Exploring Navan Town in IRELAND
Exploring Navan Town in IRELAND
Pierce Brosnan from Black Adam Hometown.
Navan (/ˈnævən/ NAV-ən; Irish: An Uaimh [ənˠ ˈuəvʲ], meaning the Cave) is the county town of County Meath, Republic of Ireland. In 2016, it had a population of 30,173, making it the tenth largest settlement in the Republic of Ireland. Navan is at the confluence of the River Boyne and Blackwater, around 50 km north west of Dublin. Its name is a palindrome.
According to local folklore a Souterrain was discovered near the Navan Viaduct in 1848. The location of its entrance has since been lost.
Another folk tale involves the ghost of Francis Ledwidge. According to the story an old friend of Ludwidge was working at the Meath Chronicle, the local news printer, when he heard the sound of Ledwidge's motorcycle outside. His friend was confused as he believed Ledwidge was fighting on the Western Front, upon going out to greet him the friend found that Ledwidge had disappeared. The story claims that this ghostly apparition appeared at the same moment he died.
In the Fenian cycle of Irish mythology, Fionn mac Cumhaill studied under the druid Finegas along the river Boyne. He is believed to have caught the Salmon of Knowledge in what is now Navan.

County Meath is just north of Dublin, in eastern Ireland. It’s known for its archaeological sites, especially Brú na Bóinne, in the Boyne Valley. Neolithic monuments at this site include the huge, accessible passage tombs of Newgrange and Knowth. Knowth also contains dozens of stones engraved with prehistoric art. Nearby, the Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre has trails around the site of this 1690 clash.

Laytown County Meath Ireland
This week I have a walk around Laytown in County Meath Ireland
Laytown is 50 km (30 mi) north of the nation's capital, Dublin. Laytown and neighbouring village, Bettystown, sit on one of Ireland's most scenic beachfronts. The beach stretches from Mornington at the River Boyne, which borders County Louth to Gormanston at the River Delvin, which borders County Dublin.
Laytown sits on the mouth of the River Nanny, a tidal estuary where mullet, trout, eels, gobies and flounder can be caught - but no salmon. According to local folklore, Saint Patrick banished all the salmon from the river. By an old schoolhouse overlooking the river there is a spring known as St Patrick's Well, though the access path to it is overgrown.

Laytown An Inse Meath
Laytown (Irish: An Inse, meaning the holm) is a village in County Meath, Ireland, located on the R150 regional road and overlooking the Irish Sea. Historically it was called Ninch, after the townland it occupies. Together with the neighbouring villages of Mornington and Bettystown it comprises the census town of Laytown-Bettystown-Mornington with a combined population of 10,889 at the 2011 Census, which is part of the wider area collectively known as East Meath. The 2016 Census recorded a population of 11,872 in the area which is now called Laytown-Bettystown-Mornington-Donacarney.

Laytown & Gormonston beach, Co Meath, Ireland, at low tide. The mouth of the Nanny River run dry.
Short video I took on the grassy overlook at Laytown beach, in Co Meath, Ireland.
With the tide so low, you'd almost be able to walk the few miles all the way from Morningtown beach right to the end of Gormonston beach (although the River Nanny still had a stream somewhat blocking the path).
It feels so incredibly easy to get pictures and videos of such an epic landscape in Laytown, and it always surprises me how more people don't take advantage of this beautiful scenery. Even on an overcast day, the sun and clouds reflect off the water so perfectly. Granted, you can't hear the waves too easily from up here, but the wind blowing over the sands more than makes up for that.

Laytown Beach Parkrun Inauguration - brief info and a course.
Buy me a coffee:
This time some general information (excuse my broken spoken English) for all parkrun tourists who are planning to visit Laytown Beach Parkrun.
Dubliners and all other places with a train access along the coast - check the train timetable if arrival/departure at Laytown aligns with the start/finish of the event. It might be convenient if it does as the train station is a stone throw away from the start line.

Part 2 | All 1157 UNESCO World Heritage Sites | Bru na Boinne #history #travel #ireland
No. 539 - Brú na Bóinne - Archaeological Ensemble of the Bend of the Boyne - Ireland 🇮🇪
Knowth, Newgrange, and Dowth, the three main pre-historic burial mounds of the Bru na Boinne Complex, as well as 90 additional monuments, are situated on the north bank of the River Boyne, ~50 km north of Dublin. The major sites were built ~5,300 years ago, during the Neolithic period. They are about 500 years older than the Pyramids of Egypt and about 1,000 years older than Stonehenge. Newgrange, the largest passage tomb, was carefully built to align its roofbox with the rising sun during the winter solstice, functioning as a calendar for citizens. Brú na Bóinne has over 360 megalithic art. 250 of which are found in and around Knowth. For thousands of years, these mounds have been a place of ritual and ceremony where the inhabitants shared their existence with the spirits of the dead. In 1993, the complex was added as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites for its outstanding importance to prehistoric Europe and beyond.

Explore the Scenic Beauty of Sligo & Donegal - The West Coast of Ireland - Part 2- Drone Views
Hi guys!
Thank you for visiting my channel again! Today you are going to watch the second episode of the trip to the West Coast of Ireland. In this video we are going to explore four spots that I think are worth to see – Fintra Beach, Slieve League, Bundoran Beach, and the Glencar Waterfall also known as the Devil’s Chimney.
The Slieve League experience was truly magical, and it exceeded my expectations. Fintra Beach is another location off the beaten track and visiting the place shortly after sunrise was amazing.
Both Fintra and Bundoran are blue flag beaches with golden strands of sand and rock formations. The Glencar Waterfall is relatively small, but I still think it was worth to see it because of its surrounding area and beauty.
I am happy because we have planned a good itinerary and we have created wonderful memories. I hope you will enjoy this video!

Bettystown previously known as Betaghstown transliterated to Beattystown/Bettystown, is a village in an area known as East Meath within County Meath, Ireland.
