If you could finish your walk by 2.30pm, you could adjourn to the nearby Rainforest Tree House Cafe to enjoy a well-deserved drink and snacks.

Kulai is located 29 km (18 mi) from Johor Bahru city and 8 km (5.0 mi) from Skudai. It is located in the center of the district. Kulai town and other towns within this district are located along the old trunk road linking Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru. The main road, Federal Route 1, is lined with many retail shops. There are also many housing estates within the township. The town is surrounded by rubber and oil palm estates.

Corsica Hotel is our favourite hotel to stay whenever we travel to Kulai. Located in Indahpura, it is strategically located near shopping malls, food places, and other premier landmarks. Walking distance to Aeon Mall Kulai, and a short drive away to IOI Mall, Johor Premium Outlets and Putuo Village.
Even though it is only a 3 star hotel, the premises is clean with a nice scent upon entering. Staff are friendly and helpful too!
Prices is affordable and we paid about RM610 for the Family Grand room for 2 nights stay.

[Travel in Malaysia] We made a cheap weekend getaway from KL to Johor, where we got to breathe in fresh forest air, splash around in a waterfall, climb way too many steps, eat organic waste-free food and lots more, all in a 2D1N stay. Some adventures we got up to: crossed paths with some adventurous monkeys, got semi-trapped in a waterfall park and went on a barefoot forest hike. We rank our weekend fun activities based on its price, effort, and fun value - basically, if it's cheap, fun and the effort is worth it, it's a good activity in our eyes!

Part of our Road Trip around Johor includes Kulai. About 30km from Johor Bahru City and just 8km away from Skudai.
Kulai (formerly known as Gui Lai) means the arrival of tortoise as it was once hit by flood resulting in plenty of tortoises move to the town from the river banks
Mainly populated by the Hakka community, there are many Hakka traditional delights.

Bamboo Forest, Putuo Village, Kulai, Tourist Attraction in Johor
Bamboo Forest at Putuo Village is a tourist attraction for everyone with Japanese theme garden. There is an entrance fee of RM10 per pax for local Malaysian. The entrance fee collected goes towards the upkeep and upgrading of this bamboo forest. The walk inside is cooling and shady, and with lots of places for nice photos for Instagrammers. Suitable for young children as they can sit on swings and there's a playground too. There are toilets on the opposite side of the road before the entrance and it is free of charge.
For those interested to go to the Putuo Village Chinese temple, this Bamboo Forest is connected to the Chinese Temple through a long walk along the colorful flags tunnel, but it is too long for me. I went to go to the Chinese Temple by driving my car up along the outside main road and there are lots of car park spaces in front of the Chinese temple.
