One of the most iconic buildings in La Defense is the Grande Arche, which is a massive cube-shaped building that serves as the western gateway to Paris. Designed by the Danish architect Johan Otto von Spreckelsen, the Grande Arche stands at 110 meters tall and is made of white Carrara marble and glass. It features a giant hollow arch that frames the view of the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Elysées.
Another famous building in La Defense is the Tour Total, which is the headquarters of the French oil company Total. The Tour Total is a 48-story building that stands at 190 meters tall and is the second tallest building in La Defense after the Tour First. The Tour Total has a unique design that features a tapered shape and a façade that is covered with a network of vertical louvers that help to regulate the amount of sunlight entering the building.
