famous cultural town in Chaoshan, and a famous trade city with strong influence at home and abroad, especially famous at home and abroad for its ten professional markets such as garments, Chinese herbal medicines, tea and fruits. There are a number of large trade markets such as Kangmei (Puning) Chinese herbal medicine professional market, Puning International Garment City and Puning International Commodity City. 汕頭市，簡稱汕，別稱鮞城，是廣東省下轄的地級市，國務院以《立法法》確立的經濟特區、海峽西岸經濟區中心城市之一、21世紀海上絲綢之路重要門戶、粵東中心城市及東南沿海重要港口城市，廣東省域副中心城市，位於廣東省東部，市立西鄰揭陽市，北接潮州市，東隔台灣海峽與台灣相望，南濱南海、地處蓮花山脈東南麓，韓江三角洲平原，韓江、榕江、練江的入海口，東部為廣東省最大島嶼南澳島、市政府駐躍進路28號。
宋朝時，汕頭是揭陽縣鮀江都的漁村。元代稱為「廈嶺」。明世宗嘉靖四十二年（1563年）後，屬潮州府新設立的澄海縣。明神宗萬曆三年（1575年），汕頭被稱為「沙汕坪」。清康熙八年（1669年）改鮀浦水寨為汕頭汛，汕頭之稱開始見諸史冊。因市區原處韓江三角洲之沙堤上，常設柵薄捕魚，柵薄古稱汕，故名沙汕頭。康熙五十六年，清政府在這裡築砲台，此地改稱「沙汕頭」（沙汕頭砲台），雍正、乾隆期間，逐漸被簡稱為「汕頭」。乾隆二十一年，清政府在媽嶼島設立「常關」。
第二次鴉片戰爭後，即鹹豐八年（1858年），《天津條約》修定，劃潮州為通商口岸。由於潮州城區民眾的強烈反抗，使得外國人主動放棄在潮州城區貿易，改而選擇了相對安全的汕頭為通商口岸，進行貿易。鹹豐九年十二月初九（1860年1月1日），潮海關在媽嶼島成立，美國駐華公使華若翰之弟華為士被任命為潮海關第一任稅務司，而俞恩益被清政府戶部任命為潮海關第一任海關監督，汕頭正式開埠，成為全國第三個、全省第二個設海關的口岸。恩格斯在其著作《俄國在遠東的成功》一書中認為汕頭是五個通商口岸之外唯一有一點商業意義的口岸。自此，汕頭開始以其優越的地理位置和相對安全的環境，逐漸超越了潮州城區，成為了粵東的經濟中心。 1906年11月16日，連接汕頭和潮州的潮汕鐵路通車，這是中國第一條商業鐵路。鐵路管制福建西南及廣東東部出海要衝，營業額甚為可觀，日均貨運量約為100噸以上，收入幾乎可以和日本東海道的鐵路相等，是中國營業狀況最好鐵路之一。

It is a special economic zone established by the State Council in the Legislation Law, one of the central cities of the West Coast Economic Zone of the Taiwan Straits, an important gateway of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, a central city of eastern Guangdong and an important port city on the southeast coast. It is a sub-central city of Guangdong Province. It is located in the eastern part of Guangdong Province. The city borders Jieyang City to the west, Chaozhou City to the north, and Taiwan across the Taiwan Strait to the east. It is adjacent to the South China Sea in the south. It is located at the southeast foot of the Lotus Mountain Range, the Hanjiang Delta Plain, and the estuary of the Hanjiang, Rongjiang, and Lianjiang Rivers. In the east is Nan'ao Island, the largest island in Guangdong Province, and the municipal government is located at No. 28 Yuejin Road.
During the Song Dynasty, Shantou was a fishing village in Qiejiangdu, Jieyang County. It was called Xialing in the Yuan Dynasty. After the 42nd year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty (1563), it belonged to the newly established Chenghai County of Chaozhou Prefecture. In the third year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1575), Shantou was called Shashanping. In the eighth year of Emperor Kangxi's reign (1669), the name of Shantou began to appear in history books. Because the city was originally located on the sand embankment of the Hanjiang Delta, there was a permanent fishing fence, which was called Shan in ancient times, so it was named Shashantou. In the fifty-sixth year of Emperor Kangxi's reign, the Qing government built a fort here, and the place was renamed Shashantou (Shashantou Fort). During the reigns of Emperors Yongzheng and Qianlong, it was gradually shortened to Shantou. In the twenty-first year of Emperor Qianlong's reign, the Qing government established Changguan on Mayu Island.
