The Karamojong people lived together in Ethiopia as one ethnic group and migrated around 1600 A.D. to settle in present-day Sudan, Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda. Today seven related pastoral tribes (Dodoth, Jie, Lebtur, Bokora, Matheniko, Pian, Pokoth) live on the planes and the mountains are home to former inhabitants (Ik, Tepeth).

We had the pleasure to host Best Job Ever crew on their journey to showcase Uganda's hidden treasures. As Kara-Tunga, we shared the unspoiled culture of the Tepeth-tribe living on Mountain Moroto during a sunset walk and te Karimojong-Tribe living on the Savannah lands by Mountain Bike.
We're grateful that the team invested time and effort to showcase our Karamoja land (Northeast Uganda) - Uganda's ultimate destination for culture, adventure, wildlife and landscapes.

Karamoja Cultural Experience - Kara-Tunga Tours
A team of Ugandan content makers travelled to northeastern Uganda and asked Kara-Tunga to host them in Karamoja sub-region and give them an authentic taste of Karimojong culture.
Kara-Tunga is an indigenous owned and female led social enterprise embracing responsible tourism as a tool for creating social-economical opportunities for the community as well as enriching learning experiences for travelers.

Derrick is participating in the daily life of the shepherd cattle keepers as well as the elderly and women in the village. The tour is guided by experienced indigenous cultural guides who are trained by the Kara-Tunga Tourism Academy.

Uganda, oficialmente República de Uganda (en inglés Republic of Uganda; en suajili Jamhuri ya Uganda) es un país soberano situado en África oriental. El país limita al este con Kenia, al norte con Sudán del Sur, al oeste con República Democrática del Congo y al suroeste con Ruanda y Tanzania. Uganda se encuentra en la región de los Grandes Lagos de África, la parte sur del país incluye una parte sustancial del lago Victoria, compartido con Kenia y Tanzania. Relive the 3rd stage: Today we started with a transfer by vehicle from Moroto to Kotido to start the 3rd stage of 60Km through the stunning Jurassic Park-like landscape of Kaabong District!
25 participants from 10 different countries of origin, cycled the entire length of Karamoja land: 430Km in only 5 days. They climbed a total of 4,500m over the foothills of various mountain ranges and the Eastern Rift bordering Kenya and South Sudan. To finally cycle into Africa's most scenic Kidepo Valley National Park.

In this video, I take you with me to Northern Uganda, where we visit the Tepeth Community and I show you the original African village life. The Tepeth people are a part of the ATEKER community which consists of the Turkana People of Kenya, the Jie people of Uganda, the Toposi people of South Sudan, the Karamojong of Uganda among others. We engage in their ways of life and learn more about their culture. I hope that you will enjoy watching this video half as much as I enjoyed making it because I truly had a wonderful time in Karamoja.

Kidepo Valley National Park is located in Southeastern Uganda. This expanse of grassland rightly disrupted by wooded savanna and backdropped by the mountains of Karamoja and the tall-standing mountains of South Sudan. Without doubt, my favorite spot in Uganda, and a many-time contender on the list of Africa's top 10 national parks.
